Title: Amazing AMV/ Youtube debate
Rukia Kuchiki - December 14, 2006 03:22 PM (GMT)
Amazing AMV. Couldn't resist sharing. 'nuff said.
Edit: I'm very tempted to watch the anime now...
Lothlin - December 14, 2006 07:02 PM (GMT)
...wow, and yeah, I agree with you. I suddenly have the desire to watch Princess Tutu x.x
Rukia Kuchiki - December 14, 2006 10:21 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it's one of the best AMV's I've seen in a while
smokie - December 15, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
A sweet AMVA good AMV although I don't have much of a desire to watch the anime. Above is an AMV I enjoy although it has been around for a while.

Oh that's cute. It reminds me of another old AMV with the song "Teenage Dirtbag" by Weezer with Love Hina. God, I miss it... If only my computer hadn't been infected by 50 zillion viruses T.T
rpb3000 - December 16, 2006 05:43 AM (GMT)
Teenage Dirtbag is not by Weezer... Perhaps Wheatus? Or something like that... I think I've seen that AMV.
Also. Stop posting YouTube links. Post the actual animemusicvideos.org links, so we can do things like read the titles, song used, anime used, general comments on what it's about, etc, so that way we know if we've seen it before or not or a general idea of if we'll be interested or not. Thanks.

Awwww but I love youtube. Where else can you find so much mindless crap in one place?
Wyatt - December 16, 2006 05:09 PM (GMT)
Seriously, stop posting youtube crap. If you're going to pirate anime at least have the dignity to get the best quality you can. If you're going to watch AMVs, at least have the respest to post the actual links to the creator's page.

You're right, it's Wheatus. Argh, I always get them confused XD

As for the youtube stuff, sorry about that as well. It's the only one I had on hand at the moment. Jesus, don't need to get your panties in a bunch... or bite my head off for that matter

<.<;
My mistake. I meant no disrespect. I won't do it again

While it's nice that you feel secure enough in this community to think that I would actually deign to single you out as an inividual, I wasn't. If I wanted to place blame explicitly, I would have. As that goes, my comment is the culmination of various forces.
@smokie: As well read as you claim to be, one would think you'd be familiar with the concept of honour amongst thieves?

Alright... <_< My apologies again for misinterpreting your message... I think =/

And quit being so apologetic. You'll get eaten alive trying to be deferential to everyone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=256punNyubMNOTE: I know we were not to post youtube links BUT animemusicvideos.org didn't have it on their site.

You'll learn to adapt to our ways soon enough!
We argue, but never flame, and we're always respecting of someone who can defend their position, even if we think they are stupid for having it!
I think Harlock would be proud of our forums.

As long as I'm not bitching at you and raising hell, you're doing alright.

I usually avoid anything youtube related, but my friend showed this amv to me, and ugh, it's cool. It's Noir, and while the end is a little shaky, the beginning really captures the feel of Noir I think. Warning: Spoiler scenes.

First, there's nothing wrong with Youtube videos. I'm personally not going to download anything. I'd rather just watch it online. And you can't pirate things from a public site that offers their wares for free.
Now, they were all really good. I liked the 1984 how he made all the album covers. There was also some real good editing when he put clips inside other clips.
The Princess Tutu one had amazing editing. It was perfectly timed with the music, and was one of the best jobs I've ever seen.
The Otaku Anthem one was good too. It fit the song very well and had excellent editing. I'm not sure if this is an anime, but if it is, that would have worked with Ichigo 100% too.

My main problem with youtube is I hate watching how low quality their stuff is and I don't particulary enjoy watching stuff on their in general.
Although it there's something particular someone wants me to watch, then I'll look at it.
Wyatt - January 23, 2007 04:25 AM (GMT)
Uhhh, sniper? If someone puts it on youtube, and you then proceed to watch (video with worse quality than even the beginning of the digisub era), you are, in fact, engaging in what could be construed as an illegal act. Just last year, Sunrise came down hard on youtube for having illegal content. ]
Besides, have you ever seen a nice quality encode? You can't honestly say that youtube's flv looks remotely as good
To summarize:
-Youtube is crap
-HQ is a form of self-respect
sniper - January 23, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
No, youtube doesn't have the best quality, but it's convenient and easy to find stuff on. If you care so much about the author (who I agree should definitely be credited), post it here. It doesn't make the AMV any less good if I don't know the author.
Here's two links to an AMV that I love.
The www.animemusicvideos.org download:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/me...info.php?v=3684The Youtube version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6pVRBWz2nASee? I can please both sides!
Kaisermikeb - January 24, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
Youtube HURTS pirating! Supporting youtube damages your illegal downloading scene!
Youtube is flooding the pirate market with easily accessible low quality sources. With so many people using the low quality sources, it makes it difficult to get the high quality ones! Most file sharing and pirating only works if lots of people do it! Bittorrent and other popular filesharing agents need lots of people using them to get good transfer speeds (or in the case of people behind a proxy or firewally) ensure that all the passive connections find an active connection! While there are some p2p programs like DC++ that let you connect to a single user and draw from their personal collection it only works if they are constantly online!
So, everytime you watch an episode on youtube you're not just hurting yourself by seeing it in 3 shitty quality parts, being unable to have a copy of the file yourself, and having to be connected to the net to watch it, but you're also hurting all the people out there other than yourself who want to download that file for themselves!
On top of that, you'll end up hurting the original fansubbers/pirates too. With so little filesharing traffic, to make their time worthwhile they'll have to start uploading files to servers, and will end up having to pay hosting fees in order to deliver their goods to the masses.
That will hurt everyone, because then pirates will probably stop doing their thing all together. Fansubbing will stop. Movies will no longer be available for download, and it will be the end of an era completely. If not that, then fansubbers and pirates will have to charge you for your services. You're already seeing this in bittorrent sites that require you to pay a membership fee.
In short: Youtube is killing the internet! Don't use it as your primary online media service!
Lothlin - January 24, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
Yeah.
Seriously, the only thing I'll use youtube for is general internet fuckery, not anime or anything I actually care about. It's too bloody hard to see details on it, you can't actually read the subtitles, and sometimes the bloody things don't even load.
Now, bad commercials and weird shit that people do? That, I'll watch on there. But most of that isn't even wroth the web space of anything else XD
sniper - January 24, 2007 03:39 PM (GMT)
Stop spamming up this forum. I'm gonna make a new topic for this in the Random thread, so post there. Please talk about the AMVs that people are posting and not about the way they're posting them.
sniper - January 24, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
I never have a problem with quality. If there's an anime that I can't read the subtitles on, I just find another upload and watch that. The quality is always fine for me. And I prefer watching things online to downloading them anyways. There's still plenty of movies left for download, so chill.
Kaisermikeb - January 24, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
If you're posting a new link you should start a new thread anyhow, so I think it's cool to keep using this thread.
Kaisermikeb - January 24, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
Merging this thread with existing one because it's retarded to have two identical threads.
yuesokka - January 24, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
i post all my amv i make on youtube. i like it. i don't like myspace videos
rpb3000 - January 24, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
I will continue to despise all forms of streaming media until they begin to achieve quality levels at least mildly equivalent to what's available for download, and even then I will continue to download things more often than stream them because I want the ability to play the file whenever I want, wherever I want, on whatever system I want without having to be connected to the internet.
Currently the only streaming media I use on a regular basis is internet radio when I'm not at home, and flash movies.
Post edited by mod: It's internet, ok? Not "Intarweb", dumbass.

but youtube doesn't use hard drive space
Lothlin - January 24, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
So go save up fifty bucks and buy an 80gig external harddrive, or fuck, put another one in your computer.
Memory isn't that expensive nowadays, and even a small ex. harddrive can hold a hell of a lot of anime. With the added benefit of being portable and not reliant on bandwidth.
And you can always burn it to disk.
