Here's the idea. We show a bad anime like Weed or Mermaid Forest while three members of the AP staff make prepared funny comments. Unlike when people (me) try to make up funny comments on the spot, we will have a chance to make sure the comments really are funny and don't interrupt an important line in the show.

To really rip off MST3K, we could also add in a story about a politician who disapproves of how anime glorifies smoking and non-Christian values. The politician's evil plan to make people hate anime by showing them only bad anime never gets past the testing phase because his three test subjects come up with enough jokes to survive every show.

Otakon used to run "Mystery Anime Theater 3000" for a few years before they cancelled it back in 2003. It was one of their most popular events.

Hmmmmm..... I love Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and I love anime this sounds good. Even so part of me thinks it will just be a few people making fun of DBZ movies and lets be honest those do a pretty good job making fun of themselves. Zing! Heres how it would go....

Crow: Whats the big deal can't Master Roshi just beat the Androids?

Mike and Servo: What!?

Crow: Come on he could take em no problem.

Mike: No way Crow.

Servo: Yeah Crow his power level is too low its like less than 150.

Crow: His power level maybe low but wrap your minds around this. Hes hundreds

of years old, he has never got any so hes been jerkin off for centuries. Now he

could just crush Android 17 with his super mastorbation grip or fire off some

supersonic knuckle children that are like Cell fight Kamehameha waves eliminating

17 and then he would rape Android 18 to death. World saved.

Servo: Crow how much thought have you put into this?

Mike: Crow your scaring me.

I'm kind of on the fence about this idea... Who would you suggest be the commentators?

I kinda like the idea and kinda don't. I think it would be awesome to have an MST3K kinda thing going on, run by three of the most cynical, sarcastic, and therefore hilarious staffers we have. However, I think their comments should only encourage the crowd to also comment. Or something.

The people who make the comments during the performance don't have to be the ones who write the comments before the convention. We need three good voice actors for that part. Mike as the Mike Nelson-like character, Indy as the Crow-like character, Wyatt as the Tom Servo-like character, and Alex as the evil politician could work.

We already have this. It's called "The Bad Anime Room."
