Title: How Did You Get In To Monkey?

Monkey girl fan - May 4, 2006 11:21 AM (GMT)
What made you start to watch this cool show? For me it was the Journey to the West cartoon. And when i saw Monkey on the tv guide i regognised they both had the same characters. And yes i loved Monkey after watching it.

believe it or not but it was actually samas who got me into this awesome tv show. he had been talking about finding some 'monkey' episodes in the past but never had any luck. then one day he said to me "i have found it!" so yeah thats my story.

thankyou samas. <3 :P

I think I've already said something about this, but oh well.
I watched a feature length film on Hallmark called 'The Lost Empire' which was about monkey, sandy and pigsy and a 'scholar from above' as they try to save the manuscript of 'Journey to the West'. It was really good, and upon finding Monkey had his own series, I just had to investigate. the first episode I saw was the one with the Blue Wolf demon, and I loved it!

G'day :D ,

My cousin and I were flicking through the channels (as you do when your 8 & 9) and came across this show called Monkey Magic. From then on every single afternoon straight after school we would rush home to watch Monkey. We loved that show so much. Once it had finished we would head downstairs and act out those same scenes. My cousin Aaron was always Monkey and I was tripitaka. My little sister was Pigsy and our Auntie was Sandy.

20 years later I got to hire the DVD of Monkey from the video shop, and I rushed home to play it. My kids were very excited to watch it and I guess to see what the fuss was about. As soon as the song came on I couldn't believe I still knew it. My kids looked at me and said "Mum...is this it? Is there anything else?". I guess they couldn't understand why we loved that show so much.

I hear they are remaking Monkey? Apparently Monkey will be Blonde?

I remember it must have been coming up to christmas, and my dad took me to see some lame pantomine version of Alladin which I hated, and when we got home my mother was watching this unbeleivabley amazing tv show and a rock rolled down a hill and turned into a pig monster! (episode 2) I was glued, and talked about the show all night, completely ignoring the lame panto dad had took me to. So I missed the first episode in the origional run, but never missed one after. I must have been about 6 or 7, so I've been a Monkey fan ever since then.

Grew up in rural Australia, where we could only get two channels, one of which was the ABC. They show Monkey after school everyday, which all the kids at school watch and love. I've got the whole DVD collection now and it's still so funny everytime I watch it!!!!

My mum would sometimes make references to some old t.v show called Monkey. She would tell me about a pig and a monkey and a fish on a quest and I would be like hmm sounds pretty stupid. Then mum rented out a monkey video and I sat down and watched some strange looking characters along with a man played by a girl, some magic, some martial arts and a cloud. I believe my words were this is stupid. But I still reckon its brilliant.
Some things that seem stupid are actually brilliant.

I love hearing how others got into the show.
My brother and I found it watching tele as kids, they must have been repeats, in the late eighties.. i was very young. always remembered the tune and the name of the show,
I saw Tripitaka find Monkey under a rock/yoke, and free him. he flew around on his cloud- he was so happy- and after that i never looked back. your own cloud to fly around on? changing into a mouse or a wasp to go sneaking around? it doesn't get cooler.
