Xonnie316 - March 16, 2005 12:44 PM (GMT)
Well I been a fan of this show since the 80s,

I used to watch it in Australia on ABC when I was a tiny kid, well there used to be this abc kids show that introduces these shows like Monkey Magic, Dr. Who, Danger Mouse and much others,

And I'm trying to find out what this ABC Kids Show used to be called/titled coz I totally forgot ?

Hi. I asked your question to the Monkey Mailing List and got this response for you:
"The Afternoon Show with James Valentine, and later, Michael Tunn."

Used to be on in the mornings after Rage.

The best program ever. I sure miss Dylan Lewis and his funny interviews, Monkey Magic and all the cool bands they had on.

King of Ages - October 3, 2005 01:04 PM (GMT)
What kind of retarded show is that?

CloudStrife - October 4, 2005 07:39 AM (GMT)
There's a cartoon on one of the kid's channels, and it's called journey to the west.
Nowhere near as good as monkey, though.

King of Ages - October 4, 2005 03:02 PM (GMT)
Is that what that pic is from? Journey to the West

CloudStrife - October 5, 2005 12:43 PM (GMT)
The monkey in it does look like monkey in Journey to the west, so I'd say probably.

Possibly (not), but Monkey didn't show up until after Dylan left.
And the contempt they had for the show and it's fans still leaves me quaking with fury.
This includes chopping Truth and the Grey Gloves Devil into ten minute segments to stretch it out over the three hours of their show, cutting the end credits off Pigsy's Ten Thousand Ladies for a "comedic animation" and sketches portraying grumpy Monkey fans ringing up to complain.
Well, we've got their names.

JenZ4HeavenZ - November 26, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
I dont know if them questions are regarding the pic i posted but that picture is from a cartoon called "Havoc in Heaven"

IrrepressibleMonkey - November 29, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
That picture is extemley strange.

I was not aware there was a cartoon version of Monkey. But it would not be as good, i reckon. :P

CloudStrife - November 29, 2005 10:18 AM (GMT)
The cartoon I saw was called 'Journey to the west'.

JenZ4HeavenZ - November 29, 2005 10:48 AM (GMT)
well were i first herd of it it was called Havoc in Heaven

I have a stamp of tha same people the same show and it was sold as From Havoc In Heaven but the stamp says St. Vincent And the Grenadiens :) if anyone would like to see it i could scan it in.

there was also another cartoon called Alakazam The Great that was supost to be a take on the story Journey to The West that was made back in 1961.
Ive been trying to get ahold of that for a long time now and everytime i find it on ebay someone always out bids me. But I have seen it and I think i have a pic of that floating around some were

There is also a cartoon called Monkey Magic that was made in 1998/1999
by through Bandai entertainment.

and thats not all of them I still have my own research going in to this for my website and apon my own interest

I google image searches Monkey Magic and came up with this fairly recent looking cartoon based on the monkey series. Most is the same except monkeys name is 'Kongo'. There is also a game out it seems...
Monkey Weird Cartoon
Monkey The Game

It's really weird....

JenZ4HeavenZ - February 24, 2006 06:38 AM (GMT)
Yeah I have two tapes of that series :D its fun to watch although it realy dosnt fallow the story that well... but its fun..
its kinda for a younger audiance i do beleave...
it was made i beleave in 1999 or 1998 im still collecting on the series.

Samas - February 26, 2006 08:58 AM (GMT)
thats really strange....
i have NEVER seen that series played on TV, is it still on?
im quite interested to see what its like

I accidentlally ended up with the cartoon version after an impulse buy on e-bay wet horribly wrong. Glad to say I now have the proper episodes on DVD -

Suffice to say, the cartoon is ###### in comparison - its all that fast action Japanese rubbish and there isn't even any decent dubbing...! plus the cloud kinda looks real and not at all like a piece of cotton wool on a stick - stay well clear of these cartoons

JenZ4HeavenZ - March 4, 2006 07:39 AM (GMT)
I resent that  I am an artist and my art is very simular to the so called Japanese style...

and the cartoon isnt as bad as you say.

and in my opinion if your gonna do effects best do it right and make it good like more real...

and like i said before you have to have an open mind in order to repect other peoples takes on the story...

I have read the book and so far I HAVE not seen any show that came as close to the book as the Origonal Show Journey To The West that aired in China and acrossed some tvs that had a cable chanel called the International chanel.

and i still think there is alot of room for improvement.

all in all I think the better they get with effects is good because you can see and experiance what things actually would look like if it were to happen.

I think the Monkey Magic cartoon was on abit of a lower budget then alot of them but it served its perpose as a kids show and also at the time it was a bit of an experament they were working with some new stuff...

and it did air on tv for a little wile but didnt last that long.. they played it early in the morning ... I have never caught it on tv but my sister has.

Pigsy's so fat!

the show could have been "VIDIOT" hosted by Grahame Bond of Aunty Jack fame!

James Valentines show did not come around till about 1988!

or possibly it was Dr Who which was also shown around the same time in 80's !

well im not sure of the 'host show' you used to watch, but one i used to tune into regularly was simply called, 'the arvo show' which hosted a fella who was a radio host on tripple j for a long while, who always said that it ruined his life hosting a kids programe, LOL!

Cobalt - April 28, 2006 11:50 AM (GMT)
Geckoman, wasn't the guy James Valentine?

yes and no i guess its all about what kind of a look your going for. if you have a definite cartoon feel then you bring in this realistic looking cloud the whole style is gonna look ######ed up and completly ######.
