Hello, I'm new to this board and that to the world of Monkey, I received the complete box set as a christmas gist lasy year and I'm slowly but steadily making my way through the DVDs, so far it's been a fantastic show, I just love, so compelled by the story I decided to hunt down any other movies based on the Journey To The West and I found a couple, first I'll start with a most recent one.

A CHINESE TALL STORY

A Hong Kong produced movie based around the JTTW story, except it is the mobk Tripitaka who is the focal point and not the monkey King, who has a small role in the film, the plot is Tripitaka and his gaurdians are heading to India when they are ambused by a demon, during the battle Monkey, Pigsy and Sandy are captured and Monkey manages to throw Tripitaka to safety using his magic staff, Now the monk is alone but soon befriends an imp who decides to help him save his friends.

Unfortunately since I'm not a resident of Hong Kong I won't be able to see the movie til it hits DVD, Once I have seen it, I'll post a review. So in the mean time I will provide you with some links

Moving onto

MONKEY GOES WEST

Made in 1966 through power house studio Shaw Brothers, this was first of four movies done by Shaws based on the Monkey King Legend, like the above films I haven't seen them (Like I stated earlier I'm new to this whole JTTW mythology) but I will be purchasing the DVDs so expect reviews from me.

The Shaw brothers films are beautiful. Its hard to beleive they are so old, the production is very very classy, and even the effects are far beyond their time.

Chinese Odyssey is a bit hard to follow, but certainly has some laughs in it. I was lucky enough to get hold of both parts a long time ago.
