Title: Gaining New Members

CloudStrife - September 7, 2005 12:28 PM (GMT)
I think that this forum could benefit from more members, as few seem to be posting. As an experienced forum headhunter, I feel I can offer a few tips on gathering members for the forums.

1.) Mass e-mail. I found this place on a great Monkey website, but email could reach so many more than relying on people stumbling into the forum. This can be an effective method for recruitment, but getting them to stay is the hard part.

2.)Affiliations. Link this forum to another forum, and vice versa, and both will enjoy the benifits. Members of both forums will know about the other, and may be enticed to join.

3.)Confrontation (both real and internet). Talk to people, either in real life or in chats, about the forums and encourage them to join. It also works if your playing online games.

That's about all I can think of!
Anyone else know of any other methods of recruitment?

Well, I would tell my friends, but I am just about the only person in Tasmania, Australia who watches Monkey!

I like the suggestion of linking to another site. Good idea! Just make sure that site is Monkey related! :D

I'm a member of several forums, but they're usually about different things.
E.g. I'm on a couple of RPG forums, a FF one, this one, a few 'general chat' ones, a Yugi one, and I think it would be good to find people with different interests as well as monkey to come.

I made a link to this website on an RP (Role Play) website I am a part of. All they have to do is check out my profile, and there it is...

v true with your suggestions, there really is not much more you can do to get people to join other than word of mouth, the biggest chance you have is when they release the new monkey and have the site advertised with all the parafanelia that goes with it. affiliate with other sites so people might browse.

Fortunately there is a nice related link on this BBC page directing readers to www.monkeyheaven.com

As for myself, I am kind of a new member. I remember visiting this site when it was still on Geocities (ewww... i just said a bad word). I have randomly been checking this site over the years. Hell my guestbook entry is no longer visible since the guestbook has changed several times over.

Well I would like to say I am back but alas this is just one of my random return visits so that I can feel nostalgic.

To the admin team and especially to the site owner (It's Howell isn't it?) - my deepest gratitudes for keeping this site alive.

Thank you.

Bye for now!

Jeff

Acting out Monkey!

We could dress up, flick the web-cam (or Whatever) on and record ourselves, reciting lines from Monkey!

In a similar vein to the write a Monkey episode, but lets take old scripts, use/improvise with them it'd be fun.

& a competition for who gets the best costumes, but not costumes bought costumes should be home made.

Hi all,

I ve been a monkey fan since i was 5 years old in 1982

I remember making a magic stick and wrapping it with multi colored tape from my TaekwonDo gradings and hitting the other kids with it . And that was when I was 10 haha . I was such a die hard fan I think I remember still having that stick when I was 13.
I nearly killed myself trying to make a magic cloud and jump out a window :P
So you can see why I had to join this forum :P

So whens the new Monkey series coming out? :)
