Title: Peasant/Villager
Description: fodder

since dk3 is headed towards the surface, the evil keepers have to raid and plunder villages. populating these villages are the innocent, pure-hearted villagers.

since most of them are farmers, they cannot hold their own with a weapon. however, if there are enough of them, they will fight with all their hearts to defeat any evils that come their way.

There could be many types of villagers. farmers can wield pitchforks, butchers fight with their cleavers, blacksmiths with their hammers, and clergymen with their prayers.

their power is of course laughable, especially at night. if a vampire (or werewolf?) comes and bites them, they have a certain chance to become that creature, albeit a weaker version.

if you destroy a peasants house/farm, you gain a lot of resources. if, however, you let them surrender, you can monitor them while they produce resources for you at a slower, but constant, rate.

i dont want it to get to the point of something like black and white or warcraft i say leave it underground anyway that is the whole point of the game

The idea of a villager is very cool and I think it would add a LOT of fun to the game. Dungeon Keeper is about destroying and overtaking the overworld, so I don't think villagers should be convertable, but with villagers now you have something to destroy! Just imagine the fun of one Horned Reaper breaking through the village defenses and wreaking havoc against the masses of villagers that can't even scratch him.

Also, it could be cool to have small amounts of gold in buildings to loot.

I think tey should be called peasents as opposed to villagers, they should also have some form of combat capability, but only so far as it would take maybe 2 or 3 to defeat a fly, and they should start fleeing as soon as they loose 1 or 2 bars of health.
slaughtering peasents sounds better to me than slaughtering villagers

yeah, they definatly should flee easily.

but they have strength in numbers.

And they should be able to catch fire if a warlock attacks them

And what about women and children? im totally for butchering them, i dont know about you.

Access to dungeons are strictly for peasants!

Yes! I can see myself laughing almost hysterically after destroying the overworld defenses and burning and slaughtering the villages inhabitants. It'd be cooler if all fire-magic wielding creature could do this.

I don't think there should be any graphical slaughtering of women/children. Dungeon Keeper is exaggerated evil, meaning it is not scary/disturbing in the slightest, and I don't think this would fit well with this theme.

Peasants could be used as an objective, maybe like an overworld Dungeon Heart; kill all the peasants to win, though I wouldn't have this in every level.

I don't think you should be able to convert or conquer villages and have peasants work for you... (moreover since the only recourse is Gold (and mana) and I dont picture villagers producing much of those anyway).

DK has always been and should always be about destruction and evilness; maul the village I say. if anything, the corpses can make good sources for graveyard vampire food or for a lich or Necromancer to raise skellies from.

How about peasents being infected by the bite of zombies/vampires and becoming minions?

Robofish - August 26, 2008 09:41 PM (GMT)
sounds a little over powered to me

muhfish - August 26, 2008 09:49 PM (GMT)
maybe vampires turn villagers into a weaker form of vampires that only serve for a short time before dying.

same with werewolves.

as for zombies, there should only be a 20% chance a zombie will rise when a zombie kills a villager. since zombies are really weak, then that's okay.

DzjeeAr - August 26, 2008 10:02 PM (GMT)
Like with Skeletons, a Zombie's strength should lie in sheer numbers - and in extention your ability to maintain a large number of these units since they dont require upkeep. Weak solo, but decent in horde numbers due to the power of overwhelming - yet vulnerable to aoe.
