I found
this while searching about DK on Google. Someone wishes to remake DK2 as open source. Its name will be OpenDungeons [
Forum here].

Hello,
I have started a project to make a clone of the game Dungeon Keeper 2! It started as a challenge to make a game and all of its resources with open source technology.
It is currently being built on linux using OpenGL, SDL and OpenAL, but will be released cross platform, and I am looking for artists, modelers, animators, level designers, musicians, sound fx people etc etc to help in the project. I am not currently looking for coders and the code is most likely going to be first released when the game becomes remotely playable.
The only requirement is that EVERYTHING is built on open source technology and released under the GNU GPL.
Over the next few weeks I am hoping to get a website of some kind up to release early images of the project. The project is also still nameless so suggestions will be taken for a legally distinctive name from Dungeon Keeper!
Any suggestions, ideas and feature requests will be helpful as this will ultimately end up as a community driven project.
Hope to hear what you all think of the project.

Comments, anyone ?

There were lot of remakes started. But most of them ended with only level graphics made.
Many have tried, but no one succeeded (as for now).

Open Dungeons is also still running.

sounds more like a new game than a remake from my brief look. Seeing lots of new stuff, not just updated versions of the old.

It is pretty much going to be new, but based on the DK games.
So models are being re-done and everything and rather than just copying models form DKI or DKII, they're being done from scratch so it will look different.
The plan is also to have a number of factions with their own units.
EG - Classic keeper and the usual minions.
Undead - All minions are dead (clearly)
Heroe - All minions are pompous goodie goddies
So it will be the same game, but when you start you will pick whatever type of Keeper you want with your own type minions.
Wonder if Open Dungeons should get a place here too, since NBK(e) and DKIII projects are here???

You're talking about this project?:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opendungeons/It's relatively new; but there's already some code in CVS.
I wish people just start to work together; if every single person works on his/her own remake, we only get lots of unfinished projects...
The videos looks great; but I hope you realize that graphics is the least importand part of the game.

I've already spoken to them about maybe everyone working on anything to with Dungeon Keeper might want to get together.
They're very very up for it, but have said that its pointless untill the project here NBK has the code out in the open to work on.
But yeah, If all we want to see is a playable released product, then we should all concentrate on one thing and just get it done, and all be one place too.
