Evil is the result of an action that defies morals, rules or laws defined as just, good or heroic.
The word evil is often used in place of 'unskilled' or 'defective' referring to the bad decision(s) given to make a particular piece of equipment, this definition may be reflective of the implication of 'evil' (see above) during the item's construction.
Also, an 'evil character' or 'evil thing' is something that uses or posesses the quality of being 'evil' (see above), this can also be described as an evil force or personification, for example an evil character may cause harm, pain or injury to others.
There are also aspects of society often declared as evil such as poverty and injustice.
The phrase 'Evil One' or 'Evil Lord' is used to describe the most evil entity considered by the user, usually the devil, possibly the Horned Reaper  .
Some would argue that evil causes 'evil' (see above) actions instead of evil being the result of them, usually implying that evil is a force rooted in a supernatural entity or the 'core' of human beings not a matter for opinion.

Evil is a word. It means nothing. Actions may be interpreted in different ways by different people; most people who do "evil" things do them because they consider them right, or necessary. There are things that are almost universally considered evil; well, to that I say, call it whatever you want, but it'll still just be a word.
Actions matter; words don't, at least, not usually. Speak the right thing to the right person, and Things happen.
Evil is subjective. There are things I call evil. There are things other people call evil. Some people would call me evil because of the religion I was born into. Some people would call me evil because of where I live. Some people would call me evil because I eat chicken. Some people would call me evil because of the color of my skin.
Then again, someone might call me evil because I've wronged them, somehow.
The 'ultimate' definition of evil doesn't exist. It all depends on how you look at it...
