Title: Gaming Tattoo's
Kris - September 17, 2008 06:14 PM (GMT)
Would you get a gaming tattoo?
Would it be something recognizable like mario? Or something inconspicuous?
I wonder how many people got GLaDOS tattoo's...:lol :eek :lol
s0njas0n - September 17, 2008 06:17 PM (GMT)
no, more like companion cubes. for some reason everyone was obsessed with those things... however, i've seen good and bad game tattoos, and i prefer the ones that aren't cartoony video game characters... or pokemon like that guy on gametrailers.
Kris - September 17, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
Ah yes, how silly of me. I forgot about the cubes. I've only played the flash version so maybe there is more appeal to the cube on the console versions? :lol
s0njas0n - September 17, 2008 06:24 PM (GMT)
and yet, i just dropped the thing in the incenerator, i didn't understand people's attatchment to it at all. i think the plushies would be cool because i did like the game, but i don't understand why people had a hard time getting rid of it.
waxc3 - September 17, 2008 06:25 PM (GMT)
i WOULD but never did. probably never will but i do love the hobby enough to maybe wear it for life.
you ever see this one?

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
for those of you that say yes, what would you get?
i remember pac man tats back in the 80s. wonder if those guys still love them?
i have seen cute ghost (from pac or mrs pac) tats on girls before. frogger ones too.
a cool galaga one.
i cant say there is such the perfect game or character that i could live with it forever! maybe pitfall harry swinging for me!?
i love master chief but he is a little too generic now being such an icon (like mario is).
vix - September 17, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
i think a paper weight would be cool bit not a tattoo, lol. i didn't care much about it either.
as for a tattoo...probably something not easily recognizable for me.
s0njas0n - September 17, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
while that is a sweet tattoo, i don't think i would want to sport that one. i've thought about this before, but never actually came up with anything that both gamers and non-gamers could appreciate. and the main thing is sticking with it forever, in 30 years am i going to think a legend of zelda tattoo is awesome? probably not.
vix - September 17, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
yeah, i don't think i would want one that big.
i would probably be a dork and get a bleach tattoo before i got a video game tattoo, lol
The Real Prince - September 20, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
lately i've been thinking of getting a tattoo but my only problem is what to get I thought about the 360 symbol on the back of my neck or something else game related I will eventually get a game related tattoo.
FoominFan - September 21, 2008 04:45 PM (GMT)
Definitely a no for me. I don't like tattoos. When you're 80 and you look at that pointless, outdated, un-removable blob of ink on your skin, you'll think, "Why in the @#$! did I do that?" :D
s0njas0n - September 21, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
i don't think i'd want to brand myself with any company's logo, lol. i know of someone who wanted to get the X O [] /\ symbols tattooed, which is ok, but not sure if it's something i would want to live with.
Karppa - October 4, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
Have you ever seen how old tattoos look like? I mean, after 20-30 years? eww, I'll never EVER get one.
FoominFan - October 4, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
Exactly. Old tattoos look hideous. :wtf
vix - October 4, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
it depends on what they are. if it's something simple, then tey don't look too bad. like my dad, he has my b-day and my bro's b-day on his arm(and still forgets the dates mind you) and since they're simple text, they don't look bad.
he's got a maltese cross on his arm and leg and they look decent now too despite being years and years old.

new methods and inks age way better as long as your body doesnt change tooooo much and you take care of your skin.
FoominFan - October 7, 2008 01:46 AM (GMT)
You'll have to explain the different methods and inks and body processes :eek ... I'm not (and probably a majority of other people here) too familiar with the topic of tatooing. :)

im no expert but many of my friends are either in the business or just collect (and cover their bodies).
i was just repeating what i have heard from them repeatedly.
s0njas0n - October 7, 2008 01:16 PM (GMT)
well, obviously the development is getting better, but only time will tell if the "technology" involved in tattooing will be much better than it used to be. i'll let you know in 50 years :P
waxc3 - October 7, 2008 01:24 PM (GMT)
mostly in the inks i think are the biggest improvements. the colors stay true longer based on lab tests (accelerated aging, etc.)
that i have seen on like nat geo shows and the history channel.
i dont know if the needles have had to change much for a while. seems like many artists like the older style machines
s0njas0n - October 7, 2008 01:29 PM (GMT)
i wonder if they're getting harder to remove as well.
have you ever seen the tribal tattoos on women's faces? omg, that looks so painful. they use a hard, sharp object and hammer the ink into their face.
waxc3 - October 7, 2008 01:35 PM (GMT)
laser removal has come a long way, but it is way more painful than the needle was while getting the ink. and it takes several treatments.
i have watched a bunch of tattoo shows on tv. some of the (to me) odder methods do look pretty painful.
FoominFan - October 7, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
Removable tattoos that would stay on for as long as you want would be really cool. :yes

i imagine such a thing is possible but then the removal would probably involve something not safe...
i have students with those temp tats on all the time until they just fade into a blurry nothingness on their skin. lil ones love the temp tats!

I used to use henna a lot in college and for a few years after. If it's done right with a good kit, it can stay on for up to six weeks and then it just starts to fade away.

i have seen some beautiful designs on girls hands and feet with that. very skilled brush work.
vix - October 8, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
I would do random designs on my hands and wrists, good times. I haven't found another kit like my first one though in a long time. That one was by far the best one and I only found it in New Hope, PA so maybe one day I'll be able to get back there and take a look.
waxc3 - October 8, 2008 08:25 PM (GMT)
was it just brushes and the ink? were there special things in the kit as well? stencils or something?
what if you drew a pattern on your skin in sharpie, did the henna over it, as the sharpie faded off the henna might not have soaked into the skin the same? maybe you could do cool designs?
(like wax resist on pottery or with watercolor?)
vix - October 8, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
this kit hd stencils in a special ink. you rubbed this eucalyptus oil on your skin and the pressed the piece of paper with the design on it onto your skin and a faint black design would transfer over. the henna was in a squeeze bottle and then you just traced it out and let it dried for a day(the longer you leave it on,the longer the tatoo stays) and then peel the henna off. it kinda flakes so after it it initally dried for me i would tape a tissue over or something like that.
waxc3 - October 9, 2008 10:54 AM (GMT)
hmmmp... didnt know that.
i have only seen old women paint it on with a brush.
the kit sounds cool.
do you have a picture of your hands (or whereever you put it) with it on?
vix - October 9, 2008 05:00 PM (GMT)
no, no pics. that was many moons ago when i was in college, lol.
