i have WLK But a long time ago it got slower and slower untill it didn't work at all. How can I fix this? (Other then buying something)

is the disc scratched? does the ps2 need to be cleaned? is it dre'ing on you?
reecer6 - August 22, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
The disc is not scratched. the PS2 works on every other but this one. What does dre'ing even mean? It's just a black screen on, so it's (whatever it means) probably yes and no.

disc read error.
it could be a faulty disc perhaps.
reecer6 - August 22, 2008 02:53 AM (GMT)
It can't be faulty. I've played it a long time without this happening!
waxc3 - August 22, 2008 02:23 PM (GMT)
to test vix's theory that it could be the disc you need to run your copy of the game on someone elses ps2.
do you have access to another machine?
try several other games on your ps2. see if they run perfectly.
try running your katamari WITHOUT the memory card inserted see if loads better or still not at all.
let us know what you have and can try and we will see if we can get you going again.

I've been playing Katamari Damacy Lately and it works. I do not have access to another PS2. I'll go try playing it without the memory card in. (First, with the other memory card in first)
EDIT: Wait, it is scratched. is there anyway to fix a scratched CD?
vix - August 22, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
Wait, are you playing it on a PS2 or a PS3?
As for fixing scratches there are things you can buy and some stores offer a scratch fixing service.

lol. I put in PS3 instead of PS2! I don't even have a PS3! And I said how I can fix this WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING.

dont yell at someone that is trying to help you for free buddy!
do you have the ability to take your game to a place like gamestop or ebgames or whatever? a videogame only type of store.
they have the little grinding machine there that will resurface a disc (for when they buy/sell used games) and if you are super nice they might do it for you.
that is the only way you are going to fix a scratched disc for free. (find a business or friend that has a disc resurfacer and is willing to help you).
even the evil rent the same game and return your damaged one (which i do not support) would cost money.

like wax said, you probably will have to spend some amount of money. even if it's a couple of bucks, to get this fixed.
reecer6 - August 23, 2008 08:07 PM (GMT)
ok, next time we go out to buy something, I'll tell them about that and hope I can. if it costs money, what would the maxium be? I hope 5 dollars or so. (I only have 36 dollars)
vix - August 23, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
well, if you go somewhere like game crazy to get the disc repaired, it shouldn't be no more than a couple bucks if they charge you. the kits to repair discs can run around 20 likely but you get a kit so unless you have other stuff you want to fix, i would try game crazy first if you have them around you or some other stuff that does them.

My dad says that we can only buy the disc fixer. (he said it was 20$ too!) So I'm just thought of wishing to get one for my birthday. if not, Christmas.

do you have any game crazy's around you? they're usually inside of Hollywood Video's.
reecer6 - August 24, 2008 10:46 PM (GMT)
No. We do have Gamestops near though.
vix - August 24, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
give a call to some of them to see if they do disc repair for free.
