Title: Create-a-Character Debate
Description: (again, lol)

Ok, I made it multi-vote to make it easier since it really depends on the game series (rather than having a both option).

But what do you prefer in games?

For games like SSX, I prefer the pre-made characters. Maz, Zoe, etc. The cac they did in SSX on Tour was awful.

But then there are games that do the cac right. Rock Band's cac was decent.

Then there's the part of me that would never want a cac in some games. Like katamari. I don't think making your own cousin would suit the series since it seems like a lot of thought goes into making the cousins.

I'd say predominantly premade characters, with some create-a-character exceptions but not enough for a vote for both. Premade characters are always done right. As you said Vix, the Katamari characters are essentially art and shouldn't be tampered with. Another good example of this is Mass Effect. I attempted to make a custom character but nothing seemed as good as the one programmed in from the beginning. The exception for this personally would be the Tony Hawk games (although I stopped at Tony Hawk 4 so I wouldn't know about it currently)

I like to make my character to look like me but I ended up in mass effect making me look very asian like by that I mean squinty eyes I love the RB CaC but I would like editing the shape of your face like have the presets and be able edit them,I couldn't do the oblivion CaC.I like CaC but I hate when they don't give enough options or when they give you ones that just change others also saints row was good so was tenchu Z where you don't really change how your character looks but you change what they wear which the game gives you alot and I mean alot of accesories

i suppose it just depends on the game. even then, the cac should never overshadow the gameplay.

I guess I would agree that it depends on the game. Also, if you know me (even just from my posts on this site) you know I tend to obsess over things. This is useful for spotting tiny details that may lead to higher scores, but it also means I'm likely to spend a silly amount of time making adjustments to my character. If there's an option to choose a pre-made character, I usually do that. Besides, any time spent putting clothes or a beard on your character is time not spent playing the actual game.

The most unnecessary CACs, in my opinion, are the ones in 3rd or even 1st person games where you can't see your character most of the time anyway. This also applies to driving games where even if you can see your own car, you're not going to just stare at it during a race. I found the forced CAC in games like the Need for Speed Underground series to be obnoxious.

I'm generally not big on CAC's. But having established characters with accessories is usually enough to make me happy.

i never find it that useful tbh. its alrite as a side thing in tony hawks or pro evo to create players not on the game but other than that im not big on customisation
