Title: Movies I Will See Upon My Return
Description: Also, Movies You Can't Talk About
Jag - June 4, 2008 12:53 AM (GMT)
It's weird, I haven't wanted to see any movies (in theaters) for years. It seems they were being saved up until I was going to be gone for several months, possibly meaning that I won't get to see them until they come out on DVD. So none of you are allowed to tell me anything about them until I get the chance to see them.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - How long has it been since the Last Crusade? That's how long I've been waiting for this one. I think it should still be in theaters when I get back. It is doing well in the monetary fashion. If any of you say anything at all about it, I will find you.
Iron Man - I doubt it will be in theaters when I get back. I was somewhat looking forward to this one, but I could probably wait on it. I've also heard mixed things about it.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - I didn't even have any idea it was out until a few days ago. The first one wasn't really that good, and that's the book everyone's familiar with. I'm not sure what they'll do with one most people didn't know existed. I also find it odd that they went with Prince Caspian for the second film. I know it's the second book chronologically, but it was written last as a sort of side story.
That's all I can recall right now, but on top of all the games and other things I want to get when I return, it makes for a lot of things to do. It's kind of like fitting the last few months into several days.
Also, I made this list out of boredom. I'm waiting on the phone to call some people, and I didn't have anything better to do.

well, i've been planning to see both indy and ironman, but my family saw them without me, lol. as for prince caspian, i've read it and seen the movie. the movie wasn't that great to be honest. of course that's my opinion. they added humor where it wasn't supposed to be funny and there wasn't that much action until halfway through. i mean, it wasn't terrible, but i thought the first one was better.

oh man, that part in indy where cloud jumps out from behind a portal and hands indy a buster sword is epic. :P

I liked Iron Man a lot. It was missing one thing though, and the lack of it disappointed me.

I wanted a scene where it shows Iron Man standing, looking up, or something. Then the Iron Man guitar riff plays, and he flies around and kicks some arse. Right at the end, I saw that scene coming. I was wrong. :(

new hulk looks way cooler than the previous one.
i am psyched for the wolverine movie as well.

yeah, the new hulk is supposed to be nothing like the old one. i'm sure i'll see it as i have a thing for superhero movies. though, i have to say, i didn't hate the old one as much as everyone else seemed to. the biggest complaint was too much back story and not enough action it seemed.
waxc3 - June 6, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
the previous hulk? yea. not the best but a little fun. i liked seeing it once.
i liked all of the marvel movies at least once. daredevil and elektra at the bottom of that list.
i like the dc movies the least though. never cared for their writing style at all.
the new hulk is very action packed, great effects, and they seem to have put a good amount of character and personality into the bruce/ david banner character.

well, i have to say that the batman movies are some of my favorites. and as much as i love superman, the movies were quite terrible. the tv shows were pretty good, though.
waxc3 - June 6, 2008 03:47 PM (GMT)
yea they were worth seeing. i like the batman cartoons a bunch. batman beyond i thought was good.

Saw Iron Man when I got back (Indiana Jones is for Monday after I inprocess back to the base). It's not bad. I did have some issue that parts of the movie were set in Kandahar because I did not want to see that place again so soon. I know they filmed in the Mojave desert somewhere, but it looked too much like the real thing for my tastes. The only difference is that nobody stepped on a landmine, which in Afghanistan is about an 80% chance.
So it was a modern interpretation of the Iron Man comic, which I can get behind, because when Marvel movies keep it to close to the original, it just feels much too campy. Robert Downey Jr. was pretty much dead on in his role as Tony Stark. I actually enjoyed it, but my skills at critiquing may have been dulled over the past few months.

George Lucas and Harrison Ford made me watch while they raped my childhood. That is all...
