Title: lego indiana jones
discostu - June 3, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
waxc i noticed you got it too ;)
played the first 4 or 5 levels
still all the good stuff but without epic star wars setting and musc it doesnt feel right. and i feel impotent without a light sabre
nice touch is that when you whip the woman it brings her close and he kisses her. collapsing bridges and stuff is cool and at the college he can hide in some plants and walk around
lego batman trailer is on it too, looks awesome.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=07iEZe5aldgmabybe its cos ive never been a huge indy fan
ok the game is still pretty decent however there are 2 annoyances. one is the detection when trying to pick up objects. guns that enemies drop only stay a couple of seconds so you have to pick it up asap but when the stupid game wont let you its annoying. also when walking near a wall or large object it goes into a stupid wall sneaking mode when you dont want it to

i'll be getting it next week. i almost got it today, but i won't be able to play it anyway, so i'm waiting. i'm more of an indiana jones fan than a star wars fan so this is better for me.

i think the combat suffers without the sabres. fighting is slow and sluggish esp with weapons. thats one of the reasons i prefered the 1st lego SQ to the 2nd.
no sith to have random fights with at the main hall either :(

i'm debating getting this.
Jag - June 4, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
Adding it to the list for when I get back.
Damn, why do all the good games wait until I'm gone to come out?
s0njas0n - June 4, 2008 12:49 AM (GMT)
i heard the worst thing about the game was the friendly ai. it's not really helpful and it's better if you play with an actual person. which system did you get it for?
Jag - June 4, 2008 12:56 AM (GMT)
That's kind of true for all the LEGO games. At least you aren't penalized for an AI controlled character dying. In fact, it's quite fun to continually murder them. It's quite cathartic.

i actually have a friend who said "when you get it call me and i'll come and play" so that's good, though she probably won't stick it out til the end. i heard it has a lot of great humor and puzzles, though. i might be able to get my nephew to play with me too.
vix - June 4, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)
i had read that it was better with two people but there's no online so i'm not sure if i'm gonna get it just yet.

beat the first movie last night. played for 3 hours. was fun. never too hard!
the friendly ai sometimes will kill all enemies for you so well, and sometimes will stand there and do nothing. never bothered me much either way.
tons of achievements popping up in the game easily. really creative ones too.
humor is great. lots of star wars jokes thus far thrown in.
worth playing through once for me (360). getting ninja g2 today...
discostu - June 4, 2008 02:35 PM (GMT)
i have it on psp.
of course its better with someone else. they need to make more coop video games in general.
devil may cry is a step up from the old scrolling fighters but unfortunately they havent made it 2 player like final fight, streets of rage etc.
i know its possible cos on DMC 3 player 2 could control dantes doppelganger

there are quite a few on the 360. split screen, system link, online.
discostu - June 4, 2008 05:17 PM (GMT)
no split screen i just mean old skool 2 player on 1 screen fighting together.
last one like that i had was fighting force on ps1
waxc3 - June 4, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
those recent marvel games had that. it is fun.
discostu - June 4, 2008 08:33 PM (GMT)
oh yeah, i only had it on psp tho :(
waxc3 - June 5, 2008 10:49 AM (GMT)
played a little while last night again.
beat the entire second movie in one sitting.
the last boss of the second movie killed me about 20 times. the level The Battle on the Bridge was confusing. took me quite a while to guess what was the one and only way to beat the area and the boss(... sucked).
the mine cart level was a little fun. it is the only mine cart level i have ever seen that has no instant death section.
s0njas0n - June 5, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
i had a love/hate relationship with the mine cart level in the original indiana jones and the temple of doom game. it killed me a lot, but it was so much fun.

you cant die in this one. just round and round and round until you hit all of the switches. easy pretty much to do, and a little fun to try and grab all of the items that are of the edges and abover the tracks.
every other game that had minecarts i have ever played did have lots of death. some of the dk country games come to mind.
edit: you mean the atari 2600? there was no mine cart in that was there? i recall a snake screen with a rock. a parachute screen. a treasure room and a room with like a vendor... and that was the whole game! :lol

me?
i played twice. beat each movie (6 parts) in each sitting.
about three hours each time. pretty short little game to just beat once. no way will i 100% a game like this.
s0njas0n - June 5, 2008 07:55 PM (GMT)
it was the pc game indiana jones and the temple of doom. the object was to release the children from cages and there was a mine cart portion. it was more of a 2D platformer. the nostalgia makes me want to play the lego version.
waxc3 - June 5, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
not sure if i ever saw that one.
i love the music in the lego one (i know stu mentioned something). same with the star wars one. it is really helps conjure the indiana spirit in me! :)
