Title: MMK Dissaperence?
Kintaro - May 18, 2008 12:28 AM (GMT)
Wal-Mart, Gamestop, Gameware, Best Buy. it's not there. Sure, I can buy it on amazon, but why is it not in stores anymore? Does PSP Slim not support it? I'm buying PSP slim soon. (don't tell me "OMG BUY PSP FAT ITS BETTER OMG" I know you think that, I'm still getting slim.) anyway, if someone could tell me as to why it's been pulled before I go rush out and purchase it online from a multi seller place like Ebay or Amazon, it'd be appreciated. :odeon

i don't think they pulled it, i just think think they didn't make that many copies. it's hard to come by. i was lucky and found a used copy at a gamestop out of town.
vix - May 18, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
it hasn't been pulled, it's just that it didn't sell well and not many copies were made it seems.
waxc3 - May 19, 2008 11:13 AM (GMT)
why would people like old psp more than the slim?
you might ask a gamestop manager if he/she feels the game was pulled from shelves. i imagine they sold the couple of copies they received and didnt order any more afterwards.
why would you not just buy your psp when you can, and order the MMK from an online store anyway? trying to save on shipping i guess?
well anyway you get it i wish you happy rolling.
s0njas0n - May 19, 2008 01:58 PM (GMT)
well, some people do like the original better, but if i was going to get one now i would get the slim just for the video out.
and i don't think that they pulled it, i've seen copies at my store, but they don't last very long. it's just one of those games that's hard to get a hold of. online is the easiest unless you're willing to wait. i found mine by random chance after i had been watching for a copy at my local store for a few months.
vix - May 19, 2008 04:31 PM (GMT)
despite the battery issues the slim has, i would have loved to use the video out and play crisis core on my tv.

do they look okay? i ran a videoout from my... hmmm... one of the gameboys.
into the gamecube and could play it onscreen. looked alright i guess.

i'm sure it would be fine. obviously not super quality, but better than ps1 anyway. i've never seen them hooked up to tvs anywhere so i don't have a first hand impression.
i have a super gameboy where i can put gameboy cartridges into a super nintedo cartridge and play them on my snes. good times.
vix - May 19, 2008 11:44 PM (GMT)
super gameboy was awesome. i still have mine. some of the gameboy games made after it came out had a special something in it to let it be in color while in the super gameboy, good times man.

Holy shit you guys, lol.
To all 4 of you (or is it more than that? @_@)
I wanna address a few things here now!:
1. I just got Me & My Katamari. I found it at Saturday Matinee (Some store in my local mall), used, for 14.99. MINT condition. Very happy.
See, I had the same issue, I couldn't find it ANYWHERE. So I had originally got one on Amazon.com, said "Like New" for 38 bux. When I got it, it was scratched, and the casing for the disc was broken so I couldn't even play it! Luckily I complained and got my money back.
So, YES, it's mad hard to find, but not pulled. Just lack of copies. Maybe you should write to Namco.
2. It works fine on the PSP Slim. That's what I have. Absolutely fine. And playing it on the TV is very fun, but it's better on the little screen.
3. Big-screen adaptations of PSP games come out funny, as the system puts in some unreal blur to it all. Perhaps because it's really not High-Def at all, so my High-Def tv won't show it well. Or maybe it's just that it's optimized for the PSP screen. EITHER WAY, it doesn't take up the full screen either! Just a small rectangle RIGHT. IN. THE. MIDDLE.
Ugh...
4. Hope that answered and cleared up anything.
Also, I'm trying to stay active on the forums, it's hard though D: Maybe I should start e-mailing vix things :O
s0njas0n - June 23, 2008 01:03 PM (GMT)
how small is said rectangle on the tv? can you take a picture? i was really interested in getting the new psp, but this could be enough to make me hold on to my money that much longer.

I shall try to get a screenshot for you all later today (June 24th, America :3), probably after work around 4PM or so (EST, GMT -5). Just so you know.
And S0njas0n, um... hm... okay, take a widescreen television. Now you know when you get a fullscreen image, where there are bars on the SIDES? Okay, so you get that, so you have that square box in the middle.
Now take that square box and put the widescreen bars on top and bottom of it, so you have a widescreen image, in the middle of your tv. So it's like they shrunk your tv down.
That's what happens. Unless I'm mistaken and have my settings off... I could try to look into it s'more. Hope that answers it.
And the blur kinda sucks D:
I played PATAPON on my TV the first day and was like "Uh... what?"
s0njas0n - June 24, 2008 12:21 PM (GMT)
that's cool, i was just wondering how much screen space was actually taken up. if it takes up a considerable amount of the screen it might not be too bad, but if it's just like twice the size of the psp screen then it would be pretty lame.
vix - June 24, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
i too am curious to see what this looks like, i've been debating a new psp for a while now.
Danteku - June 24, 2008 07:19 PM (GMT)

First, that's my TV! A 32-inch Samsung :O <3<3. (Don't mind the sparseness of everything else around it... moving and other things going on xD).
Okay, so this first one is to show the TV itself, and the image that appears on it, to show you the actual sizing in comparison! It's not that bad really...
PLUS, when you load up the main screen it takes up the ENTIRE TV screen, but the edges get knocked off slightly. It's not the best system apparently D:. Then you load a UMD and the PSP logo flies in, and looks like it would use up most of the screen, but then it shrinks down to that.

That's to show you actual gameplay. It's the ANT stage with the candy. How sweet! x3 Funny funny indeed. ...anyway...

And that shows you why I don't much enjoy the picture that well. Mind you, it's quite fine really as you play and sit, and you gotta understand it IS just a PSP (Which is like a PS1.5 really), but... I d'no.
OVERALL: I'd say go for it guys, try it out, see what you think. I've yet to see a video clip from, say, Crisis Core on it.
BUT I did put in the Family Guy UMD I got and it has shadowing and ghosting behind every movement. UMDs look shitty. Get a normal DVD for the TV. Hope this helps.
Any other questions, just email dantekuhero@gmail.com
...even though you really won't. lol.
s0njas0n - June 24, 2008 07:35 PM (GMT)
hm, i suppose it's not all that bad. the first picture makes it look like it takes up more than the second screen. ps games don't take up the full screen either, but it's more than that. they probably didn't want to up the size too much or the resolution would be horrible.
vix - June 24, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
mmk did come out some time ago so the newer games might fair better on the tv, i would think crisis core would look better, god of war too, etc.
Danteku - June 25, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
That's very true about the newer games, it might indeed show better.
THE FIRST picture is to show screen ratio and all that.
The SECOND picture is the entire TV (including the sides) and the wall behind it... it's all black because the lights were out so I could get a very clear picture of the game.
So, it's still the same size as the first one. I used no flash in pics 2 and 3 so all you are able to see is the game. xD
Overall, yeah, it's not as bad as I made it out to be I guess... D:

Same here! My husband was looking for it for me beginning in May for my June birthday, and didn't find it until late June find it on Ebay! Still in the wrapper yay! It arrived 2 days ago and I've been playing nonstop. I'm not used to the PSP, but I HAD to have MMK.
