Title: Speed Racer
Description: WTF?

I went to see Speed Racer this past weekend with my staff. I didn't expect much more than bright colors and flashing lights but I figured it'd be fun since my staff is... well... awesome.

But it actually turned out to be pretty awesome D: I'm still raving about it lol It won't last as long as Transformers for me but still it's managed to become the subject of my next Color Drawing assignment.

It was highly stylized but not obnoxiously so... I thought it was a wonderful way of making the Speed Racer story deeper than it was in the cartoons and let's be honest... the races were a lot of fun. There was just enough camp and I rather enjoyed where they took the characters (especially Speed).

Granted I wasn't fond of a few things most of which aren't spoilers per say but I'll keep them to myself for now.

Anyone else see it? What were your thoughts?

I've heard it really wasn't that good. I'll have to check it out at some point.

Yea I don't think the critics liked it... and I know a lot of viewers didn't like it but I think a large part of that is just the lack of experience in regards to the original series. People know of it, vaguely... but they don't get to truly appreciate the transition of the cartoon to the movie. :\ I think 90% of my staff who saw it with me hadn't really ever seen the cartoon.

might become the biggest loss of money this year for any form of entertainment.

i heard that on the new, cost something like 120 million to make and 100 million to market or something like that.

Yea it's not doing so hot D: Which is a real shame.

Bought some toys for it today myself... nifty and real poseable for their size...
