Title: ps3 bc question
waxc3 - April 17, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
hey budros! :cool
i witnessed
Arcana Heart for the ps2 on tv last night.
OMG that looks good! :eek i love and miss 2d fighters.
i am gonna buy this game today i hope if i can find it in stores, my question to you; can i play this PS2 game on my PS3?
i bought the 80 gig ps3. never thought about backwards compatibilty until now. i recall vix telling me something about bc but dont recall what she said...
you people know?
i will play it on my ps2 if i have to but thought this would be a good reason to use my ps3 for something! :smirk
check it:
Check the video dudettes!

um, let's see, IF i remember correctly, the 80 gig might have some bc but it might only be psone games, or that could be the 40gig. I don't remember. if you still have your ps2 handy, it won't be too big of a deal though if it doesn't work. i honestly don't remember with all the versions of the ps3 they've had.
waxc3 - April 17, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
yea exactly. i got confused.
thanks though.
wish/ hope i can play it on the ps3 with the wireless and upscaling.
if i find the game i will try it and tell you what happens.
:china

it worked on the 80 gig ps3.
i put the ps2 disc in. it asks if you want to create a save space for ps2 games?
it backs you out.
you make a file for game saves for ps2 and can name it.
then you scroll down to the game and press start.
walla!

ps2 game with a wireless ps3 controller. nice.
thanks vix.

yeah, i have 2 ps1 and 1 ps2 vitual memory cards on my ps3. they can be a real pain though at times. some games require you have your save file in slot 1 and don't require a save at the beginning of a game. in-game xmb wouldn't even help for that one because ps2 games shut down the ps3 part of the system while playing ps2 games. ok, that obviously wasn't the technical run-down, but i think it gets my point across (maybe? lol)
vix - April 18, 2008 04:52 PM (GMT)
i dig!
I still haven't gotten the einhander save to work cause i haven't busted out hte ps2 like you and hart/usagi(forget which one) said to do.
s0njas0n - April 18, 2008 05:03 PM (GMT)
oddly enough, i think i was the only one who knew how to do that despite never needing to do it myself. i have no idea how i came across that wealth of information, but it helped somebody, lol. :) i was going to ask you if you ever did that of these days, but now i know.
vix - April 18, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)
i've been lazy and haven't wanted to hook up the ps2 to do it. one day i will so i can finally play einhander on the ps3 with my unlocked weapons.

hey guys. just got some money for my graduation and ive been saving so im planning on buying a ps3.
just wondering how much the 80gb one is?
we only get 40gb here
so far this is my shopping list
40gb ps3 and gta4 £330 - £20 credit note
Devil may cry 4 £25
HDMI cable £8
DS3 controller £31
Total £374
how much did you all get your ps3s for?
im considering waiting for a friend or family to bring me back an 80gb if its better value for money
s0njas0n - June 26, 2008 05:25 PM (GMT)
well, i got the 60gb last year and it was $599 or something like that and it's discontinued so you can only get it used. the 80gb isn't for sale new unless you get a bundle as far as i know, and i don't think there are many around. they're averaging about $499 with a game and extra conroller generally. are you thinking of importing a ps3 or just asking?
vix - June 26, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
when i got mine, the price was still 599 i think. but it's dropped, i think. apparently it's hard to find the 80 gig here but it goes for around 500 i think. i can't find a listing for it.
when i got my system, i got oblivion and motorstorm with it so it came close to 800.
discostu - June 26, 2008 05:40 PM (GMT)
well i had my heart set on buying a 40gb uk one for the price listed above but the 80gb is such a brilliant deal. even if i dont play MGS4 i can still sell it saving me big money overall.
ideally id ask family or friends to get it for me so i dont get customs and stuff
s0njas0n - June 26, 2008 05:54 PM (GMT)
if it was me, i'd personally go for the bundle if it's a good deal for you. you get the ps2 compatibility and you don't have to worry about the region codes or anything with the ps3. i would think it would cost quite a bit of money to import it since it's heavy though.
discostu - June 26, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
yeah exactly. another thing is that if it breaks down then i am a little bit screwed.
at the moment im trying to find relatives in asia that might be able to get the 80gb or find someone that works in a game shop that can get me 25% off
s0njas0n - June 26, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
well good luck and hope to see you on psn :)
vix - June 26, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
80 gig is best best. i love the lack of region codes on it. can't wait to import JPN rock band.
discostu - June 26, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
hopefully sooner rather than later. i have time over the sumer
vix - June 26, 2008 06:53 PM (GMT)
good luck getting it. the metal gear 80gig isn't a bad deal at all and you never know, you might play it. :lol
waxc3 - June 30, 2008 11:23 PM (GMT)
i bought the 80 gig a while back. seemed like the best bet.
i have played ps1 and ps2 games on it with never one problem.
mine had just metal storm or whatever it is called with it.
discostu - July 1, 2008 01:19 AM (GMT)
just realised theres no point importing th 80gb cos ps2 games will be different region.
so im waiting til next week when 6axis is released here so maybe it will come with the ps3s
vix - July 1, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
dualshock you mean? sixaxis comes with it currently.
discostu - July 1, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
vix - July 1, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)

discostu - July 1, 2008 02:14 AM (GMT)
how much are they over there?
its apparently it will cost £40 on release here.
online its about £30-35
vix - July 1, 2008 03:34 AM (GMT)

discostu - July 1, 2008 03:39 AM (GMT)
