Title: No Longer Goodbye Again
Description: Lemon Scent is an Now an Ankle-Deep Pool
Jag - April 12, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
Seems like I make one of these every few months.
I'll see you guys later. Try not to get into too much trouble while I'm gone, and do what the babysitter tells you.
I'll try to find a place to hop on while I'm there, but I can't guarantee anything. So you may not see me for the duration.
Anyways, later, have a good time.
Topic Edit: I'm back! Sweet Jesus!
Topic re-edit: Oh yah, off I go again. This time it will be very short (hopefully). A few weeks at most before I return. I know where I'm going, so I should be able to drop by. The biggest pain in the ass is that I'll be gone for my birthday this year...
Topic re-re-edit: I'm back home finally. Though I was utterly useless in Alaska, and all I did was lay around playing Mass Effect. I don't know if I'm still on the hook for October. If I am, I have three weeks until leaving again. I'll probably stop using this topic for saying goodbye since they have Wi-Fi in the desert now so I can stop by anytime.
I made Staff Sergeant during the desert portion of this trip, though I don't sew it on until next August, most likely. I have to celebrate that and my birthday this weekend.

aw, well don't get into too much trouble, either. :heh
vix - April 12, 2008 10:15 PM (GMT)

marbig - April 12, 2008 10:28 PM (GMT)

Jag is live from England now. I've still got quite a bit of travel ahead, but we've got two hours here. Seems sort of anticlimactic to post so soon after saying goodbye, but that's how it is.
A few stolen minutes with my favorite people.
Queen of the Cosmos - April 13, 2008 10:38 PM (GMT)
Ah well, see ya in a bit, hope you come back eventually.

Jag - April 14, 2008 05:18 PM (GMT)
And now I'm at an undisclosed location. Although maybe the access logs show where, who knows.
Anyways, seems I'll be able to get here from one of the base computers every so often. So it's not so bad, yeah!
waxc3 - April 14, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
glad you arrived safe. did you take any games with you?

I'm sure vix knows how to keep her mouth shut. Or we'll have to send in the black ops.

I took all my games with me, excluding the 360 games. Which is just as well, sand gets everywhere. I'm relegated to my Wii and PS2 collections. It all fits nicely into a CD case. Also, what I have for emulation (from the beginning of gaming through N64) on my laptop.
Not that my collection is small, but the doubling up of pockets along with GCN games that can fit on top of that make it fit into 96 slots.
I haven't hooked up my systems or even played any emulators yet, though. The main focus is staying alive in 100+ weather... at 9 A.M. Today was decidedly cooler, though. Because a sandstorm rolled in and blocked the sun.
Well, I don't know if blocked is the correct word; the sun is visible as a pale, white disc hanging behind a screen of brown that covers the entire sky. I thought it was the moon for a second since I could look directly at it with no ill effects, but it's too perfectly round.

just thought i'd ask, but did you hear about the new medic achievements in tf2 and the new weapons? i don't know if you have access to your pc games, but i thought of you when the news came out. iit's available yet, if i remember correctly. how long are you going to be gone, do you know?

would certainly liven up this place :D
vix - April 18, 2008 06:59 PM (GMT)
not in a good way. there'd be black censor bars through everything.
discostu - April 18, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
but you wouldnt go down without a fight would you?
vix - April 18, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
no, but i don't think i would really stand a chance at winning. :lol
discostu - April 18, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
ive got your back V dawg :brucelee
vix - April 18, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
:brucelee awesome. :P
believe me though, if there was a way to make this board active, i'd be all over it but without another game, it's all :dead and it totally didn't help that bk's lifespan was uber short.
discostu - April 19, 2008 12:53 AM (GMT)
why was it so short?
BK hardly boosted activity at all
vix - April 19, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
i think a few factors had to do with the lifespan of bk being so short.
the starting point was the 360. this game would have done just fine as a ps2 game where the fan base for it is. even if they had done multi with the wii included, it would have garnered much more activity i would think.
being only on the 360, a lot of people simply picked it up for the sake of achievement points since it's a simple game to get a bunch of them.
for the most part, bk was just another katamari game with a shiny new coat of hd paint. the awesome levels were there on the disc but you had to pay for them apart from the full game which a lot of people felt it was a rip off. especially when you were only paying for an unlock key to get access to the content. i saw countless threads like that on gamefaqs.
it's sad really, cause namco could have made katamari much more than a cult following.
discostu - April 19, 2008 03:17 AM (GMT)
ive never seen the point in achievements, seems like a waste of time to me
vix - April 19, 2008 04:13 AM (GMT)
i feel the same but at the same time i see their appeal.

I'm sure the domain is af.mil. At the very worst, it's still rather obfuscated anyways. I'm not on any country domain, which is a pain in the ass, since the Blue Coat proxy government computers use blocks some of my favorite sites.
vix - April 25, 2008 04:42 PM (GMT)
I'm just gonna continue to be :dead in this matter. :D
s0njas0n - April 25, 2008 04:46 PM (GMT)
well, you said sandstorms, so that's obviously um... maine. :P
vix - April 25, 2008 04:53 PM (GMT)
what? i thought that was south dakota? :P
Jag - May 1, 2008 09:35 AM (GMT)
I think God turned his hair dryer and forgot to turn it off, placing it on his counter in such a way that a continuous blast of hot air hits this region. It's been like this for several days now, and another sandstorm has rolled in today.
It's quite miserable. The days with wind used to be cooler, but somehow, the wind is now hotter than the ambient air. I've never experienced such a thing. Wind is supposed to be cooling. I just spent three hours out in it (to be fair, I was also on a giant parking lot), and the sweat was enough to soak through my entire uniform.
fleacollar - May 6, 2008 12:10 AM (GMT)
That's gross. It'd be even more gross if you couldn't wash your uniform everyday, unless you get multiple uniforms, but still...
Jag - May 6, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
I have four uniforms, but laundry takes three days to get back here. So... uh... yeah...
Jag - May 7, 2008 12:23 PM (GMT)
Just had my evaluation, so now I'm fully mission qualified. And it only took three years, a month and a few days to do. Now I have to wait and see if I get attached to a normal crew out here. If I do, it will be extremely tiring for the rest of my time out here. If I don't, it will be extremely boring.
I think I handle boredom better, I'm already sleeping 10+ hours a night. Catching up on all the sleep I never get back in America.
s0njas0n - May 7, 2008 12:59 PM (GMT)
sleeping is overrated. :P
Jag - May 25, 2008 10:18 PM (GMT)
Getting real sick of this place...
s0njas0n - May 25, 2008 10:27 PM (GMT)
aww, sorry. do you know when you're coming back?
Jag - May 26, 2008 09:15 PM (GMT)
Yeah, not much longer, but it still feels like a long time away.
s0njas0n - May 27, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)
well, that's good anyway :)
Jag - June 20, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)
Waiting on the plane ride home. Just a few more hours.
Incidentally, tomorrow will be the longest day of my life (32 hours). Kind of fitting for the first day of summer.
