i still don't quite get exactly how the DMW works but it's definitely a change of pace.

well, i just know it likes to scroll on the side during combat and when it matches up 2 characters on the side it activates the modulation mode.

i'm just about through with chapter 2, i've done 16 missions so far. and i'm only level 11, what's up with that? it's ok, it's not like i'm in trouble or anything, it just seems unfair that you've done as much or around the same amount as i have and i'm so much lower than you.

edit: ok, finished chapter 2, and there are so many side missions. i feel compelled to do them all as soon as possible for my benefit, but they're so freakin boring. oh well, i'll do them anyway, just not right now.

i do agree that the side missions are boing since essentially they are the same thing. get items and kill stuff.

i think i'm around level 15 or 16 and i haven't even gone into chapter 2 yet i believe. i hate that it's a matter of luck

did you talk to that captain to unlock a bunch before going into shinra?

yeah, i unlocked all of the ones i could during chapter 2, as far as i can tell. how many did you do? i haven't done much in the way of chapter 3, but they told me hojo was in the lab so i went and talked to him before i turned my game off, lol.

yep, that hojo is something else, wanted me to die against his experiments. man, he rocks my world :lol

i couldn't help but laugh while doing hojo's experiments.

i think i've done either 11% or 13% of the missions and i still have more to unlock but i went to bed instead. I'm trying to do them as much as possible before i move on to the main story just to get them out of the way.

oh yeah, so it took me a few days to figure this out and some slight research but it seems that the leveling up might not be as random as we think. i'm on 17 or 18 at the moment and it still makes little sense why you're so much lower than me but...

according to the guide book, each level has an amount of exp associated with it and each monster has a number of exp you get for killing it. it's just not a visible system. so once you reach that correct amount of exp, you should get the 777 soon, either in the same battle or area or the next time you ACM.

man, vix, i guess i'm really going to have to work hard at this to keep up to you... i haven't really played any today, but i'm going to play a little now... i don't really feel tired which is weird.

(somewhat related, lol) i went to get a haircut this afternoon and the lady who cut my hair was i would guess around 40. she asked me what game i was playing and i told her, and she said she hadn't heard of crisis core, but she's been playing tomb raider. she has a psp, a ds, ps2, and gamecube and she gave up all this information just by seeing i was playing. i was like, sweet... plus she was really nice so i'll probably go see her when i get my hair cut again.

i was playing cc all afternoon in bed again.

i just started chapter 3, i got my 1st class soldier uni and then stopped. i had spent most of my time just doing missions. the ones i have available have the very hard rating so i'm gonna wait a while. i think i'm level 22 now. 15 or 17% missions done. there's so many of them and the're all the same. i was gonna continue with chapter 3 but i had to do the dinner thing so i didn't want to get caught up in the story and then have to stop. so i'll probably do that later.

wow, that's like 45 missions completed... so you've done as much in the story as i have, but have been killing those missions. so you did fight against hojo's 5 levels of monsters where you actually talk to hojo in the training room? or are you talking about the other side missions with hojo's creatures? he's so hot i might go back and talk to him again before i leave. he might start to think zack has a crush on him.

this materia fusion thing is somewhat confusing :(

i've done hojo's 5 missions and some of his side stuff that you get in the mission menu.

the 5th creature you fight was easier i thought than the reasearchers made it out to be.

i got 1st and then stopped so when i start back up i'll be going to Lazzard again for the second part of the mission.

i read that you would sympathize with sephiroth some. i have been leveling up this time which is nice. did you do mission 3-1-3... or has that been unlocked yet because it says it unlocks at the beginning of chapter 3. and from what i understand you said there were 2 parts to chapter 3? maybe it's after the first part. otherwise, i'm very confused.

i do agree, i meant to say before, that materia fusion is really confusing.

i don't have 3-1-3 unlocked yet and i saw the guide said the start of chapter 3 so i was all confused also.

well, i hope it will show up later and i didn't miss something. otherwise that would make me sad. i pulled out the fusion chart... you can act like you're doing materia fusion and cancel it at the last moment. i did that once. i didn't actually fuse anything.

i fused whatever the guy told me to fuse when i was told i could do it. i like having two extra slots now though.

err, i think it was fire materia and thunder materia. he gave you them so i figured why not. i think it made lightning.

i looked it up on another site and it says 3-1-3 becomes available in chapter 5. but if you look at the chart at the beginning of each section of missions it's available in chapter 4... i guess we will see.

i ended up not progressing the story any. i'm gonna play some now but only do side stuff in hopes that i gain a few levels.

3-1-3 opens up in chapter 4, it's official. those yuffie missions are amusing. the ones where the sodier 3rd class can't do his own bidding were annoying, i wanted to smack him.

i really like the music in the church... i think it's this one... aerith's theme 2... then again i really like the violin and that's what it sounds like.

i only have a few slots on the dmw open, a summon or 2, cloud, and cactuar, but i think i can get cactuar soon. have you gotten chocobo mode character change? that is weird and confusing... one time i got 3 different figures on the dmw and it injured me instead of helping "dud level 4" 100 damage, lol.

i got to the start of chapter 4 last night too. i paused the main story though to do side missions. i had done all of the yuffie ones when i got to the mako reactor so i started to do a bunch of other missions that i unlocked and had left since i managed to level up a few times in a row.

did you see the little blurb in the book that leveling up is based on exp but even if you have enough exp to get to the next level, you can't levle up until you get the 777 so feasably you could have enough exp to level up three or four times but not even hit it once cause you didn't get the 777.

i have cactuar, cait sith, moogle, and three summons. it seems i'm only missing cloud, three summons, and three of the other things. i've done the chocobo stomp and got cait sith a few times but haven't gotten cactuar to appear in the DMW yet.

i saw this comment in the guide gook about how you can get X% in the missions up to this point and still not do any very hard and i was all like...umm, i've done a bunch of em so far.

i did all of the yuffie ones in the reactor, too. it was still funny because she's a dork. still not as funny as when zack pretended to be injured by her in the first chapter, but amusing nontheless.

i think i've done 18% of the missions. still behind you i'm sure. i just haven't gotten around to getting cactuar yet. i need to. i just unlocked it.

i believe the thing about leveling up, it's happened multiple times where i haven't leveled up for an hour or 2 then i level up 3 times in the same mission. it's kind of annoying, but hasn't affected me in a bad way yet.

cactuar unlocks in a side mission, you have to bypass the boss and walk around him to get to cactuar i think. i dunno. i forget.

yuffie is only 9 years olf, why is she wandering around midgar like this? :lol :lol

yeah, i did that, but then you have to do the cactuar side missions or something. i defeated the cactuar in the genesis mission already. well, i don't really know how to add him to the dmw, but i figure it has something to do with that.

well, i know she was in wutai before, no clue how she got to midgar seeing how her town/city is on an island by itself. i don't know if you knew that since you didn't play the original.

yeah, i was aware of wutai from DoC. :D but she's seriously just a kid, lol.

oh, i didn't realize there were cactuar missons. i'll get on that. :)

i think it might just be an item in a treasure chest because cait siths megaphone was in one of them, and that might have been what added him to the dmw.

oh, then yeah, i have cactuar, just never had him activated yet.

i don't have him on my dmw, that's kinda why i was asking... i asked the guy at gamestop about the materia fusion. he sorta knew what he was doing, but i was uber confused, lol

i played a tiny bit last night, doing some missions. I'll probably do some more missions today as well and maybe venture out into the slums.

i left my psp at home so i wouldn't be tempted to play. i don't think my friend would appreciate me playing the whole time we were together, lol.

so what is your mission completion percentage? i'm only at 24%, i imagine you're like 50% or something crazy like that. i'm going to attempt to go as far as i can in the story at this point. at the level i currently am, i think i can make it through the next couple of chapters easy. if it gets too hard after that i'll level up by doing some missions. then you won't have to say something something.

as i'm wandering through sector 5, i look at the children and think of the ones that were infected in advent children. when i talk to them i fully expect to see denzel or something. they weren't even born during the timeline the game takes place though, i think.

I forgot about the infected kids in AC. That's funny. I think denzel was just a wee lass during FFVII but didn't show up until the novella's or something like that and then in AC.

I'm trying to do some of the missions before I move on to chapter 8 since it's gonna be a while till I come back and have access to unlimited phoenix downs/revive potions.

oh and i didn't have any emotional attatchment to aerith in the original, but i like her more now in crisis core. i think it was because those fights between aerith and tifa were like kinda dumb.

that's true, though she tried to play cloud like she did with zack in ffvii. sorta. i mean the whole... when i see you in the church you could pay me back with a date thing. going to the park together. she's a playa.
