Title: Unbeatable Banzuke

vix - March 12, 2008 02:45 AM (GMT)
it's another one of G4's Japanese import shows. In the same style as ninja warrior...there's people competing in strength tasks and what not. It's pure awesome. Like stilt's obstacle courses or walking on your hands obstacle course or this daruma challenge that's kinda like jenga.

unfortunately, the clips on youtube were removed so i can't post anything, but here's a link to where you can watch some: http://www.g4tv.com/dutyfree/ the one of them tossing the people in the air to grab on to things was nuts.

Ahh, yes, I saw this before. I love UB and Ninja Warrior.

I think I like UB more because they have unbelievable tasks that require more than strength. Also, I love how all age groups compete with a chance. An 11 year old cleared a unicycle track better than most of the adults.

Ninja Warrior is all about strength, a lot of it...especially the newest course(no one even passed the first stage). But UB seems to be about strength and strategy too, along with some brains.

i keep meaning to watch that show, but never remember when it's on.

what bothers me about ninja warriors is that too many mens courses rely on height as well. so many very capable guys fail because they can not reach something.
i like watching the womens specials most! more fun overall.

vix - March 12, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
some of the obstacles on NW rely on height but lately it seems they rely on pure strength since no one passed the first stage last time.

i don't think i watched the last ninja warrior course, but i know the last one i watched (a couple of months ago) 3 people or less made it past the first stage and no one got past the second. i think it's weird they made it that much farther. not only is it funny to see people fail in ridiculous ways, but it was also nice to see a few fight to the end on the last round. they're just making it too hard if nobody out of a few hundred can pass because some of those people train for years and make their own courses. if they can't pass it, nobody can.

vix - March 12, 2008 05:59 PM (GMT)
i think it's number 19 that no one got past the first stage. even the all stars couldn't do it. though they did make the first stage insane now.

what do the NW winners get anyway? i think only one guy ever beat all courses; that one fisherman (i can hear his name in my head)...

vix - March 12, 2008 06:24 PM (GMT)
two have beaten it so far. the partially blind ex-crab fisherman(can't remember his name) and then mokota nagano the other fisherman. i think they get money as the prize.

I love Ninja Warrior. I've seen bits of this one so far. It seems like it doesn't stay at the set same time everyday so I've been trying to catch it.

I haven't heard of it. I've seen Ninja Warrior though. While it looks very cool, I don't find it very entertaining. MXC is quite funny.

see, i find mxc to be dumb now. i used ot like it at first but it just seems to be the stupid commentary.

I haven't really watched it since last year; it does get boring. I can still laugh at a lot of the stuff the contestants say when it's their turn.

vix - March 13, 2008 05:15 PM (GMT)
at first the commentary was amusing since it was so painfully fake but then it just got stupid and i only really liked wathcing the stunts. probably why i like NW and UB over super happy fun fun product show or whatever it's called. lol

s0njas0n - March 14, 2008 12:26 PM (GMT)
i've never heard of mxc, is that on g4 too?

vix - March 14, 2008 05:17 PM (GMT)
i think mxc was on spike. not sure if it's still on though.

s0njas0n - March 31, 2008 02:18 PM (GMT)
i've been watching unbeatable banzuke when i see it on, it's highly entertaining. as i have told you before i enjoy seeing people fall off of the foam board thing. i think i still like ninja warrior better.

vix - March 31, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)
i like this too cause it's about different skills. not just about sheer strength.

s0njas0n - March 31, 2008 06:44 PM (GMT)
i need to do the handwalking thing... i would totally make a spectacle and fall on my face in the beginning.

vix - March 31, 2008 08:06 PM (GMT)
the unicycle one and the giant daruma and extra kendama and a few others have me intrigued. have you seens neko de drive yet? hahahahahah.

s0njas0n - March 31, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
i don't think so, what is it?

vix - April 1, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
it's a cat wheelbarrow that you sit on and not in...and one tries to push you through this ridiculous course and most of the couples i saw do it were couples that were married for 30, 40 years so they weren'tt exactly spring chickens.

s0njas0n - April 1, 2008 04:28 AM (GMT)
haha, sounds funny. i'll keep my eye out for it.

Kris - April 3, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
I've managed to catch a few episodes and this show is pretty cool. I like giant daruma event. Reminds me of jenga on drugs. :lol
