Title: Team Fortress 2
vix - March 10, 2008 06:04 AM (GMT)
so far i like medic, engineer and solider.
what about you guys?
seems like the ps3 servers got the short end of the stick as usual.

i see you've taken a liking to tf2 now :) yay, it's fun. i like a few classes, heavy is hard because you're so slow, but i've gotten a couple of kills. i think i've tried all of them now.
vix - March 10, 2008 06:26 AM (GMT)
yeah, it's good stuff. it's a nice chance of pace.
s0njas0n - March 10, 2008 07:15 AM (GMT)
actually i did pretty good with the heavy after a while.
pros: lots of hp, high powered weapon
cons: you have to wait a couple of seconds before your fire actually kicks in, you move soooo slow, even slower while shooting.
marbig - March 10, 2008 07:42 AM (GMT)
It's great to pick up when you want to play something different.
I like playing as a Spy most of the time. But I mix it up.
s0njas0n - March 10, 2008 12:25 PM (GMT)
i've tried spy, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, i need to learn how to sap turrets, that would help, lol.
edit: after reading up and watching a couple of vids about the spy, it looks pretty fun. you just have to be pretty stealthy. i have a hard time keeping my cool, i tend to run and gun and die :P. from what i understand, you can run into teammates and be fine, but not enemies without revealing yourself.
vix - March 10, 2008 05:40 PM (GMT)
that's my problem too, i'm all gung ho guns blazing so spy doesn't quite suit me. :lol
s0njas0n - March 10, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
next time i play i'm really going to try and do the spy thing. i tried it for one game last night, just kinda guessing how it all went and my heart was racing.... i was really playing the part.
when walking through the underwater cyclinders in 2fort you can really tell how the footsteps sound for each class :P
vix - March 10, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
i was thinking about this randomly while trying to fall asleep around 5am...
i wonder if the engineer can build a sentry underwater in 2fort...
s0njas0n - March 10, 2008 06:08 PM (GMT)
i kept dreaming about it too, that you were playing and that i was going to join the game... weird. anyway, it's probably possible though i've seen more from around the corner where there's a spot between the 2 cylinder things. when you get on either side of the fort.
vix - March 10, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
tis true.
you gonna be online tonite to play some more?
s0njas0n - March 10, 2008 06:17 PM (GMT)
hopefully. i'm gonna be able to. i can't believe i only got a few hours of sleep last night. i'm glad we got kicked when we did, i didn't want to get up at all. i gotta watch it. i do want to play though, hopefully there will be some good servers up tonight. if not you can be an engineer and i'll try to sap your sentry. lol. no that was really lame.
vix - March 10, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
that was the lamest online match we ever played in any games before. :lol
s0njas0n - March 10, 2008 06:34 PM (GMT)
well it is called team fortress, so 1v1 isn't really much of a team, nor is 2v0 for that matter.
vix - March 10, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)
dood, 2 on 0 is awesome. :heh
though that last game we hooked up with was awesome.
s0njas0n - March 10, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
i was definitely confused, that's for sure.
vix - March 10, 2008 07:08 PM (GMT)
oh, i know. here we are winning. we're all defending the control point and the next thing we know, we're all dead.

| do people on your TF2 team talk or just run and gun with no regard for teamwork? |
there's very little talking it seems. that's why i wish we could make parties too. hopefully in a patch.
i've noticed that just by looking at what classes your teammates are, you can gather enough to decided what to do and how to do it.
i was in a match last night where even though no one was talking, it was extremely organized.
since there's classes, you can't totally be run and gun. i find myself using strategy now though i still suck at the spy.
s0njas0n - March 12, 2008 06:56 PM (GMT)
it would help if there were people talking, only twice have i heard anything and once it was a girl saying "why are you putting your sentries so close together?" and the other time it was 2 guys talking about why they were playing tf2. on the other platforms i'm sure there are people who talk, there's just not a lot of people on the ps3 servers, unfortunately.
you can pick up on things, like if there's a heavy and you're a medic, you try and pair up. if there are 2 engineers, it's nice to help with sentry maintenance, etc. there are just some things that seem natural. but for 2 completely organized teams to go against each other that would be quite the battle. it would be nice to see a little more teamwork.
vix - March 12, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
yeah, it's a shame they don't talk more. well, if you and me play tonite, we should talk while playing.
s0njas0n - March 12, 2008 07:18 PM (GMT)
it's probably better than using aim. and to alert people of those spies, gah.
vix - March 12, 2008 07:19 PM (GMT)
i find it highly amusing that we're having the same conversation on the board and on AIM at the same time. lol
but yeah, there were times where i died and then saw spies behind you and was all, sppppyyyy! but i didn't have my headset on.
s0njas0n - March 12, 2008 07:26 PM (GMT)
yeah, i've had that happen too, but i didn't know if anyone was listening... well, it's almost the same conversation, this is a little more on-topic.
vix - March 12, 2008 07:38 PM (GMT)
i wonder if you can hear people chatting without a headset plugged in...hmmm...
s0njas0n - March 12, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
if so, they don't talk very much so you wouldn't notice. a total of less than 50 words were spoken in 5 hrs of playing.
vix - March 12, 2008 07:52 PM (GMT)
we'll have to change that tonite! it's my mission. :P
s0njas0n - March 12, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
make tf2 a chatroom, sounds like a plan... and i'm sure i'll be on tonight, i had so much sleep the past 2 nights i'll probably be up. (sidenote: because bleach will be tonight, too)
vix - March 12, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
oh, i know. i'm eagerly waiting for bleach, it's gonna own.
we should try that pyro engineer strategy tonite too.
i wish we could make our own room, then could practice with spies and sapping.
s0njas0n - March 13, 2008 12:38 PM (GMT)
i blame it on the game freezing. if it never did that, i wouldn't have to lie down, and i wouldn't have fallen asleep during the mystery system update. yeah, that must be it. :rolleyes oh and stomach pain... but it's all good now.
vix - March 13, 2008 05:20 PM (GMT)
apparently the new firmware lets any ps2 game that needed an HD now work on the ps3....:doh
anyways, we'll have to try and play tonite. i got into the match and i'm like...she fell asleep. lol
s0njas0n - March 13, 2008 05:23 PM (GMT)
yep, that would be me. :D well, you got to see my spy skills anyway. you know i'm an awesome spy who can't get a kill. the only kill i've ever gotten as a spy was in 2fort, i wasn't disguised and i shot them... yeah, no stealth involved. :P
vix - March 13, 2008 05:32 PM (GMT)
i think i've gotten one or two kills as a spy. i tried last night but sucked at it. i played a few different levels last night. i forget which one but the team i was one was winning 5 control points in under 3 minutes. it was nuts. we won 5 matches in probably 10 minutes.

If you’ve signed in to the PLAYSTATION Network tonight on your PS3, you probably noticed that you were prompted to upgrade the system’s firmware to v2.17. In case you were wondering what it’s all about (and a quick Google search indicates that yes, you are) the operating stability of some online PS3 titles has been improved.
Hope that clears things up!

s0njas0n - March 13, 2008 05:52 PM (GMT)
yeah, there was speculation it was a stability fixer hopefully it will help with tf2. anyway, i'm going to be busy again tonight, so hopefully i'll be able to do it. maybe coffee? :D
vix - March 13, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
if you're gonna be busy, how are you gonna be around to play? or do you mean you're just gonna be awake? heh
s0njas0n - March 13, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
busy as in this evening, meaning by the time i'm done i might be able to play if i'm not falling asleep, which has been my track record lately. this is where coffee comes in.
vix - March 13, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
awesome. i got stuck in an underwater tunnel last night and almost drowned. i forget what map it was though.
s0njas0n - March 13, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)
didn't know there was lung capacity in the game, the only place i've been in the water is 2fort, nobody guards that area

i like gravel pit pretty good, hydro was kinda fun, but that game took toooo long.
when we were playing dustbowl, there was a scout on our team (red) and he kept running in circles on the cp swinging his club. it was kinda funny, i don't know if you saw him. i've never seen anyone defend a cp like that before, :lol
