Title: Favorite Types of Animation

So what's your favorite style of animation? Choose up to 3 or vote for other.
Lately, I've been all over Anime and CG. As I've posted before, I loved Advent Children and The Spirit Within.

even though the core ffvii fanbase hated advent children, i enjoyed it. i started to watch it in japanese last night, the story is translated so much more different than the verbal english but i got too tired and went to bed instead.

between bleach, cars, advent children, it's mostly been animated stuff for me too lately.

i fully respect all styles, but anime is my fav.
i knew as a young boy in the early 70s that something was special about the way these japanese cartoons looked.
i strived to steal their style and never got very good at it.
i could see that the disney movies coming out at the same time looked way better (all hand painted cels at that time) but the anime flair appealed to me most.
my fav is rumiko takahashi! osamu tezuka is another fav. (both are technically more manga artists though).

good idea for a topic
what about 2d in a 3d environment, flash animation, stop frame, claymation like wallace and gromit or even flip books :D
i like classic western style cartoons more.

Anime and CG for me. CG can look really beautiful when done right, and anime has a certain appeal to it.

Honestly I like it all. I love animation. But I'm getting really tired of how much CG3D there is. There's something to be said for more traditional and 2D forms of animation. It just feels like a lot of the CG3D is being used as a trend and because supposedly the audience likes it better.
A few of my friends are animation majors and I have so much respect for them in anything they do. I tried CG3D in high school and I just didn't have the patience for that. D: But I can tell it's extremely rewarding to see something you create "come to life".
Man what I'd give if I could animate all my characters in my spare time D: I'll just have to settle for drawing them here and there and waving the paper around as though they were moving lol

Oh yeah! I love stop motion stuff! It completely slipped my mind.

yeah, i like some claymation... the corpse bride impresses me, but stuff like rudolph that my mom used to make me watch was not quite as impressive and i hated them.
vix - February 1, 2008 06:11 PM (GMT)
impressive for it's time, but that stuff like rudolph is dated now.
s0njas0n - February 1, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
very true, but i never liked it... i realize it was done before i was born, but i didn't like it when i was little and i don't like it now. i know very opinionated, but i have selected taste on claymation... for example, i don't really care for wallace and gromit, but i loved the nitemare before christmas and the corpse bride... then again that just might be a tim burton thing. i guess it's because it was so good you couldn't tell if it was clay or cgi.
vix - February 1, 2008 07:28 PM (GMT)
the tim burton ones are awesome stuff. i never really cared much for rudolph either. then again, i'm not much into xmas.
waxc3 - February 4, 2008 11:58 AM (GMT)
i was really into the stop motion ones from when i was little, like the rudolph one.
hard to watch now, but i have seen them like 30 times! :lol
