Beautiful Katamari officially rolling to Europe
The Xbox 360 iteration of the quirky ball-rolling game coming to the PAL region in Q1.
By Emma Boyes, GameSpot UK

Europeans were worried it might never happen. Looking back, the very first Katamari game--Katamari Damacy, brainchild of oddball game director Keita Takahashi--never made it to European shores.

The sequel, We Love Katamari, was released in the region on February 3, 2006, but since the release of Beautiful Katamari on October 16 in the US there has been no official word on a date for the game in Europe.

Atari today reassured those gamers that the game would indeed be coming to Europe--and although it doesn't have a definite date, it will be sometime in February.

Beautiful Katamari is the first game in the series to leave the PlayStation brand and travel to the 360, and promises more of the same addictive rolling action and soundtrack, and a host of multiplayer options. Up to four players will be able to battle it out to roll up the biggest Katamari, and a range of "suitably Katamari-style downloadable content" will also be available.

vix - January 10, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
just saw this on kotaku and everyone's whining about how it's the uglies next gen game out there. people just don't get it. :P

s0njas0n - January 10, 2008 05:59 PM (GMT)
yeah, it doesn't make much sense. i hate how everything is about graphics these days. i mean, they're as good as they can be right now without changing the whole appearance of the game.

vix - January 10, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)
yeah and katamari wouldn't have the same charm and appeal with realistic graphics. i love my block people. :D

s0njas0n - January 11, 2008 02:18 AM (GMT)

vix - January 11, 2008 03:18 AM (GMT)

s0njas0n - January 11, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
i love the japanese box art for mmk. i want to get the jp version for that reason. i don't think i will though.

When I get it, the first thing I'll do after completing some tasks is to find someone to challenge to a Thingy Battle

Yeah, I have had one since July.
Unfortunately, I can't play online as I'm still on dial up internet. In any cases, my GT is Loseven, feel free to add me. :)

Karppa - January 13, 2008 12:51 AM (GMT)
Bah, I bought the kids a Wii for xmas, very unlikely that I'll get an XboX360 in the near future...

And all you Wii haters should play Super Mario Galaxy for some hours before saying anything bad about Wii again, ever. :P

marbig - January 13, 2008 05:22 AM (GMT)
Great news, hopefully this means me as well.

Anyway, congratulations European rollers! May the Prince be with you.

lorenzo, yea same here. on dial up. no live for me. hope you enjoy some new rolling!

karp' i would like to play the new mario thingie yea, but as a gaming sytem overall it is just not for me! there could be possibly 2 games ever that will be on that toy that i would enjoy. if i had kids i would get a wii.
i bought the ps3, though i only liked 2 games on that thus far, but wanted the bluray player as well.
360 has all the shooters and m rated goodness i enjoy.

Beautiful Katamari rolling into Oz
Latest Katamari game dated for March release in Australia.
By Randolph Ramsay, GameSpot AU
Posted Jan 13, 2008 10:39 pm ET
The King of All Cosmos is rolling his way down under again, with Beautiful Katamari finally getting an Australian release date.

Fans of the quirky series will have to wait for a few more months, however. The Xbox 360 game, which was released in the US last October, is slated for Australian stores in March 2008. Beautiful Katamari once again sees the Prince of All Cosmos having to fix a potentially universe-destroying mistake by his father, the King, by rolling around and gathering all sorts of junk in an increasingly large ball.

waxc3 - January 14, 2008 05:58 PM (GMT)
is australia and new z another territory for releases? i know they are super strict.

vix - January 14, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
I believe so.

north america? mexico?

others?

is canada seperate from us?
where does south america and africa fall?
hmmm how many different game regions are there?

slo_bro - January 15, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
This is very good news. I am extremely glad to hear this. It doesn't make any sense to me for European katamari fans to have to miss out on this game.

SeamonkyNG and Japanese player TOMI_NT beware, Lo7 has beaten all my KD and WLK scores convincingly; if he gets broadband internet no score on the leaderboard is safe.

It's all so confusing. Why couldn't there just have been one region? None of this PAL, NTSC etc crap.
Oh well, March it is. That should give me time to sell my PS2.

Well, being only a child, I do not yet have a job. So the best way for me to get money really is by selling stuff. I will still keep a few of my games that are important to me, but seeing as how PS3s no longer support emulation of PS/2, I may not even need them.

i understand my friend. i once had no job too! and used to stand and stare at the new atari 2600 games wishing i could have them all!
but you will regret getting rid of all these things when you get older. especially considering how much you are ripped of when trading in games typically.

i understand... but it is still sad.

Oh, it's not too bad. $200 for my PS2 (which I might add is one of the old ones and has a chip or two) and some old games that I don't like. I'll have to keep the important ones, such as Parappa the Rapper and WLK.
I do hope March is right.

waxc3 - January 15, 2008 12:27 PM (GMT)
i got ya man. 200 is alot.
just please keep the rare games and the ones that you really enjoyed!

marbig - January 15, 2008 12:32 PM (GMT)
Will do, Wax. I tend to often keep a game I really enjoyed playing, even if I don't think I'll play it much again. I feel I owe it to the game, because it gave me a lot of fun.

s0njas0n - January 15, 2008 01:40 PM (GMT)
makes me sad... i sold a bunch of my stuff and wish i had it all back. my dreamcast and all of the games and some of my snes games (though i did keep the console).

waxc3 - January 15, 2008 04:27 PM (GMT)
when i was in college for my undergrad i didnt live at home for 3 years.
my youngest brother during that time managed to lose or loan out or trade most of my NES games.
i know over 40 are gone forever because of that. a few genesis games too i think...
that stinks.

i love collecting games and hate to see people need to get rid of things that they like.
if a game sucks or you never want to see it/play it again i am all for it, but it always makes me sad...
one of my best friends is often in need of money and he sells off his games all the time! and has often repurchased them at a later date to make matters worse.

i am a little ocd as well so i need to collect things to be happy/ remain balanced. games are one of the things i collect
