Title: DLC Now available (really!)
jezebelseven - November 21, 2007 03:17 PM (GMT)
I knew this would happen-- the week Rock Band comes out and steals all my attention, bam, DLC is finally out.
Milky Way Constellations, The Weaver Girl, Shopping Spree, and High Calorie Katamari, as well as the accessory and character sets are all now available.
I'm jumping to the assumption this is available everywhere now, but I'm on my US account, so take that for what it's worth.
hohez - November 21, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
That is some hot action, just downloaded all 4. Time to get 1250/1250. Thanks for the heads up Jez

Please let me know if it's possible to get 1250/1250 with just these levels. As far as I know this is only the partial offering of DLC. More will be necessary to get the full amount of achievements, cousins and presents.
katamari > kalamari - November 21, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
Sweet! The shopping stage and the calorie stage have new areas!
Psikorps - November 21, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
I'm sad as cold Miso now...Canada gets shafted again. (prob next week/month we get it)
N/M for some reason it was not showing up in the marketplace untill I accessed it from within the game itself.
Sully - November 21, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
BK took a backseat to GH3, and now that I have RB, I'm going to have to pull myself away to get the BK DLC. Vids of the new stuff later tonight, hopefully
Ultimate Katamari Lover <3 - November 22, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
Awesome! I can't wait until I get my copy of BK for Christmas. :smirk
kekvitirae - November 22, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
If I buy the new levels, are the new cousins in them as well, or do I have to buy the cousin packs as well?
And on that note, if I just want the Princess, can I just buy the cousin pack, or do I need to buy the levels as well to find them?
Psikorps - November 22, 2007 03:50 AM (GMT)
The new cousins, and presents are in the new levels, if you get the levels you get them. The present/cousin packs are for the lazy people who dont want to take the time to find them (even though you have to find them to get the achievement).
**Not all cousins or presents are available from the current DLC though**
kekvitirae - November 22, 2007 03:58 AM (GMT)
Is the Princess available in the DLC choices we have right now?
katamari > kalamari - November 22, 2007 05:52 AM (GMT)
No, sorry.
List from memory:
Harvest
Columbo
Miki
Pokkle
Hans
Honey
There might be 1 or 2 more.

Yup, it's just a partial offering. The cousin and present achievements will almost certainly require the other 3 downloadable levels too.
katamari > kalamari - November 22, 2007 06:32 PM (GMT)
Here's a list of new presents Gum Candy Kite and Drum.
With gum the cousin will blow bubbles and they will pop. This animation repeats forever.
Candy(really cool) makes the cousin look like candy. It's the kind of wrapper that is commonly over mints and Toosty Rolls and things.(The kind that is twisted at the ends) They usually come out of the sides of the head on the long head shaped cousins. On some with odd-shaped heads they come out of the top. For example on Miso it makes a red half-sphere go over his bowl with the twisty-tie on top.
Kite is just a kite behind them.
Drum is just some drums in front of them.

Now I'm even more jealous that I don't have this game (or an Xbox 36).
khfan1 - November 24, 2007 05:01 AM (GMT)
GETTING THE NEW STUFF TONIGHT! Yeeee. I had enough for the shopping level earlier. It's fun
AlaskaDave - November 24, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
yeah my scores are already up :rolleyes
heh this is awesome! I'm so glad its finally here and I will gladly pay my money to TPTB for more DLC! :D :D
I hope you guys upload your scores tonight (here on vix's boards) -- I can't break my kcal score and I'm itching to see what some of you bastards are pulling already :thumbsup
My call? slo_bro and Sully have probably already topped 1.5kcal on Munchies Manor :lol
khfan1 - November 24, 2007 05:37 PM (GMT)
I'm somewhere around 1.3mil

I can't top like 1.283kcal :lol
and I can't believe people's scores on Fancy & Shmancy's! :drool I love the Time Attack on that stage, just like Save The Pandas in WLK... I'm hovering near the 4mil range and i know there are high 7mils out there... The more you play it the more little hidden gems you find I spose! Off to the supermarket :china
s0njas0n - December 4, 2007 04:14 PM (GMT)
well, hopefully we'll get the new content tomorrow since it's been 2 weeks since the last one and japan got theirs well over a month ago (within a week of the game's release :()
also, a couple of weeks ago japan got a christmas theme set for the dashboard. i'm not saying i want it, but if it gets released here it might be late, lol.
slo_bro - December 5, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
AlaskaDave, I said this in a different thread, but your 2m15cm7mm Lover's Loom diameter is one of the most impressive things I've seen in any stage. On the route I use, all I can get is 2m15cm5mm in eternal. I tried grabbing all the small stuff right away (before it disappears) and got to 2m15cm9mm in eternal, but I don't have anywhere near enough time in Normal to do that.
One Japanese player has 2m15cm8mm on the online leaderboard ... and if your diameter was there you'd be tied for second :thumbsup good job!

I hope (as I'm sure many others do) that it's soon! I'm dying here!! LOL!
It's totally unfair that the Japanese have sooooo much extra time with the DLC....we're really lagging on the leaderboards because of it!
Ok, I'm gonna stop whining now :P :D

I know, I'm waiting for the day where I see one of you guys' names up there in first place :notworthy
but, like I said on that other thread, I'm telling you, I just feel there's something a little
different in this games scoring/gameplay/internal workings :P
I've recreated the score two times, and in eternal gotten there as well, but I can't imagine the 8 -- there's just no way. We know his score is true though, and as soon as I can get internet at the house, I will upload mine -- can't wait to see the rankings!
As for the Lovers Loom board, I didnt go about picking up all the small stuff first as we do usually max our katamaris... there's no random tall pointy things, just balls of yarn, so the growth is a tad different... On both of my runs, I made main 3 passes through the downstairs room. I found this great for mixing in smaller items, items premium for growth, and some nice big ones. If you can time it right, you can make three circles spreading out from the center -- from there i just kept crisscrossing up and down the stairs before heading into the "big room" -- I've tried ending there versus trying to incorporate it to my run, but found no difference... the key here is not getting bumped (almost literally) by
anything.
excuse the crude drawing :D
s0njas0n - December 7, 2007 05:32 AM (GMT)
that's the only thing i despise about the level, being put right in the middle of a swirling mass of yarn balls... since you aren't very big at first you just get thrown everywhere... i actually prefer starting at the top of the stairs (rarely happens) and going down the side that has all of the non-moving yarn balls in a pile before going downstairs... may not make you bigger, but it's less stressful.
waxc3 - December 7, 2007 12:20 PM (GMT)
okay that drawing makes me glad i dont have the dlc...
:lol
jk!
slo_bro - December 7, 2007 03:06 PM (GMT)
That's a good drawing ... I see exactly where you mean. I got 2m15cm9mm in eternal by grabbing all the small stuff before I got big, but I don't think we could play that way in normal mode.
My route is different ... it's in my video, but it is not very good since it only yields 2m15cm5mm in eternal.
I tried it a while yesterday trying different approaches, but I never made it to 2m15cm. So often I make the moving sheep go flying and can never pick him up :(

If anyone's ever too busy or lazy to start up their 360, another way to check if the new levels are available yet would probably be to check this page:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/ticker.htm
s0njas0n - December 10, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
awesome, i'll have to keep an eye out on that site now... *crosses fingers* this week would be perfect...
Ultimate Katamari Lover <3 - December 17, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
:mad :mad :mad I'm so angry... Look how many new levels and cousins the japanese have that we don't!!!!
Linky :mad :mad :mad

Oh hey, the last DLC was announced!

Special accessories, and the name ITCHOURA!
Custom-made clothes cool! :shrug
Psikorps - December 18, 2007 03:26 AM (GMT)
Must be a special level to boot, 50 points more then the previous DLC ones.
slo_bro - December 19, 2007 09:45 AM (GMT)
The new levels are here :woot
(200, 200, 300 Microsoft points)
Psikorps - December 19, 2007 09:52 AM (GMT)
Sweet, thanks for the update slo_bro!! :thumbsup
s0njas0n - December 19, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
dang, i can download them now, but i can't play until late tonight... oh well. thanks :D
EDIT: actually, i did get a chance to play each of the dlc levels before work and that dangerous level is all kinds of fun, probably one of my favorites in the game.
slo_bro - December 19, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
The three Just Right levels are very ordinary, but the other two new ones are absolutely criminally insane. Good times :woot
The Japanese players are slacking on these levels - the leaderboards don't have very many scores. I set new time attack marks in both of them, but I will be very surprised if Dr. Thinker and/or Seamonky don't have at least one of the two beaten by the end of today.
