Title: Rock Band
vix - November 17, 2007 08:59 PM (GMT)
With Rock Band only a few days away, I figured I'd make a thread for it.
I've played both the 360 and ps3 demo's of it and I can't wait to get my copy on tuesday.
s0njas0n - November 18, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
i still haven't played the demo, but i won't need to in a few days *hopefully*.... :crosses fingers:
Psikorps - November 18, 2007 02:00 AM (GMT)
Cana-Duh does not have the demo yet. :(
Though I will most likely be getting it as I really enjoyed GH2+3...even though I suck their still fun.
The 7th Legacy - November 18, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
I heard Canada's getting it on December 18th now. Sucks for them.
Anyway, i'm totally getting Rock Band. I'm personally planning to do Vocals.
vix - November 18, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
I'm gonna do it all.
7th, what console are you getting it for?
The 7th Legacy - November 18, 2007 05:13 AM (GMT)
I'll be getting the whole bundle on the 360, since i'm an achievement whore.
However, I could pick up the game and a USB Mic on the PS3, too.
vix - November 18, 2007 05:39 AM (GMT)
true. any mic is supposed to work.
s0njas0n - November 18, 2007 05:40 AM (GMT)
ah yes, a vocalist would be nice :) i may sing but yeah, only if no one can hear me, which is supposedly going to be the case.
vix - November 18, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
same here! since i am tone deaf, it would not be fun to subject you to that horror.
s0njas0n - November 18, 2007 05:52 AM (GMT)
but i can sing my heart out... not literally. :D you never know when i get to singing ballroom blitz... "then the man in the back said 'everyone attack' and it turned into a ballroom blitz" woo yeah!

s0njas0n - November 18, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
man, i can't wait. just saw in the paper today that target is selling it at 8am, but there was no paper for walmart. i checked online, but i guess i just need to call and see if they are going to be selling it at midnight.
vix - November 19, 2007 01:32 AM (GMT)
i am definitely getting up early to head out on tuesday cause i get the funny feeling that i'm gonna get screwed out of my preorder. so i might have to go hunting.
s0njas0n - November 19, 2007 02:16 AM (GMT)
i did call and they said they should be on sale at midnight.... and yes, he knew what i was talking about. leave it to the walmart employees, lol. so i'll probably head out on monday night to try and get a copy. though he did say all he saw before was just the game and not the bundles, and if that's true, it's just weird.
vix - November 19, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
good luck with that! you'll have to let me know how that works out. I was considering checked for local midnight sales but I'll just wait till the morning.
waxc3 - November 19, 2007 12:15 PM (GMT)
it does NOT come with a guitar does it?
vix - November 19, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
it comes with a guitar, drums, mic, and game.
i called the store i have it preordered at, they're not opening early or nothing to sell it for preorders so they open at 10 tomorrow so I guess i'll take my chances and hope i get it there. otherwise i might have to go trekking out tomorrow.

thanks. dude i totally keep reading that it comes with a mic and drums and the disc. maybe there are different packages?
best buys (some) are doing midnight sales. where did you preorder vix?
vix - November 19, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
trust me, i've been following the game for months.
at launch tomorrow, there are only 2 options.
1. The 170$ bundle which has game, guitar, drums, and mic.
2. Game Only.
If you get the 360 version and get the game only, the previous GH controllers are said to work on it.
If someone is selling it without the guitar, i think they might trying to be scamming.
There won't be different bundles until after the new year as well as individual instruments for sale.
none of the best buys that are close to me are doing midnight. part of me doesn't want to take the chance at gamestop(where i have it preordered) and just go to target at 8am and pick it up there instead.
s0njas0n - November 20, 2007 01:32 AM (GMT)
just played the demo, the drums rock :P can't wait to get my hands on the actual game. only thing is, the guitar was kinda weird, i can't really explain the weirdness except that the strum bar wouldn't strum up for me, and when my nephew played it, he said it wouldn't strum down. so, yeah, i don't know, i hope it's better when i actually play. but woo... 3 1/2 hrs!
vix - November 20, 2007 02:53 AM (GMT)
awesome. i've had problems with the guitar too at the demo stations.
waxc3 - November 20, 2007 04:31 PM (GMT)
i saw vix owns this now!
let us know what you think whenever pepper lets you open the box :smirk
i want to know how the note patterns are easier (like you mentioned in the other topic).
oh and i believed you about the contents, i just saw in two different ads and somewhere else (forgot where) that the box includes the game, drum kit and a mic... and i was like WHAT!!!???? there has to be a guitar!
good to know.
so vix did you get it at target or from your preorder?
s0njas0n - November 20, 2007 04:52 PM (GMT)
i picked mine up at midnight at wal-mart. i've played it a little, but 90% of the time i was playing i was calibrating it. but i can't wait to get to the drums now.

explain "calibrating it" por favor?
are you synching the visuals to your hand eye coordination?
s0njas0n - November 20, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
well, my tv lags, so i had to calibrate the audio/visual by a little circle and a beeping sound, it's kinda hard to explain, but the reasoning behind it is when i play the notes they don't match the music and i had to make them sync.
waxc3 - November 20, 2007 07:20 PM (GMT)
you explained it well. thanks.
thats good they do that.
i watched two dudes in gamestop try and play gh3 and they couldnt! they were all concerned since they can beat expert on gh2. the as sat that worked there was saying some nonsense.... but it wa because the lcd tv they had the demo on was SOOOO laggy it was by 1/2 a beat at least...
word.
vix - November 20, 2007 08:38 PM (GMT)
I got my preorder no problem. :woot
and yeah, i had to calibrate it too. the audio was out of sync with the notes. but now it's all good.
so far i played sonya online just about all afternoon and dude! online works! that's a huge, huge, HUGE plus in my book since the online in GH III rarely worked.
I even 100%'ed a song on medium while online with sonya.
That kinda proves that the notes are somewhat easier though it's i think it's open to interpretation. Side by side comparisions do show it's easier that GH but RB is more about feeling like playing the notes rather than button mashing notes.
I've only messed around with guitar and bass at the moment so I can't give my full impressions yet. I haven't even started a career yet. lol
s0njas0n - November 20, 2007 09:21 PM (GMT)
i played all of the peripherals, and man am i a good singer, lol. both of the songs i did i got 98% on. of course that was easy, i don't know what the differences in difficulty mean for singing, but i might try it out later, there are only a few songs i am comfortable singing at this time, i need to listen to the others to know all of the lyrics. i'm pretty good at the drums on easy and haven't really had much experience with medium and up but i know i can beat them, not the best. guitar and bass are pretty much the same as usual, but the guitar has a totally different feel to it.
edit: actually i sang a lot of songs while my nephew played the drums, even got 100% on one easy song.
vix - November 21, 2007 04:24 AM (GMT)
I am :love this game.
It's so much fun.
s0njas0n - November 21, 2007 04:27 AM (GMT)
hehe, yeah, and my bro-in-law is not very talented with any of the peripherals, including singing, but we didn't have to save him from that one yet.
discostu - November 21, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
you guys know if there will be a ps2 version and how the peripherals will work?
s0njas0n - November 21, 2007 05:00 PM (GMT)
there will be a ps2 version out in december, but as far as peripheral compatibility goes, who knows, because it's hit and miss at this point.
vix - November 21, 2007 05:37 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing everything for the ps2 version will be wired and you'll need a hub if you want to play more than two players at a time. Beyond there being a ps2 version, not much has been announced but the problem I see with the ps2 version is like the ps2 guitar hero's. What you get is what you get with not option to get more content. So you're gonna pay something like 150or 160, i forget, for the drums, mic, game, guitar and only about 50 something songs.
EDIT: I was just looking at the DLC. I'm getting two songs for the moment.
But I added it up. If you buy the 3 packs and the 6 single songs, it comes out to 28.41
Good lord, this game is gonna make me broke.
But for the moment, I'm only getting My Sharona and Jukebox Hero.
s0njas0n - November 21, 2007 08:09 PM (GMT)
wow, that's a lot of money and it's only the first week, meaning if you just bought the system and all the dlc this week, it would be $200, that's crazy. i'm definitely getting my sharona, too.
and the 360 version came with a usb hub, the ps2 one might too.
vix - November 21, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
the worst part about the hub is that it needs an outlet to be plugged into.
but yeah, for the moment, only those two songs. i'd have to listen to the other ones to see if i like them first.
Arctic Phoenix - November 21, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
RB looks cool but it costs too much for me, I can't really spend much on games anymore with college and all. But I'm glad to hear it's good.
vix - November 22, 2007 03:21 AM (GMT)
if you can find a way to get it, it's worth it. in terms of me being a casual gh player, rb is awesome in terms of it's difficulty.
s0njas0n - November 22, 2007 06:17 AM (GMT)
it is awesome except when i think about the money that i will be spending on it. the game is good by itself, though.
The 7th Legacy - November 22, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)
So, after playing Rock Band non-stop for two days, I can safely say that vocals are
amazing. I currently am going through the solo tour on Hard.
Also, i'm second overall on vocals for Ride The Lightning!
