Lately there's been an influx of spambots on the board either posting porn, drug ads, or various links.

There's really no need to reply to the threads. One of the mods or myself will see it and take care of it.

I haven't been here for the last half a week, but in general I like how few spambot posts I see here :) Vix and others must get rid of them quickly.

vix and the mods are like a super spambot fighters :D , the spambots come and.. BOOM! The spambots are gone just like that.

Please don't post in the spambot topics. Someone will take care of it as soon as they can.

it usually seems to be in the M&MK Help area. today we get pictures of lindsey lohan in her bikini! :lol oh man...

yeah, it used to be this forum that the spambots would post in. at least it wasn't pure porn like some of them have been. :frusty. maybe i need to make a spambot mod crew, lol

during the school seasons i am online here at about 6:30 am (seems to when they post too) everyday.

yeah, i'm seriously starting to wonder if i should give some members the ability to move topics so that when spambots pop up, and me or a mod aren't around, the topics can get moved to the trash forum.

Yeah, invisionfree boards tend to get hit the hardest when it comes to spambots. Atleast we aren't getting porn lately. But yeah, a spambot crew would be a good idea if it gets out of hand.

Oh, I don't remember. It's especially bad since this is a all ages forum, and the last thing we want is porn.

It's funny, I often look at the latest member, and think that they have an odd, suspicious name. Then I look at the trash, and find that they were the latest spambot.
Despite my computer being gone, I'm still on here quite often, and I've never seen a smam topic not in Trash.
Does anyone use the report system?

i don't think the report system works. i tried testing it out but it doesn't appear like it actually does anything.

there's a few options i can do. i can set up some members with mod permission to move topics and be a mini spam crew.

or

i can set up a forum that only new users would be able to post in. one post in the forum would let them have access to teh full forum but in the the end, the forum still needs to be maintained for spam, etc.

i think i'm gonna go with the first idea and then whenever me or a mod aren't around and a spambot hits, we can quickly remove it. plus, there isn't extra forums to deal with and then all the mods have to do is let me know what names are bots and i can ban them and the e-mail addy's.

I use the report system sometimes

the reports don't go anywhere as far as i can tell cause there's no notifications anywhere. that system will work in zeta.

i've added in a few spambot "mods" to help combat the spambots. slo_bro, s0njas0n, and katamari>kalamari will hopefully help prevent topics from being on the board for too long.
