Title: Katamari On the Wii
Description: Hopefully...

Dtwagz - October 20, 2007 11:27 PM (GMT)
I've been hearing some rumors about it... :woot

I want to know who would buy it!!! :smirk

And what you think the controlls would be like..................... :D

I guess... :frusty

Whatever they do, I hope they make it playable with the Wii Classic Controller, too. The Katamari series just works best with dual stick controls and I'm not sure how I feel about new-fangled control with the wiimote.

vix - October 21, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
It would be smart to make it playable with the classic controller IF there is a wii game but I don't see them making that an option since the whole point is the wiimote and nunchuck.

texaskatamari - October 21, 2007 05:39 PM (GMT)
I don't really want the controls to be classic controller, all I want is it to be for Wii... AT ANY AND ALL COSTS. :glare . If I have to wait til Feb, March, or even April (well maybe not April :heh )

Nevermind the eensy details of Metal Slug Anthology and Smash Bros. already supporting such.

Two games as an option isn't enough. If they didn't put in the classic option for SSBB, the fanboys would have rioted. I know a lot of people that only want a Wii for that game. While it would make total sense to offer classic for a Wii Katamari, I somewhat don't see that happening.

texaskatamari - October 23, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
I hope that if they make a 5th installment that they put it on Wii, better yet just make BK for it. One thing's for sure, I AM NOT A FAN OF THE 360. Those things cost a lot more than the Wii last time I checked, and there is no way I'm payin $499 just to get BK on the 360.

s0njas0n - October 23, 2007 01:52 AM (GMT)
i don't think that costing more is a reason not to like the system. the listed price says a lot about the system. nintendo has always been the major competitor in price, but they skimped on lots of features the other systems have. i'm not really a "fan" of the 360 either, but the reasons are more to do with hardware issues and things of that sort.

vix - October 23, 2007 02:05 AM (GMT)
Grant, price can be important to some but it shouldn't be the reason to dislike a system.

Sorry about bumping, but this or this might be intresting.

June 29, 2007 - Namco Bandai revealed earlier this year that it was developing the next-generation Katamari Damacy sequel, Beautiful Katamari, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Up until recently, the developer continued to work on both versions of the project. However, sources close to Namco Bandai tell IGN that the studio ran into some trouble with the port of the game to PlayStation 3 and these issues, coupled with the stalled sales of the system, have led to the project's quiet cancellation. Looking to better-than-expected sales of Wii, the company has, say insiders, re-shifted resources to ready a Wii build of Beautiful Katamari instead. Given that the title cannot be ported from Xbox 360, the game is being re-concepted for Wii.

QUOTE
Development of Katamari Damacy’s sequel, Beautiful Katamari, could be skipping the PS3 altogether and head to the Wii instead.

Crappy PS3 sales and porting woes have prodded Namco Bandai to cancel Beautiful Katamari for Sony’s new console. The game will be “re-concepted” for Nintendo’s hot-selling Wii:

This is not the first time Katamari has been rumored for Wii. In early 2007, reports of Katamari for Wii began to surface. However, development sources indicated at the time that Namco was not thrilled about the prospect about moving forward with the project, mostly because it was not convinced that Wii would be a success. The game’s original creator has in the past been critical of Nintendo’s platform, too.

Once Nintendo skipped past Sony on the Nikkei Index in market value, Namco Bandai must have felt a little more motivated to build Beautiful Katamari for Wii.

They may not be that new, but there's hope!

It's old news. Nothing new has been said in weeks so it's still rumor based. We shall see. I doubt we'll get any concret news this year though.

Read quote. I know it's not new. Don't blame me.

I actually bought a 360 in anticipation of BK, just as I did with the PS2 and PSP. Luckily I already own a Wii, so if they do (hopefully!!) bring it, I'm set. Having said that, yeah, I will agree that if it doesn't allow for classic/GC controller play it's likely to not be satisfying- for me at least.

s0njas0n - November 1, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
yes, well just remember that in april bk was "officially" announced for the 360 and ps3, then in july it was "officially" canned for the ps3. any news within those dates is pretty much irrelevant, imo. it very well may be in production for the wii and/or ps3, but you can't go by old news reports like that. you can still hope, but this doesn't bring any new light on the subject.

so if it was specifically nothing new...and it was obvious that some of that was months old...why bother posting it in the first place? it's not new news and it's not new hope. :poke

Sorry, vix. I just wasn't thinking right with all the other nonsense happening at home. :dead

erm, I bought a 360 just for BK and paid under $300 for everything, including the game.

Granted, I didnt get a harddrive, but I bought a system for $249 from Gamestop and then the game for $40.

Totally worth it. I did the same for a PSP and MMK.

A geek? Sure. But a happy geek :D :thumbsup

texaskatamari - November 4, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
Really? The least expensive i've seen was like $375 or something like that. Let's not get to crazy about my quote OK? Stop making fun of me! :glare

Cores are 299 brand new. That comes with a wireless controller and memory card. Get BK and you're set.

s0njas0n - November 5, 2007 02:47 PM (GMT)
the core system is being phased out, the new arcade system is supposed to be taking it's place, and it seems like a much better deal too because you get the wireless controller and hdmi port, plus 5 free arcade games.

i know this thread is a little old but since i am new here i am just now reading it lol so anyway i had the 360 anyway and i really kinda like my 360 no its not perfect i have had disc drive issues and it did have to go in for repairs but its running like gold right now lol wooo but im trying to get good at BK and failing miserably lol ... as for prices (I work for GameStop so... this is where most of my knowledge comes from) new systems with wireless controller, 20gig hd, and 2 games (Forza Motorsport & Marvel Ultimate Alliance) are running $349 now the arcade version is wireless controller, memory card, and 5 arcade games for $279 (brand spanking new!) the biggie of the family would be the Elite system which has a 120gig hd, wireless controller, and the same 2 games mentioned above for $449 .... in my store used ones never stay in stock so if you can find a used one they are not so expensive anymore... and totally worth buying for BK and Lego Star Wars lmao!

In Canada I'm sure the elites would sell better if Microsoft would get off their duffs and allow us even 10% of the content the US gets. As it is though none of us really need more then 20gigs HD space because outside of Gamer Profiles, Game Saves, themes and gamer pics...we dont have anything really to keep on there.

I have to quit going on about this because I have a whole (Canadians Getting The Shaft) thread on the offical Xbox site...though their 99.9% US based so most of them dont care.

I just wish we could put more HD space to use.

ChrisLov1271 - December 4, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
wow psi being that i am in the US i never knew Canadians were getting jacked up like that most of the things i do with internet and video games i just play and never consider the impact of the games on others why does gaming have to be regional anyway they should fix it to be world wide like the web is that would be awesome even if they are saying all kinds of crazy things to you in Chinese or something lol oh well it would sure be nice if they decided to incorporate Canada into the database or whatever it is they do

for now... all i can do is give ya a hug!
