I'm wondering about strategies for fast completion times on the firefly stage. This isn't tracked at this forum, but it is at cyberscore.

Specifically I'm looking at Matt and Lo7 for help. I wondering how to get around 1:05 or under. Right now I have 1:16 which I have a video of.

That's using a strat I came up with and I executed it pretty well in that run. The only major screw-up was trying to spin-dash after I got the tree flies when I was out of gas. I don't see getting much better than around 1:10 with that strat however, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Heh, I don't remember my route. Sorry.

It was a personal route, so Matthew maybe used another.

One tip (if you don't know already): hit one of the trees to have a bunch of fireflies, they'll increase your size a lot.

I never figured out how to complete Fireflies in much less than 2 minutes, including the attempts where I easily reached Dazzling. The low times boggle my mind.

This is the one of the levels in which I restart frequently if I'm not meeting specific goals at certain places along my route. I'd have to look at my video of my 1:00 run (which I have around here somewhere) to refresh my memory as to what exactly those goals are. I'm happy to tell you my pattern, if you're interested.

Okay, I was able to view your video. Thanks! Not a bad route. You were out of breath at that one point; obviously, if that hadn't happened you could have done it quicker.

My route takes me down the hill (like yours), but I continue forward and up the path on the side of the large central hill. If I CNR about halfway up, I can shoot off the path and get a bunch of fireflies from the guy floating around with the helium balloons. Ideally, I'll collect some of the flies on top of the winnebago on my way down, then proceed to get some in front of the circling Chinese dragon, before bumping the tree at the far end of that area. Here I turn around and go straight to the small "waterfall," where I spin up. And if I've hit all my targets, I'll get that 1m30cm "power-up" as soon as I start my CNR through the cavernous area underneath the large hill. I proceed toward Marny at the far end, zig-zagging a little to optimize a single pass through the water. Then I head up onto dry land, and left toward the path up the large hill (again), this time hitting the couple halfway up. Then it's up to the summit. After one clockwise spin around Dipp, I pause at the edge where more fireflies are swirling, before heading down. If all goes well, I'm only 15-20mm away from the goal, which I can easily get en route to the finish line.
