Picross DS is Nintendo's second picross video game. Picross is a number-grid game just a tiny bit like Sudoku.

I've been creating a few crappy custom puzzles and putting them online. Here's the one I made tonight :) I relied heavily on Vix's cousin-drawing template.

awesome! i may pick up a ds this week, i'm not sure. i was thinking about getting picross.

Turns out the avatar puzzle (for some reason) is a very very hard picross puzzle to solve. I asked on the GameFAQs Picross DS board whether anybody wanted to try it or if I should make it easier, and someone said to go ahead and upload it, so I did. I could never solve it in a million years. (The other two puzzles I have in this thread are pretty easy.)

I've got one more. I tried to copy this one straight from the demo.

Think I should recommend this to my brother? :P

Gosh, I have no idea :shrug I don't think this game is for everyone. I like it.

If your brother would like to spend 20 minutes staring at a grid with numbers and slowly making advancements, then watch the picture come to life once the puzzle is complete, then he'll like this. I like this game a lot, especially now that I can try lots of other people's online puzzles (I just solved someone's showing the mountain with the Wind Fish's egg from Zelda Link's Awakening :woot ). A lot of people at GameFAQs like this game a lot too.

It's got about 350 one-player puzzles and lots of small puzzles to compete to solve the fastest online.

I just got a copy last week, man it really sucked me in :heh ! It still isn't as good as Katamari! :)
It is a puzzle game when you use numbers on the Z, Y axis. You have 1 hour to complete a puzzle, but if you make a mistake it adds 2-8 minates. It is really challengeing, I agree with Slo_bro it isn't for everyone.

It's got a lot to it. It's got a large number of puzzles, including 150+ big ones on grids of 20x20 or 25x20, plus it's got vs. play online where matches last no more than 3 minutes, and the penalty for making a mistake is very light (so it's more about speed than being careful). Some people online are SO fast :eek ... I win about 30% of the time.

I know some people are SOO talented! :lol

My DS broke yesterday :heh . I'll register you and tell you my friend code as soon as I fix and/or get a new DS. :)

Picross is like Katamari it doesn't sound fun, but when you play it you find out how much fun it is! :lol

I hope to fix or get an new DS by Friday or Saterday. :D

oh, it's a puzzle number type game where you have to solve puzzle to reveal pictures or something like that. i'm not too sure on the exacts.

You start with a blank grid with numbers around the outer edges. The numbers say how many squares in the row or column have to be filled in in order to complete the picture, but they don't say exactly where.

So in this puzzle,

there are fives in the middle at the top and on the left side. Then you know that whole row and column are filled in. A "3" would mean three spaces in a row are filled in. A "2 1" would mean that, in order either from top to bottom or from left to right, two spaces are filled in, then one is filled in. So along the bottom the "3 1" means 3 are filled in, then one is empty, then one is filled in. If you do decide to play a few puzzles, you'll get the hang of it quickly.

cool, i actually solved that one pretty easily. i should try a harder one, i like puzzle games like this

edit: 12x12 went ok, but then i tried a 15x15... took much longer, i'll have to work at this :P
