Lately, there's been an influx of spambots on the board(fake users that are programmed to post about a variety of topics and likely post them in this forum since it's the first on the list).
Because of this, I've decided to turn on e-mail validation for new users. (This will not be needed on zeta because of the extra security measures built in.)
Once you register, you should receive an e-mail from the board(coming from the address: vixdiesel@aol.com so check your spam folder) to verify your account. If you don't receive your e-mail, contact me at either:

Those are the two quickest ways to contact me. If you can't reach me that way, post in the guest forum. Since the guest forum is temporarily closed, feel free to contact me if you need item or game help as well.
This only applies to NEW members starting today(11/28/06). Current members don't need to do anything.

If you've registered and still haven't validated your e-mail, you won't get full access to the board and all the features. If you are having trouble validating your e-mail(because of spam filters or you put in a fake e-mail, etc), then post here and I'll help you. Validating members can only post in the guest forum.
So, there's been an influx of spambots even though I have it set to validate e-mail addy's. To further prevent this until zetaboards is released, I've gone as far as to ban a few e-mail domains. If you try to register with one of these domains, you'll just get an error message. If you're not a spambot and you have one of these e-mail addresses and you want to register and have no other e-mail to use, send me an email at VixDiesel@aol.com or an IM on AIM at VixDieselJr or post in the guest forum.

I've had to ban the entire domain for the .ru as it seems that 90% of the spam and porn trolls are coming from there.
After Users verfiy their e-mail address, one more step needs to be done. You need to verify that you are human and not a spambot, pornbot, etc.
Once you validate your e-mail, you will be taken to a forum asking you to post once. One post there will validate that you breathe and have a heartbeat and you'll then be taken to the full forum.
I realize it's a pain but until the board is upgraded with better security features, it's all I can do to ensure that graphic porn doesn't reach the users.
Validated users now get full access to the board without having to prove they are human. I'm going to risk the bots for a while.
If destiny holds with us, we'll hopefully be upgraded to the new Zetaboards software within a week or two. But don't hold me to it, you never know what's going to happen on the ZB side of things. Though with that being said, if the above remains true, the guest forum will be reopened and users will no longer need to post to prove they are human after registering. It might even be an option to remove e-mail validation but that hasn't been decided upon yet.
