Title: A strategy to get 1m 84cm 5mm on Sirius diameter

Lo7 - August 6, 2006 11:28 PM (GMT)
Do you use any strategy to get this diameter?
My best is 1m 83cm 0mm, but I have no particular strategies, so I roll up all the fireflies I find.

I see that slo, yoda and vix achieved this record so you may help me.

Thanks. :D

Well, I get Marny almost right away, and I get Dipp once I'm at least a meter tall (and roll up lots of fireflies on the hill). I roll up most of the thick bunches of fireflies, and I try to get lucky and grab the fireflies behind the balloon man. Other than that, I dash, dash, dash, over and over, all kinds of places, back and forth in the water cave, over on the far side of the river, most everywhere. I play on a save file where I haven't gotten the stage's present so I can get a few mm that way. I don't have a route.

Just so you know, when Vix first put this category on the scoreboard here, khfan1 mentioned that he had gotten 1m84cm6mm. He never put it on any scoreboard I know of, but this definitely means that a record that beats us 1m84cm5mm people is possible.

One more weird note -- This stage DOES report your completion time when you're done. I think it's the only stage that reports your completion time that hasn't been recorded for Speed Demos Archive. So one objective that you could record for SDA would be to get to 1m50cm (big enough to roll up the fan) as fast as you can and roll up the fan. The fastest I've ever done it is a tiny bit less than 2 minutes.

I can't seem to get that diameter. I'm sure part of the reason is that I enjoy (genuine) ALAP levels a whole lot LESS than AFAP levels. But when I saw your post, Slo, about how this records your completion time (just like underwater, school, etc.), I got excited. So I tried it tonight and was able to reach the goal in 1:20. But Lo7 is excellent at finding routes, so I wouldn't be surprised if he beats this time.

Why isn't this a level on SDA? Certainly one could make an argument for why it should be included. If they're just waiting for a tape, I've got this run. But we'll see what happens with others' attempts.

There's no reason why it can't be on SDA. I was not interested in recording a video myself, but wow, if you're completing it in 1:20, by all means you can send them a video.

I'm happy to do it; but I'm gonna wait to see what Lo7 does . . . lately he's been, well . . . Let's just say I anticipate him turning in a time of 1:19! :lol

BTW: Why isn't this a category on cyberscore?

I was just wondering the same thing.
I have not tried yet (I am getting some reocrds on AFAP stages right now), I'll do it soon.

Probably nobody thought of it when WLK was first added.

But there are three of us, and you only need five supporters to get something added, so you could sure post about it in the game requests forum and it probably would be added.

slo, if you open a topic on cybersocre's forum about this, that would be great. I would do it, but your english is largely better than mine, so if we start this topic and find two other supporters exept me, you and matthew, we can post our scores on that level.
Let me know. :)

Sure :)

If anybody wants to help get Fireflies completion time added to Cyberscore, post in this thread:

I posted for my support.
