Title: Help with Cancer
Description: Constellation

ElTipejoLoco - July 22, 2006 05:35 AM (GMT)
I seem to have my difficulty on backwards. That, or maybe I just generally do not bode well with slope crabs.

Anyway, I've done 100% on all the constellations EXCEPT Cancer. I don't know why, the most I've gotten on Cancer is 125. I'm pretty darn sure the crabs I'm missing are all on the slope, but I'm not so sure.

To summarize, I'll post the crabs that I CAN find or know the number of with some certainty, in the order I tend to go search for them.

Doghouse + Starting point = 24 yellow crabs ( 8 + 16 )

Yard = 4 yellow crabs (28)

Tomato patch = 3 yellow crabs (31)

Crab assembly near the clapping monkey = 5 yellow crabs (36)

Front porch = 2 gun-toting red crabs + 1 weight swinging red crab + 2 wrestling yellow crabs + 2 red crabs on top of each other moving the door + 1 red crab on frying pan + 1 blue crab on frying pan + 4 yellow crabs on front steps = 13 crabs (49)

House = 1 red crab on iron + 1 red crab following it + 1 red crab in bucket + 1 red crab on thermos + 3 yellow crabs near 'shrine' + 2 'wrestling' yellow crabs near open closet + 3 yellow crabs inside closet + 1 green crab carrying TV + 1 red crab following it + 1 yellow crab and 1 red crab on large bowl + 1 yellow crab on smaller bowl + 1 yellow crab hidden in center plate + 1 yellow crab on table + 1 green crab, 1 red crab and 1 yellow crab marching in a row + 1 green crab, 1 red crab and 1 yellow crab marching tower + 1 'shrine' horseshoe crab + 1 'seat' horseshoe crab= 27 crabs (76)

Golf pin = 6 crabs, assuming 4 yellow and 2 red (82)

Yard (revisited) 7 red crabs + 1 green crab + 1 red crab stuck to opening of dog house = 9 crabs (91)

Laundry area = 4 green crabs ( on sign, on floorboards, behind daruma, above dog-house ) + 1 blue crab on top of 4 red crabs clinging to a shirt + 1 red crab in pan + 2 red crab(s) on floorboards + 1 yellow crab(s) on floor boards = 13 crabs (104)

... Whoops, I guess I took too much time on that run through, what with counting everything. Spoot.

Anyway, of the other ones I know off the top of my head =

Spider crab (105), blue crab near the clapping monkey (106), upside down green crab near 2 yellow crabs (109), green crab in corner of tomato patch (110), 4 horseshoe crabs in tree (114), 5? red crabs near tree (119), and the bunch of crabs on the slope, which I don't think should be that many. Maybe 2 red crabs and 5 yellow crabs... which would mean I'm missing some in my count (126) before I actually reach 133.. I'm guessing the red crab on the dog (127) and the red crab on the stack of flower pots/tall flower pot (128) are also there... I'm stumped on what I'm missing.

Please help me find out where I'm lost. Thanks! :kuro

I managed to get 128 this time, but I still believe I'm wrong in a lot of numbers that were in my previous post. For one, I think the tree has 5 horseshoe crabs. I still have problems with the slope- I wish there was some sort of tip for that (closest I've managed is just using R1 and then crossing your fingers for good aim and not swerving off course, and the other method being climbing up slowly, because for some reason you seem to defy gravity easily on that slope, at least for a longer time than on other inclinations).

Well, being 5 crabs away from my goal isn't so bad. But just how many are in the slope? I'm thinking that I missed maybe 3 yellow crabs, and I didn't pick up any red crabs from it, so I'm guessing that was the only place I'm missing them? Still, haven't figured out a route that saves me enough time so that I can go and get them through trial and error... I'm starting to think maybe I should start WITH the slope, right after I get the yellow crabs in the dog-house and the starting point. Not sure though. Help?

In my opinion Cancer is the hardest constellation to get 100%. Yeah, the crabs on the slope are one of the big reasons.

I think there are 6 on the slope. When I get them I just roll, and try to force my way up (I don't dash or anything). I do that sometime in the last minute. Sometimes you can get very lucky and pick them all up quickly.

Another place where I miss crabs: Outdoors, both on the raised surface and on the grass, there are a lot of randomly-moving crabs, and when I collect 133 it usually requires me to find one or two of them that I missed in the final seconds.

Finally did it, though in the end it still took a lot of luck. I figured out that the only way to actually manage it on time was to scoop up any crabs on the slope as soon as I saw them, and to make the process faster, I tried to get all the hard to get yellow crabs as soon as possible. Also, figuring out ( late ) that the rice roll attracts all the crabs in the dog-house and letting all 9 walking crabs near the starting point latch onto the Katamari before hand allowed itself to be useful. Got the 133rd crab with 13 seconds left. Hope the info. in this topic helps anyone else struggling with Cancer. Also : The tree actually have SIX horseshoe crabs, and it'll take multiple whacks at the tree's trunk to get them all to fall, one of which will land near the shirt-wearing dog walking on the spinning platform with the windchimes on its bottom, and the slope seems to have two red crabs and four yellow ones walking around on it, that sometimes get close to the ground level, be it of the area with the two trees or the area next to the tomatoes.

Anyway, just gonna go see if my 100% Cancer can be submitted now 'en and move onto WLK s'more. Thanks slo_bro, you were right about the 6 crabs. Just frustrating that in the last few attempts before getting 133 I got stuck in places where I lost a bunch of crabs and also managed to get near 126-132, looking for the missing crabs (at one time I entirely forgot about the golf pin crabs, which I guess were the only ones missing from the 126 count! Gah!)... anyway. Thanks 'gain. :kuro
