Title: 3m42cm0mm--possible cap in US game?
Description: Can anyone else get above this amount?
The Prince's Bride - March 28, 2006 02:55 PM (GMT)
I was playing octopus level a bit and I hit 3m42cm0mm. Anyway, I kept on and on picking up more stuff (even 4 of those big flower beds), yet, even though I picked up sooo much, I'm still staying at 3m42cm0mm. Did anyone else with the US version manage to get anything above this score? If not, I'm wondering if that's basically the cap for this level. :wonder Any elaboration/help for getting above 3m42cm in the US version would be appreciated!
Edit: I'm talking about the Normal Stage, by the way. The only stage I played eternal on was Royal Monument; I don't really care for eternals too much, I like the challenge of completing it in time.

i think i got 3m 42cm 1mm or 2mm but it was in eternal...
i was trying to collect all the items in that town...
if you go back to the beginning of the town where you start, i think you can add maybe a millimeter or two...

Just so you know, the same cap existed in the Japanese version.
In Eternal the biggest I ever got was 3m42cm3mm and that was after picking up basically everything.
This will sound really weird to anyone who hasn't played the game, but one of my biggest goals now that I have the American version is to use the extra minute I get in the Octopus stage to skyrocket all the way from 3m42cm0mm to 3m42cm2mm. I am quite sure it would be possible.
Another cap issue - has anyone noticed yet that if you head inside a building just before you reach 75cm or 4m, the things you pick up add almost nothing to your size?

extra minute?....
i noticed that things add almost nothing in buildings...
i wanted to see what would happen if i sized up in a building...
so i got to 3m 94 cm and went in the building and picked up everything and gained one or two mm....
one time i think i got an extra minute in a level...
the king was like,"you did such a good job" and gave me another minute...but it hasn't happened since then...

I bet that sometimes you're getting an extra minute and just don't notice. If you listen to the King's whole speech as you enter the last area of multi-area stages, he will finish one speech, then tell you how many seconds you had left so far (if you've been fast in a many-area stage it might be hundreds of seconds), and then he will give you a gold prize of 60 seconds, a silver prize of 50 seconds, or a bronze prize of 30 seconds. (I only found out the exact prize amounts on the American version).
It's looking like you always recieve some extra time unless you finished the previous area with under 30 seconds left.
edit: If you're in a building when you're say 40cm tall or 2m tall, then things will add plenty of size. It's when you start reaching 60-65cm or 3.5m or so that things basically stop adding to your size in buildings.
But when you're not in the last area of your current stage, going in buildings when you're near the load screen (so things will add very little) is a great strategy; it lets you pick up lots of extra stuff while adding very very little to your size.

I'm wondering Prince's Bride, not that it makes any difference, but ...
Did you ever manage that last millimeter to get to 3m42cm1mm? It's easiest for me in the Octopus level when the King transports you to the town with the drunks. There you can size up big time at 40cm by getting the bottles and stacks of round things in the restaurant and then the stacks just outside, then at 1m60cm with the rows of small people along the food stands. It seems like you need to reach 3m42cm0mm with almost a minute left in order to have time for the last mm.
Just curious :poke

Nope, I'm still working on it, slo. I'm definately racking up in the softness points though, last time, I got around 400,000 I think. I can never seem to get within the 3m42cm mark with a minute to spare like you can. I just found that building that you can enter that yoda was talking about, now I'll have to figure that into my route and see if that helps me reach above 3m42cm. Thanks for the suggestions, guys! :thumbsup

I got to 3m42cm0mm with like a minute and a half left and was picking up tons and tons of stuff but it wasn't adding anything to the score...:frusty

If you manage that with a minute and a half left, and you have been on an organized enough route that most all the stuff left is at one side of the level or the other, then in reality I think you are in decent shape to challenge 3m42cm two mm.
edit: Just a quick note, I've never managed 3m42cm1mm in the snow level.
edit 2: I really don't remember for sure. I'm gonna give the Octopus a go at least a couple times, see which stages I can get 3m42cm1mm on ... or whether now I can't on any of them, lol it's very possible.
...
Well, I'm surprised, I guess now I can get 3m42cm1mm in all three towns, though I still have the most trouble in the snowy one. And this surprised me more:

There was definitely some of that helpful slowdown involved in that. :(
BTW, I was wrong, 3m42cm0mm with a minute and a half left won't give you a shot at two more mm, but with that time you've definitely got a shot at one.

I'll have to give it another go round...

I managed a 3m42cm3mm in eternal...i had hit 3m42cm1mm and had tons of stuff left....it took forever to get that extra 1mm and the same goes for the next one....i got every item i could including the people standing on top of the cars.
