Title: Since the game is out in the US now...
vix - March 23, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
Should there be any adjustments to the scoreboard? Levels, types of scores, etc?
yoda - March 23, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
maybe times of levels completed...
vix - March 23, 2006 11:33 PM (GMT)
is it something that's a goal within the level?
yoda - March 24, 2006 12:52 AM (GMT)
no... i just realized that's a bad idea...
because i don't think you can view your fastest time unless you save it as an island...
another addition might be the highest number of points for each score board in the ranker...
vix - March 24, 2006 04:30 AM (GMT)
what do you mean? highest number pf points for each scoreboard in the ranker?
yoda - March 24, 2006 04:55 AM (GMT)
nvm...
the scoreboard is on the prince's island next to the slingshot...
it tells you the hottest, coldest, largest, loudest, softest etc. katamari's you have rolled.
it then gives you are rank, S(the highest), a,b etc.
it isn't necesarily the corresponding animal friend that will give you the highest score, though...
each animal has a specific type of item that yields maximum points...
the cockroach wants loud things, the elephant wants large things, the king statue wants grand things etc...
so anyway if you have no idea what i'm trying to explain, then i will take pictures of the scoreboard tomorrow....
The Prince's Bride - March 24, 2006 05:00 AM (GMT)
But then the scoreboard would be absolutely massive if vix added all those categories under the rankings. There are waaay too many, imho, for that to be dealt with properly and convienantly. Not to downplay your idea or anything...I dunno, I would personally like a speed section for each level, but as yoda said, the speeds are not recorded unless you make an island for it. Not like I can really contribute much in scores (size *or* speed) as of the moment anyway, I suck at M&MK. :heh
slo_bro - March 24, 2006 09:58 PM (GMT)
:( :( :( So speed isn't recorded on the American version either??? Oh well :(
(My American copy has not arrived yet.)
yoda - March 25, 2006 01:06 AM (GMT)
maybe changing or adding a scoreboard for the camel stage in dollars?
this would confuse me a lot less...
when i first was comparing my scores to the scoreboard, i thought i reaaaaaally sucked...
that camel stage is pretty fun though...
slo_bro - March 25, 2006 03:03 AM (GMT)
At first when I was playing Camel and only reaching about 1.5 meters, I thought I was doing really well :P because the number of yen looked so high.
I don't have a good answer to what should be done about the dollars and yen.
Just wondering, does anybody think there is anything from that funny scoreboard on the island that should be added? Maybe just one or two things from the first page of the scoreboard? I don't have a strong opinion on this.
vix - March 25, 2006 03:15 AM (GMT)
I'll add in a section for dollars for those that has the US version and a section for yen for those that still have the Japanese version.
yoda - March 25, 2006 05:31 AM (GMT)
maybe we can put the names of the animals from the english version so it's easier for people to understand and also maybe we can make a separate scoreboard entirely for the rankers i mentioned earlier...
vix - March 25, 2006 05:42 AM (GMT)
No new scoreboards yet. First gotta establish the main part of the game.
What are the levels called in the US version? Just saying that there's a difference doesn't help me, an example would be nice or a full list...:poke :)
yoda - March 25, 2006 05:55 AM (GMT)
o sorry, but the levels are like:
cheetah, gold beetle,chicada
i'll make a full list in alittle...
yoda - March 25, 2006 06:37 AM (GMT)
these are all the names of the levels in english version...

vix - March 25, 2006 06:39 AM (GMT)
most of em are the same, i think. are they in the same order that they appear in-game?
yoda - March 25, 2006 06:47 AM (GMT)
vix - March 25, 2006 06:50 AM (GMT)
cool, i'll update the scoreboard and submit thread either later or tomorrow.
vix - March 26, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
are those the actual names of the levels? like, is it called gold bug? etc...
yoda - March 26, 2006 07:41 AM (GMT)
well, when you walk up to the animal, their name is above their heads so yea i guess you could call it that...
vix - March 27, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
well, i decided i couldn't take it anymore and went and got a psp and mmk...:prince
yoda - March 27, 2006 04:39 AM (GMT)
vix - March 27, 2006 04:43 AM (GMT)
i can't get used to the controls yet, but it's freakin awesome!
yoda - March 27, 2006 04:53 AM (GMT)
yea those controls were pretty hard to learn- so different from analog sticks!
but once you get the hang of it, it's even more fun!!!
have you checked out the ranker board yet?
vix - March 27, 2006 05:00 AM (GMT)
no, i haven't really explored much of it yet, maybe a level or two, just trying to get used to the controls first. :)
Karppa - March 28, 2006 07:02 AM (GMT)
Dammit, I think I'll get a PSP today, since the prices have dropped to 199€.
Now I just have to figure how to import M&MK w/o a credit card :heh
...
Whee, I got it, now all I need is M&MK :D
vix - March 28, 2006 06:51 PM (GMT)
no debit card? get it off of ebay using a money order?
slo_bro - March 29, 2006 01:07 AM (GMT)

Looks like there is one time-related thing Vix could add if people want it.
The first column of page two gives the largest number of seconds you had left when you completed a stage, adding up the time you had left in all the areas. This gets into the hundreds if you are fast in the royal monument stage for example.
Might be an interesting thing to add, either to a new rankings scoreboard or to the old scoreboard.
yoda - March 29, 2006 01:11 AM (GMT)
best i got was 873 seconds...
i don't think it's as fair to add scores of levels for eternal royal monument...
i mean sure you sat there for twenty hours playing katamari and you should be rewarded, but some of us don't have the time or attention span to play a full fledged eternal royal monument...
:shrug
slo_bro - March 29, 2006 01:20 AM (GMT)
If you have the PSP's settings right you can hit the power switch and then come back to your game in progress later, which could help if you're playing a 3 hour Eternal royal monument game. But ...
I think the most interesting column in the rankings board is the time remaining one, since all the rest of them can be aced just by playing a long walk through royal monument on Eternal. It's too bad that the rankings board includes attempts at Eternal stages; if it didn't it wouldn't be so easy to get a million on everything.
