Title: FMA Dog Cosplay?
Description: Anyone cosplayed as any of the dogs?

Anne Packrat - August 24, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
Have any of you seen or cosplayed as any of the actual dogs from FMA? And no I don't mean "Dogs of the Military." I mean the actual dogs: Black Hayate, Den and Alexander. So far all I've done is Black Hayate, but I'll be doing Den for Ohayocon in January. I may have to do Alexander to round out doing all of them.

I've seen maybe one person Cosplay as Den for a con before but that was only like once.... Hmmm that screen name of yours sounds familiar.

I've been around a lot. I also write fanfic. Do you have any pics of the Den you saw? I'm looking for inspiration for my own.

Oh, if that's what you mean, well I'm married to Ryan Mathews the guy that used to write The Dub Track on there, and I used to work for the Anipike.

Just curious, this Den you saw, was it a full mascot Den? Or was it a "human" version? I'm doing a mascot version.

Dark General - August 25, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
Yeah i saw "human" look on the man dressed up in a dog like costum as Den. But a full mascot version sounds cool, never seen one like that before.

And that's where i think i heard your name from heh, i think i saw it one or two forums also but i remember it most from the anime news network. Well congrats on being married.

Thank you, it's quite an adjustment. My Den will look a lot like my Hayate:

But I plan on making it more doglike with a narrower head, and padding to give the illusions of a dogs hind legs (reverse knees).

That's awesome. Out of curiosity, what did you use to construct the costume? Not the fabric... but the frame itself.

It's a type of chicken wire called Hardware Cloth, you can buy it in the Gardening department of Home Depot. I make it into a cylinder and mold it from there. Then I put a bike helmet into it. I've made several costumes this way, and it takes about ten to twenty hours to do each head. I'm making Menchi now.

Well I'll be wearing it to Youmacon and likely to Ohaycon as well. You can catch me then, but just ask first as I have trouble seeing sometimes and glomps can overbalance me and knock me over.
