Quig Alchemist - August 18, 2006 07:02 PM (GMT)
What name were your parents going to give you, but changed their minds? Mine was Jordin....O.o So strange.....

Kamizuki - August 18, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)

gaara girl - August 18, 2006 08:18 PM (GMT)

Fishes Go Blub - August 18, 2006 10:12 PM (GMT)
well, I was never going to have a different name. It was either going to be Alexander if I was a boy, but since I'm a girl, it is Alexandria. Too bad my parents weren't very creative, huh?

Inari - August 18, 2006 10:25 PM (GMT)
I was just simply named after my father.... :/

Chrono - August 18, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
I was name after Kelsey Grammar, (don't know who the heck he is)

Kelsey is a boy and a girl name, So either way I would of got stuck with the same darn name!!!

wrath_guy - August 18, 2006 10:58 PM (GMT)
i never tell my name!!!heheh!

Krazydog - August 18, 2006 10:59 PM (GMT)
My parents didn't even name me >>;; Thats how creative THEY are.

Fishes Go Blub - August 18, 2006 11:38 PM (GMT)
Then how the heck were you named?

Hmm..... I can't think of any way to be named if not by your parents or legal guardian.

Dread - August 19, 2006 12:04 AM (GMT)
I was almost named Brooke or Christina. And I thank God everyday for that. I really, really would've been ticked off at my parents for naming me that.

No offense to anyone who have these names.

Avarice - August 19, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
i was almost named... Evan.cause they didn't bother with seeing if i was a boy or a girl before i came out... lucky for me i came out a girl...obviously.... but after they discovered my gender they almost named me, Jessica.... such a common and .abused name. coughjessicasimpsoncough. i'm much happier with the one they decided to give me. splee! they did something right for once.

Alchemic Wolf - August 19, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
My parents were going to name me Grace. Don't know why, but...

Then they settled on Taylor.

If i'm correct Kelsey Grammer is the guy from Cheers/Frasier the one that plays Frasier Crane.... Either him or the guy that played in Enceno Man, the guy that was the caveman if you didn't see that he also played in George of the Jungle. But i'm pretty sure it's the guy from Cheers.

Chrono - August 20, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
so I was name after my parents favorite actor in thier favorite show, d*** *puts head down in greif* I wish they gave me a japaness name like my grandma chose for me.

Dark General - August 20, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
Yeah but didn't Cheers start airing during the early 90's...

If your not japanese yet you have a japanese name =/ That would be awkward, not to mention you'd probably be picked on alot.

So if your not japanese and you have a japanese name... that would be stupid. Believe me.

Chrono - August 20, 2006 05:32 AM (GMT)
I am japanesse, well half japanesse, ( I got a mix variaty on my dads side: Russian, Germang, hungarian, Russian, Yu-go slavian etc etc.)

my grandparents were in the japapnesse internament japans in the US during WW2. My grandpa went got a position as translator between the Americans and Japanesse during the

besides Kelsey is shipbuilder in japanesses!!

(Better than my sister whoes name means plate, )

Krazydog - August 20, 2006 05:39 AM (GMT)
Wait? What? So are you half by BLOOD? If you are then it would be ok, but if your less than half, or not japanese by blood than your better off without a japanese name. Believe me, nowadays random people are naming their kids with japanese names because they're anime addicts or they wish they were japanese or something.

Then people would have the impression that your some guy with no life that wants to "pretend to be asian".

Besides, what japanese name are you talking about?
I'm hoping its not something common... like Kyo... and the list goes on...

Chrono - August 20, 2006 05:53 AM (GMT)
anything would be nice.

except what one of my japanese relative got name: Naruto (seriously he did get name Naruto)

Krazydog - August 20, 2006 06:02 AM (GMT)
If I recall correctly Naruto = Whirlpool or something like that.
>>;; I dunno... thats a name I wouldn't name my kid.
Reminds me of a toilet lol. Whirlpool goes round and round~

Chrono - August 20, 2006 06:07 AM (GMT)
Uzumaki means spiral, Naruto means *tries not to laugh* fishcake. My relative is name means Fishcake *laugh*

besides I got some famous peopel in my family:

Great aunt: captian of the U.s champion olympic fencing team
mothers cousin: race care dirver and got his own magazine
Aunt's brother in law- origonal creator of Scooby Doo

Aly - August 20, 2006 05:21 PM (GMT)
I was almost named about 10 things...
Jenny
Kelly (if she did, I would have the same name as my friend Kelly. XD)
Karen
Alice (Mom said "easier to call Alice in Wonderland")
Kathy (Yes my mom almost named me after my gramma ^^)
Katie (mom said "Nah." and gramma said "cute name, but doesn't fit her...")
Tasha (Mom said "hell no.")
Anna (Mom said "d***. Hard.")
Veronica (Mom said "OMFG! No way! ....xD archie and veronica....")
Natasha (Mom said "oh god make these names stop..!!!!)
and dad walks in and says "Alyson"
So that's what i was named, Proudly... and quite messedup.... people can call me names... "Alice-in wonderland" was a new one this year. I just laughed and said "my name ain't alice"

 the day i was born was a hard day for Mom...
it says in my babybook...
Mom: I had such a hard time picking the names. *writes the list*
Dad: I had a truck route and i figured out the name from a Friend.
(xD sorry for the long post)

Faith - August 20, 2006 10:52 PM (GMT)
Haha. My parents were almost gonna name me Mia or Candence....I dont mind Mia, But if I was named Candence, then alot of people would have called me "Candy" And I really wqould have hated that...I quess Im happy with my name, though its to common...

Krazydog - August 21, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
My cousin is named Candice, so we call her Candy poo XD Why? Dont ask. One of them random moments.

I hate my name though. ;[ No one can pronounce it.

Yeah i thought Naruto means Fish Pattie or something along those lines. But Chrono said it's Spiral Fishcake heh.

And i do know how to pronuonce your name... It's really pretty simple, if you someone dosn't know how combined letters makes sounds then yeah it probley is hard to say.

Chrono - August 21, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
*point at himself* my name??

Dark General - August 21, 2006 04:41 AM (GMT)
No i wasn't talking about your name Chrono i was talking about Krazy's real name. It isn't that hard to pronounce at least to me anyway.

Michiko - August 22, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
I would, if I had been male, been named Alexander Paul. My father, other than that, was determined to name me either after a ship or war veterans... >> the one cat he named was Agamemnon.

In th end, I'm really glad that he didn't name me, though the name I was saddled with wasn't that much better. The name I go by now I picked in third grade, so I'm not too sure it fits me that well, but hey, it's better than the other name. Perhaps it's not that bad, but it has a lot of bad memories attatched to it. I generally flinch inwardly whenever I hear it, regardless if it's referring to me or not.

Let's see... I was also named after two queens, to satisfy my dad, but I almost was set with the first name Margaret. That got changed to something a little more... old sounding. >> I feel like my name belongs in the Victorian Era, I swear...

As far as last names go, I envy people with an actual family name. Mine was made up by my great-grandfather on my dad's side when he fled several states to escape justice. So my surname was made up by a criminal, and my only living (we think) grandparent, my dad's dad, is a swindler and all around ne'er do well. Go figure.

As for famous people, I have quite a few in my family too, including Matt Groening (author of Life in Hell series, creator of Simpsons and Futurama), very distantly. (that's the only name I'll give out, though not the only one I could.) I think we all are related to someone famous; I know someone related to Elvis Presley, for instance, and another whose cousin, once removed, is John Lennon.

xPanic - August 22, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
If I were female I would have been named Natalie Bou or Natalie Maria, just because my mom liked the name maria...and if you shorten Natalie Bou to Nattie Bou you get the nickname for national bohemian beer.

And other names of mine;
Nathan
Vladdamir
Jas
many things.....

Krazydog - August 22, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
If they're distant relatives, than that means your relations are as good as none.

And we weren't talking about famous people or relations either, This is about names.

Michiko - August 23, 2006 12:13 AM (GMT)
(Actually, only one's distant, that's why I wouldn't name others - my uncle's a multi-millionaire painter, who lives in a mansion and is the utter picture of eccentricity. And I was replying to Chrono's earlier comment, but sorry for straying off-topic. Speaking of, my dad's an authority when it comes to ship models, and has about twenty pieces scattered about museums. They're that good.)

Anyways. Vladimir sounds cool, at least to me. Very Russian. Still, for the sake of growing up, it's not too great to have a name that stands out or is unusual, for kids are cruel and will often fasten on such things.

Krazydog - August 23, 2006 12:46 AM (GMT)
How lovely, you must be so famous. I wish I was just like you. *sarcasm*
Not the time to brag, dear.

Blood, you'd be a good Dimitri >>;; dunno, Vlad reminds me of someone much older.

Skada_of_Alchemy - August 23, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
My parents were Hippies so I was almost named something like moonbeam ,sunflower, twilight rain..God and of those would of been embaressing. The normal names I almost got stuck with.

Taylor
Izzy
Elizabeth
Zoe

Chikamaru - October 28, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)

Kuropuu - November 2, 2006 04:27 AM (GMT)
ahh.. my parents are asian.. so they try to name us close to our chinese names.. I was almost named Sandy.. x__x.. I'm so happy that the person who was doing the name change thingy when we first moved here said that Sandy was a really common name or something like that..

I dont see what's wrong with being called Candy as a nickname. I have that as my internet nickname or any other occasions nickname..

Lt Riza Hawkeye 911 - November 14, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)

Aly - January 31, 2007 01:22 AM (GMT)
I looked at my baby-book again and there's alot of names I forgot to list XDD

Erin(I woulda really loved that name)
Cindy (My mother wrote a comment: Then people would call her Cindy Lauper)
Sheryl
Risa (mom's comment: would've been too close to Rissa.)
Alissa (I woulda killed myself if my name was Alyssa.)

I think Katie is a good name. My parents woulda named me Trisha.
But I'm stuck with a dumb name, easily made fun of, I wish I had a cuter name like ..Winly Odule...xD
