Title: RP Update Suggestions
Krazydog - April 7, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
Huh, seeing that the RP board is getting more and more popular, I was thinking of a whole new change to the RP board so we can clear out some stray lines. If you have any suggestions, or don't like the idea, please post here. If you agree to it, then post anyway. We're open for some good ideas.
Anyway this is what I was planning:
1. -Ranks will be distributed among RP characters so you can rise to the top.
-BUT Everyone will start as a Private and work yourself up from there.
-To gain Rank you must first be active and contribute to the RP
-An Event in the RP will have to earn you praise and you need the agreement of those who you RP'ed with in that specific RP.
-Once done, consult with me or any other RP mod to gain approval.
Ranks
-Military-
RP Fuhrer (There can only be ONE)
Fuhrer's Secretary
General
Vice General
Secretary
Brigadier General
Colonel
Lieutenant Colonel
Major
First Lieutenant
Second Lieutenant
Warrent Officer
Sergeant
Private
-Heretics-
Heretic Elder (There can only be few)
Heretic Lord (Unaccessable)
Heretic WarGod
Wanderer
Vigilante
Treasure Hunter
Spy/ Guardian/ Warrior
Thief
New Recruit
-Mechanics-
Mecha Master
Mechanic
Apprentice
2. Ability Points and Status Points
-All Status points is out of 10
Strength- Physical Strength that affects characters ability to damage opponents. This also includes martial arts, swordplay and damage done by close ranged weapons. (If you have good strength, you don't have good long range combat)
Missile - Long Range abilities and damage done using projectiles. IF you possess long range combat, your strength isn't as great so you can't be perfect in BOTH. This includes long range alchemy, guns, arrows, and the use of whips.
Defense - Ability to resist damage, this includes absorbing blows and blocking enemy attacks. High defense, means low agility. Defense also means you can recover from attacks faster.
Agility - Speed and evasion. Ability to dodge attacks, attack quickly and move around quickly. High agility means low defense.
Intelligence- Use of Alchemy, with higher intelligence, using Alchemy is much faster and more stronger. This also implies to mental strength and resistance...
Those with HIGH Intelligence, usually don't have great strength or long range abilities.
and for Certain Homunculus, their ability to maintain emotions, control power and ability to manipulate/ be manipulated. Some Homunculus have an ability to attack mentally.
Concentration: Accuracy and Mental stability. Those with High concentration have HIGH Intelligence or HIGH Missile capabilities. Has nothing to do with Strength.
Regeneration Rate: (For Homunculus/ Chimeras ONLY) Ability to regenerate, some homunculus can regenerate faster and quicker than normal, Others aren't as fast. Those with higher defense can usually regenerate more rapidly.
Other Note: Whatever else you'd like to point out. This includes Certain tactics and whether or not they need a transmutation circle.
Ex:
Alastor
Rank: Wanderer
Strength: 9/10
Missile: 1/10
Agility: 3/10
Defense: 8/10
Intelligence: 2/10
Concentration: 1/10
Other Note: Requires Transmutation Circle ONLY if unequipped with his blades Midnight and Melancholy. Also loses concentration easily, causing mental breakdown/ sleeping in random moments.
Ability Points
Out of 50, Ability Points will be distributed among how many RP's participated. Strengthening certain points and lowering others.
3.New Class
Aside from Heretics and those of the State, Mechanics and Chimera characters can also be used.
Mechanics
-Mechanics can be fighters!
-Use bombs and explosives in battle
-Build means of transportation (Cars/ Trucks)
-Build Robots
-Specialty weapons, they use guns OR the good ol' Titanium Wrench
-They can make quick money by the use of selling/ producing products. This includes Automail, bombs, firearms, and even vehicles.
+ Some can be classified as Doctors and medics. They aren't great fighters, but are aidful. Doctors do not tamper with Machines! And... try not to hand out drugs to minors xD. Get paid ALOT.
Chimeras
-Use of animal abilities to combat
-Has usually stronger physical abilities compared to humans
-Possesses Regeneration ability, not as powerful as homunculus, but enough.
-Depending on the animal, their abilities range from agility to even flight.
So what're your opinions? XD Its time to start the RP Revolution!
Darkei - April 7, 2006 10:40 PM (GMT)
I think this is a great idea. -Nodnod- I really like it~! Hope it can be possible soon!
I need to actually try to register a character. I'm just to unsure. -A coward-
????? - April 7, 2006 10:48 PM (GMT)
You created your poll wrong. Someone could vote for all choices.
I fixed it for you, but the votes were lost.

Instead of this, it would be a better idea for a RP mod to promote/demote them. And also, if someone makes bad posts/spammy posts, they should be demoted.
Krazydog - April 8, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
Hmm yeah, but I wonder if there's an easier way to keep track of their rank if their given to them. You know, to show everyone what rank they are and such... maybe to make them add it in their sig or something? o___O This requires some thought >>;; *Goes off to think some more*
Seven Cardinal Sins - April 8, 2006 02:30 AM (GMT)
I'm OK with the rank idea...but the stats and stuff I'm not too fond of. I mean, then fights will get really complicated- I like it the way things are now.
Sorry, but I'd say no...no offense, I just really dislike the idea of having stats, among some other things...sorry.
Krazydog - April 8, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
Don't look so much into it. The Stats is only for Character registration purposes, its not like you actually battle depending on statistics. Its a sure made way to check whether characters are not too overpowered and sums up their overall strengths and weaknesses. Its on the character registration sheet and thats it.
Think of it like a video game lol.
????? - April 8, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
About the rank, I'll just use this code that adds a profile field (and mods can only edit the option)
Dread - April 8, 2006 02:52 AM (GMT)
I rather like all these ideas. I especially like the ranking idea. It makes it more realistic.
Dark General - April 8, 2006 09:53 AM (GMT)
 I see you liked my rank idea.So far it looks good.Maybe incorperate a test to see the "Archtype IQ".Meaning Alchemist have to take an Alchemy exam based off certain events, and alchemy facts during the anime series.Make some questions worth more then others to sort out "The most knowledgable" about that archtype based off facts in the series.Same goes for the other archtypes like chimera's,mechs,Heritics,Homunculus.
Examples:
Chimera question:What was the first chimera shown (not just human and animal but animal and animal combination),episode number,And what kind of animal did it look like?
Alchemy question:How do Ed use circle less alchemy, which episode was it explained, and who figured it out.
Heritic question:What are the characteristics of ishbalins, and how many were shown during the series?
Mech question:How do automail work,Name everyone with automail?
Krazydog - April 8, 2006 04:52 PM (GMT)
Hmm... a quiz may be a good idea, but that wouldn't really help improve the rank, especially since The RP board should be seperate from the anime plotline. This does take place Many decades after the series.
I was thinking that certain actions in the RP would assist your rank improvement, and the amount you RP will deffinitely aid in rank development. Besides, >>;; everyone can just look up answers on the net which isn't very fair...
Dark General - April 9, 2006 08:05 AM (GMT)
Or maybe the quiz along the lines of basic alchemy,Mechanics,Heritic info, and fighting skills.Maybe it won't help any one get a higher rank but it would help with which ranking to start out with or wheather or not they deserve to keep their rank [maybe drop down a rank like ????? said]. And once the Fuhrer and Generals are established [or atleast the top three ranks] missions can come from central and be handed out and depending on how hard the mission is you get Rep points [that can only be given out by the higher ups] for promotions in rank.A certain amount of points can be reached to get promoted to the next Rank.
Of course people will still be able to role play in central and other parts of "world" freely as they wish. And depending on what you do you can Come back to central [for alchemist] and give the Fuhrer your small "Report" of what happened during that RP.The Fuhrer [or higher ups] can then give you Rep points or take away Rep points for your next promotion.
This can also be used for Heritics. There are supposed to be "Elders" in Heritics.Heritics can also give/get missions for RP.Based on good "deeds" you do "Elders" can give Heritics Rep pionts that translate into "Enlighted points" the more you get the more "Enlightened" you get and leads to a higher Heritic rank.
The Mechanics can use this. You have the Master Mechanics that teachs the other younger less experianced mechs.Less experianced mechs can help every one [including them selfs] and gain "Experiance in mechanics" to rank up [Rep agin with the Master mechs.] In the master giving "Jobs" to the lesser mechs [along with taking some jobs for themselfs] earn money and experiance. With this comes the interplay on the "Money" and "Rep" options for Rp's.
Martial Artists can learn more technique's and more "Combat experiance" to get an extra rank in combat "Belt colors" base them off Rep points given by "Masters".Of course other adventures (role plays) by any of the "Archtypes" is judged by the head people in that group.Sharpshooters get more "Accuracy" (well you point by now) for rank ups.
Now with that said it would need to be a "Few adjustment's" to characters and ranks alike. To Keep from members cheating, the leaders in the RP groups have codes where only they can give rep points to other lower ranking members. And to keep tabs on the characters, Leaders have their own personall list of the Character's and the member's on the site who use them and know who's who and know how many points they need to "rank up" and know how much "rep" each character have. You will probley have to change the number of characters allowed by 1 member to something lower [i was thinking either two or three] to stop user's from being in multiple groups. There could be codes only members of certain groups have to enter access to "missions" in their archtypes [central for alchemist,Xing for martial arts, and other desinated places for group meetings. It would be kind of like the furom groups but different because of the role playing outcomes of Rping and a whole lot of other groups.
Now for certain archtypes they have different advantages.Like Mechs having the advantage to be freelance along [working for any group] and choosing if they want to be a member defitnally for a certain side (along with martial artists having this advantage). And their should be schools for archtypes which helps [a little] in rep pionts for ranks. It sounds complicated but how i figured it out it's not.And it should draw more active members in RP.
Also i have an idea for "new" add ons.Automial, and soul binding to things. The amount of battle and things they do depends on the automail which will have to be repaired at a certain point [along with fact of wear and tear, and upgrades].Along with the growing likeing of homunculus you need to get a certain amount of members who can be homunculus (I was thinking long the lines of two leaders and eight sins in that group).
Sorry for the Huge post but i had to explain everything in detail.
xPanic - April 29, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
Too bad this isnt a pure RPing forum, otherwise I'd say have ranks go by post #. But of course then people would be gaining ranks by posting spam. Now, depending on how many characters a person has, they could simply link the character profiles showing rank and Expierience/Expierience left until promotion, like a video game. To keep track of this one could put a ticker in the signature/sidebar/character Bio for the Moderator to add Rep/Promote/Demote. Either that, or you streamline the forum into a RPG/with other site and have post count simply in the RP board.
The only problems I see are the complications of rank. Unless ????? is willing to make new groups
Mechanic
Heretic
State Alchemist
Humonculi
ect.
And have them be promoted through posts to the next rank and so on.
Ex.
Mechanic Div.
20 posts =Apprentice
200 posts= Mechanic
600 posts = Mechanic Master
????? - April 30, 2006 12:49 AM (GMT)
Also, I'm thinking about taking the ability registration forum out as nobody uses it and people just put abilies in their char regs without registering the ability. But then I don't RP so is it a good idea? Also if I do take it out, i'll remove the "points" in the sheet.
Krazydog - April 30, 2006 02:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah, all they do is put in bullcrap abilities for the strong and weak points (Especially the weak points). So I'd say instead of that just put in "Specialty" And that's it. And they put in just one. Everything else they can't excel at anyway if they possess a specialty.
????? - April 30, 2006 06:37 PM (GMT)
You can fix the form if you want.. just click the edit button on the topic with the sheet as if it was your post.
Dark General - May 1, 2006 08:41 AM (GMT)
Okay let me get this straight your taking out the ability points. About the speciality that sounds good. And the other aspects of the characters ability just becomes some what passive.Am i right?
So what about characters that are already registered?
Dark General - May 1, 2006 08:49 AM (GMT)
On Blood Metals idea i can add to that. Posting count is the easy part to sort out. But you can intergrate time spent in the Rping section along with the post count to get a average of how much each person role plays. Then you can determine the rank according to time spent and how much role playing they do. To keep up with this you can have a person to monitor the progress of people in role playing and the missions they get into. It can be a mod or a person who activly Role plays and is un bias.
Seven Cardinal Sins - May 2, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)
But what if their RP posts are all crap, like 1 line posts and such? Then it wouldn't exactly be fair.
????? - May 2, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
You can easily tell the amount a certain user posted in a topic by clicking on thre reply count when viewing the list. Here's the stats for this topic
Krazydog 5
????? 4
Dark General 4
Seven Cardinal Sins 2
blood metal 1
Darkei 1
Dread 1

Ugh yeah, I cant STAND one liners! I sent out messages to those who keep doing super short messages to tell them not to write 1 liners. So far its been pretty good... not the best, but its alot better then 1 sentence replies.
Dark General - May 2, 2006 06:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah it's not enuff to work with when it's just one line you can barley progress with your plot. But sometimes i think i write too much in RP. Hmmm....Maybe an RP assestment at the end of every two weeks or something around that number to monitor the progress of Role playing and see how good each person is ,how much they do and actually rp's done by them. The only problem is that you would probley need about three people to be the ones who judges other peoples Rp and give them ranks.
xPanic - May 2, 2006 04:40 PM (GMT)
Hold an assesment for the judges, the judges of that assessment Being anyone not planning on entering. Then take the three best (unbais) roleplayers and let them judge. So to be fair really you need a system of atleast 7 judges, or even 11 for that matter broken into three groups. Thus rotating and judging each other and the other RPers fairly and most unbiasly. This...cousel of 11 can also be used to deal with larger issues, such as plagerism, or blatantly ignoring the rules set down even after been given a warning.

I like this idea. But where would we get that many members who come here regularly. So i guess if we do that it would have to be people who come to the forum at least three or more times a week. It would be more structured i like it. Wouldent you need different advisers for different archtypes?
You have any members in mind to help with development?
xPanic - May 3, 2006 05:12 PM (GMT)
 poiwnt? *pokes self* my idea? well uh...I personally have no one in mind, I mean really you'd have to find a way to mass contact all the active RPers..which amount to ...30 or so people. You'd have to go through arranging a schedule of whos assessment is when. This would be a pain because of different timezones and school schedules so we need to find the initial 3 judges first, hold the assessment of regular RPers (choosing the other 2 groups based on results and unknown to them. Basically "You did good in the asscessment heres your job offer") or we could find the 11 judges first and have a mass..assembly line in a sense so that the assesment would go much fast ...creating out initial list of Roleplayers their skill and rank. Personally I think the best 3 judges would be KrazyDog,Roy_Mustang, yourself and possibly ?????. The next best group of people would be Faith,Riya_Tringam,Inari, or Jewel Alchemist (if she werent away). Then lastly the group of people could possibly be Deception,Dread, and Crimson Alchemist.
So after finding the judges go through the list of active Rpers contact them and schedule in their assessments. Or find other judges as you see fit. And yes u would need different advisors for different archetypes...I considered having the 3 groups of judges 3 different archetypes...Heretics, State Alchemists, and Mechanics or Heretics/Mechanics, State Alchemists, and Humonculi
So group 1; Mechanic/Heretic (4 people)
Group 2: State Alchemists (3-4 people)
Group 3: Humonculi (3 people)

Krazydog - May 3, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
Seven Cardinal Sins is a pretty experiences and active Roleplayer. Also I'm having doubts about Homunculus characters in RP's. Because not only is the NUMBER of them, totally outrageous, but they are pretty overpowered compared to the rest. I say we put some restrictions especially with those who have more than 1.
>>;; I mean... 9 year old Homunculi? Puh-leaze~
Also, killing off characters to make homunculus is kind of... low... first off someone NEEDS to be the one who performs the transmutation, also there has to be a distribution of red stones since Homunculus do die without it in their primal stages.
In other words, this RP board is totally hectic with no solid storyline to follow, especially with the inactive Teach. Not to mention that a majority of RP'ers don't listen to us mods to begin with. Tis a battlefield.
????? - May 3, 2006 08:27 PM (GMT)
*pokes the warning system* they can get 3.33333333333% warning for not following rp rules. and I think it's time for a replacement RP admin.... well let's wait until ZB.
Also, you can add stuff to the handbook as you are a mod.
Krazydog - May 3, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
But we can't replace the Teach! Even if she's been inactive for a while, she's the one who made this RP board >>;;. *Has the urge to contact the Teach and ask for assistance*
xPanic - May 3, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
He* The teach is scary ...he sounds like he can kick my butt, and i mean hardcore. Oh yea and i think hes serving in Iraq right now..
????? - May 3, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
*is not getting anywhere near school*
Maybe as a reward for active participation in the RP, we could give out rewards (Cens, Special RP Reward Items, Item Codes, Access to special forums, a premium RP board for active RPers, etc)
Also, if we do this update, we need to advertise the RP more..
xPanic - May 3, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
So...I guess I need to give Krazy some back up artillery...mwahhaha...*pulls out cannon* Which system are we using..or a combonation?

Yay! Congrats! Well Advertising the RP board may prove difficult... I'm not quite sure how to pull that off. Hmm... I wonder if we can like make a joint site or something for a BIGGER RP board. If that is in any way possible.
????? - May 3, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
And for the classes.. we can use the classes in the RPG hack in place of the current ones...
brb... Firefox upgrade to 1.5.0.3
So lets not do any of these RP updates until ZB (could be in a month to three months... no release date yet)
And IF we are making a joint forum I could make it IPB 2.0.0 (last free version) ad have custom profiel fields to make managing ranks/status/etc easier
Krazydog - May 3, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
Wow! So we can do something like that! Totally awesome, alright x] Then wait a month we shall! Oh crap... I forgot... I won't be on much in the summer, I'm going to Korea for 3 months x___X.

The Idea about the judges good idea,i like it.I thought just popped into my head maybe a charcter archtype count is needed to figure out how many judges will be needed. And like Krazydog said there is way more Homunculus then almost any other type of character. It would probley be a good idea to make a little section with Alchemist who commit Human transmutations and only they would be able to commit the act. If a person Homunculus is good enough to be certified then the alchemist commits the H.T to give birth to the Homunculus. It would limit they amount and limit the powers of a homunculus.
The connecting web site is not a bad idea.Maybe it can be used as a sign up site to draw people in with Role playing.Or a place just for Role playing or just for the other parts of the forum with this one being dedicated to Role playing or Vice versa.
And congrats Blood metal on becoming an Elite Member.
