The Alchemy Exams
The storm had grown worse outside as I sat inside studying for the exams the next day. I was about an hour from Central and had to get up early and walk there. My sister was asleep in her room and father was in the den reading when a knock came at the door. It was Hughes. He told me to come with him, that he had a place for me to stay so I didn't have to rise up so early in the morn. We went out to his car and he took me to his house for the night.
Of course he couldn't keep from showing off his daughter Elysia... it was almost annoying... but I like kids.
We stayed up later than expected drinking coacoa and talking about Elysia(none the less). Then the next morning he took me to where I was to take the exam. I barely passed the written exam and then the next day was even harder. I had no idea what the question meant in the interview... it made no sense.. "Why do you want to become a State Alchemist?" I didn't understand... and therefore I didn't come up with the answer I wanted.
But miraculously I lived through the interview, then it was on to the Alchemy part. I'm suprised to say I passed even though I engulfed half the forest behind the wall with my Engulfing Wave attack... I got scoulded but I'm one of the new State Alchemists... Thank God!

The Lieutenant Colonel
A Scurvy Braggart that one, he acts like he's the rule of the roost... I know he's the Lieutenant Colonel and all but does he have to act so Pompus all the time?
Arrogance - Overbearing pride evidenced by a superior manner toward inferiors.
he lives every word of THAT definition...
but Hughes on the other hand, Kind-hearted, gentle man. He can be a little annoying about his daughter... but he's an alright guy...

Yearly Evaluations
Yearly Evaluations were today. I went in, did my stuff, and left. I hope I passed. That nice man, Mr. Hughes, was there, but so was that jerk, Colonel Mustang.. and Brigadire General Brasque Gran... I dislike Brasque... but I just think Mustang's a jerk...
Oh well... I just wanted to pass that thing... I'll find out soon enough if I made the cut...

Pretty cool- so, I was just wondering, what do you generally do as a State Alchemist? Are you a researcher, an army commander, or a general combat alchemist?
Black Alchemist - July 21, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
I do bookwork... I love books... any other questions?

Nope, that's all I can think of for now. This is really cool to read, I encourage you to add to it as often as is convenient for you.

A new friend
I talked to General Hughes on a personal level for the first time today. Suprisingly he didn't try to flash any pictures of Elysia at me today! We chatted for hours and finally we became close friends.
I'm glad Mayes and I are getting along more. Maybe I can even get that stuborn Jackass, Mustang to come around and be more social toward people... but that's a struggle for another day.
I'm suprised to learn that I passed the Evaluations and am now a full-fledged State Alchemist. I'm so happy! I wonder what my first assignment will be. I hope it's something good, besides the clean up I had to do after I destroyed half the arena that we were taking our Evaluations in.
Then after Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist, and Emile, the Lightning Alchemist fought for her Evaluation, they had to help me clean up the Arena!! :D

Hughes' Photo Album
I never knew one man could have so many pictures!!!
Not only did he bury me in his Elysia collection but he also showed me pictures of his wife and family members!!! It was crazy!!! I couldn't breathe!! Thankfully Mrs. Hughes pulled me out of the pictures and we had Dinner.
It smelled deliscious! I never knew food could taste so good!! and they had my favorite, Beef Stew! XD I loved it, I hope I can go back for another visit sometime.

 Heavy piles of photos can be hazardous to your health- Hughes knocked me out with them once. I think I may have suffered some temporary brain damage, because for a few days after that I thought I was a lizard and kept sticking my tongue out at people.

Roy's Temper
I gotta remember not to make Colonel Mustang angry anymore... I lost 3 inches of hair when he got mad... he snapped his fingers to tell me, "If you don't pay attention you'll be out of here like THAT!!"
and then he snapped his fingers... I guess he forgot he had his gloves on because the next thing I knew was that there was a spark, a flame, and the smell of singed hair...
I looked over at Riza and she was just shaking her head with her palm on her forehead... she was mumbling something like, "I can't believe it... just can't keep from snapping..." I guess we're all lucky he doesn't like rythmic music... or the walls would be black...
General_Hughes - July 22, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
hahaha thats funny!!
 so for what the colonel wanted you for?

Ohh, Major Alexander Armstrong Told me that he was going to the gym with you!!! Is that true???
Lightning Alchemist - July 24, 2005 10:21 AM (GMT)
Going to the gym- with ARMSTRONG?! You will go blind from sparklies! ;)

Entry 7:
Major Armstrong
Apparently Hughes set me and Armstrong to go to the gym so he could steal my JOURNAL and read about it... I'm sooo gonna kick his ass...
anyway! We got to the gym and he was trying to show me how to work out... I told him why I'm so scronny and he tore off on one of his, "That's such a touching story!!!" speeches and then he ripped off his shirt........ I think I saw some sparks then a flash from Emile's camera...
she followed us to the gym... it was the most embarassing event of my ENTIRE life... I'm too pale to be out in the sun that long... and I really didn't like the gym... oh well... another day has gone by... so it's one less day before the day I die...
Lightning Alchemist - July 25, 2005 11:49 AM (GMT)
Don't worry, I won't give copies to anyone- except Ed, Hughes, Roy, and the Fuhrer. :P

Central
I just got back to Central after being assigned secretly to another government base in the west. I can't believe how lawless it is over there.... I'm glad to be back... but I think someone needs to work on the railroad tracks. The trip here was really bumpy.
