Make the Point System Awesome Contest.

Soooo, I like the idea of the point system being involved in the IC and OOC interactions of the site. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's cool to get rewarded for doing a good job. Again, this one is sort of two contests rammed together.

Suggest some ways to earn points.
These should be original ideas and can be actions either in or out of character. I want it to be easy to earn points, but I don't want to just give them away either, cause that defeats the purpose. But, just suggest some new ways to earn points.

Suggest some ways to spend points.
This one is the most wide open. It can be anything. Suggest a new healing herb, a new stone, some interesting shamanistic items the wolves could use. Anything. It can be OOC things also, but keep in mind the titles on Invisionfree are kind of weird so I can't give away colored member titles or things like that. Still though, I want this to be what YOU guys want, so give me some ideas.

Ok for items how about something interesting like maybe old necklaces or something from he humans. I'm not sure if thats what you'd want but it'd be a cool idea.
Saosin - March 28, 2008 02:04 AM (GMT)
ohh, i know this doesn't pertain to the suggestion things, buuuut um i think you should find a mod or make one that allows some sort of tangible system which you can use to gain and spend points on items that you can actually have in an "inventory" of sorts. I've seen it on invisionzone plenty of times so I know such a mod exists. maybe you could even have item images. =D
-flail- and i myself wouldn't mind making images.
now, let me try to think of ways to earn/spend points XD

Some Ways To Earn:
- Help out witht he plot once we get one going.
- Reply to all the threads you've got going.
- Start a game OOCly.
- Word of mouth; aka talk about Enigma and get more people interested.
- Start and participate in an 'Introduce Yourself' thread?
Some Ways To Spend:
- Have like a designated artist only make images for points.
- I like the necklace idea from Marie
- Who ever has the most points, with respective activity and helpfulness, can be Member of the Month if they want to.

Give advice, help, or aid others in refining their roleplaying technique
staying a dedicated roper on Enigma for certain periods of time.

I had an idea on a way to spend points, but it's kind of powerplaying. I'll list it anyway just to throw it out there. ;)
If a character is going to get into a fight, they could use their points to buy one guaranteed hit before it begins. Meaning sometime during the fight one attack made by that character has to be taken as intended.
I can see how there could be problems with it, like someone saying their guaranteed attack was one for the throat with the intent to kill, but maybe it could be true for less critical hits. Possibly like taking a piece of an ear? Or a good bite or tear?
Oh! They could buy for the other character they are fighting if both sides agree on it. :D Like purchasing a tattoo, a scar in this case, for another character saying they lost the fight or won.
Ah! Another idea. A trade. One person making the attack can trade their points to the other character in exchange for that guaranteed attack. This sounds like it could keep things fair, since someone's not going to allow the attacking character to deliver a deathly blow just for a few extra points. Though how many points are being traded may have to be watched. And the points aren't really going anywhere, just being passed around...
Hmm, I'm not even completely satisfied with my suggestions, but it was fun coming up with them. :P

I don't know if anyone has suggested these but::
-Getting Karma? (though maybe not since people can just give it away anytime for nothing Xd)
-Posting over 3000 words. (I think this might Already be up, I will have to recheck)
-Each group that you advance. (if we even do groups....)
Skarldemarsh - March 31, 2008 09:35 AM (GMT)
How about moving up one rank ICly? That'd be sort of like a personal/wolf-al achievement, and that character can get points. Or contributing to the Pack ICly.
Giving constructive criticism on another person's work, like criticism that really does help. I dunno.
We could spend points by perhaps buying a chance to create a slightly more advanced-ly mutated character, like those winged-yet-flightless types, but only make them able to "flutter" a certain distance before having to rest. And we can make some characters super-fast, being able to sprint for a short period of time at high speeds, and other traits... Maybe that's not exactly fair.
I suppose that's all I can think of now.

As far as getting a mod for a "store-like" thing:
I thought about this LONG and HARD before the site was up. Originally, that is what I wanted. But here are some problems I found with it. A) [this is the major one] The only mods of that nature I can find, require FTP access to the board itself. Invisionfree, doesn't allow FTP access for security reasons to their free boards, a pay board is required for that, and, well, I'm broke. B) As far as I understand, and I could be wrong, the way those store mods work, is that they are based off of post numbers. Because of that, it would severely limit your ability to earn points. You wouldn't be able to gain points for doing certain actions because the program wouldn't have any idea that you did them. Does that make sense?
BUT...
Eventually, I do want to have an inventory type thing. I'm going to make images for each of the items but it is a tedious process that I just don't have extra time for right now. I was thinking that once you have "purchased" an item, you can add an inventory page to your character's profile. There, you would be responsible for keeping track of the items you have. This has inherent problems because not all people are honest (for example, you'd have to delete the item if you used it in an IC post). But, frankly, I don't know any other way to do it...
Opinions on the matter?
I don't mean to clutter the contest board, but, I feel like this is pertinent.

Earning-
(I'm not sure if these are up/suggested or not. Sorry if they are)
- When you offered a tutorial for art/typing or helpful critique.
- When you have made a table, avatar, signature, etc. for another player.
Spending-
- In the plot, it said that some wolves have developed wings, but they are flightless. So maybe some working wings for a character?
Eh. I'm probably going to have brighter ideas later.
Shanti - April 5, 2008 04:00 PM (GMT)
Err just joined but going along with the 'wings' idea ----
Maybe they can develop certain... powers, so to say? Either powers or mutations or new markings that are ... special and people cant just join with these things they have to earn it.
... Or something like that xD
The Staff - April 6, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)

Shanti - April 6, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
Ohh on the 'Swiming' thing you could develop gills, as canines are already good swimmers, they would just need to breathe under water and Tadaaa they are fish xDD
Skarldemarsh - April 7, 2008 10:40 AM (GMT)
Oh my, the gills thing sounded extremely like one of my self-invented species. O.0
Umm... Shouldn't we make "an entire set" be worth 6 points, to make it fair? Otherwise some people might make these images and claim points for them separately, which'd result in arguments, debates, etc etc.
Shanti - April 7, 2008 01:29 PM (GMT)
Yah, on the set things, maybe even make it worth like 7 points because you made an entire complete matching set. At least 6, though, because, as Skarl said, it might make some trouble at 5 0.o
Skarldemarsh - April 7, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
No, the point being, you have to make the total of the individual Avvie, Siggy and Table points /exactly equal/ to the Set points.
If it's but one point less or more, pandemonium would ensue as everyone grabbed the "worth-more-points" assortment.
