Where was she now last was where she was. Months had seemed to melt away the cold fridge snow and ice that had covered the land where she had traveled. Never the less the melting of the snow and ice wasn't helping her right this second she needed to focus. left and right it was all the same decaying reminders of scars that once were deeply engraved into their species mind. Fear, she'd heard stories of great pale creatures on two legs that slaughtered just because it was fun to do. she shook her head sighing as she looked to the shimmering sun set.

Her pelt almost matched the blazing colors of the sky and that too was another story she was told. About the sun and the moon, the stars and the earth. how it's all connected all intertwined. Ayita chuckled to herself letting out a howl just for fun she wanted nothing more then to call to the great spirits of the universe.

'Ayita you silly girl what are you doing. I told you once before south is that way. you ask for my help but here you are not listening.' a little gray mouse perched it's self on her fiery head.

Ayita couldn't help but ignore his advice this time she wanted to know what was here. She wanted to find a home again. What she wanted more then anything was to lead again. She was starting to regret leaving her home and all she had worked to create. no matter what she had to stop thinking about back there. She smiled padding slowly through the crumbling old mess that the two legged ones had left behind. What strange things she thought to herself laughing at the site of what they had left behind.

The winged femme was strolling along rather peacably today. The hedgehog at her side was barely noticable. Black shewolf, spiney hedgehog. They were suited for eachother in temperment, and by means of protecting themselves. The hedgehog's sp[ines were visable, where as Kae's spines were not.

A howl startled the female out of her reverie. Her fur fluffed up further, making her look like a furry hedgehog, even as her wings unfurled.. Then her fur smoothed, and she folded her wings again, taking a moment to groom the feathers. A dark angel, that was what she was, or so it appeared.

The hedgehog puffed, making it's snuffling sound, and Kaelan looked at it for a moment. Then, with a twisted grin, she let out her own howl; a challenging howl. An angry howl. A howl that siad, "come and get me, if you dare."

Yay! Jumping in, I'm excited about my new character, and everyone else's for that matter. Whoo. :)

The world was burning. Everything was thrown into a fiery light as the day began to die. All around, the remains of a once great, though only some would say so, species sprung up from the earth like deep, scabbing wounds. The earth was healing, but it was a fight that would not soon be forgotten. In the harsh light, huge, dark shadows emerged, throwing the abandoned town into an even more unusual and unnatural state. There was little movement in this place now. Wolves generally avoided the place, it gave most an eerie, uncomfortable feeling in their stomachs. The humans had not been their friends and few were sad to see them go, especially at their own hand. But in the silence of the place, every once in a while, keen ears could pick up a scratching, shuffling noise. And those with curious eyes, could see that in the twisted metal, broken concrete, and decaying wood, the scurried a small, ordinary looking chipmunk.

The quick little ball of fur would dart into crevices made by the debris, seemingly looking, always looking for something. He seemed to be the only form of life here. That is until he abandoned his searching and scampered, no more than a half a block down a cracked, uneven road, and disappeared into the fur of a single wolf. Onlookers would have had no reason to notice this wolf up until now. Though she was sitting directly in the center of the street, she hadn't moved in several minutes. Her fur, though on inspection was strikingly different than the setting sun, still allowed her to blend in enough for a casual, unmotivated glance to miss her. The chipmunk appeared between her front legs and prompted her first movement. She bent her head down and licked the top of the chipmunk's head. Her broad tongue nearly covered the tiny creature and his hair stood on end thanks to her against-the-grain affection. The tiny creature puffed up at her and began quickly fussing with the out of place fur on his head.

The lady grinned at the sight before her and was about to speak when her thoughts were interrupted by a loud howl. And then, only a minute later, a different, much more driven howl. Odd, she thought, What are wolves doing here? The lady looked down at the tiny creature between her paws still trying to fix his fur. With another smile, she nudged him gently with a paw the size of his whole body.
"Come on. Let's go see who it is."
The creature climbed up onto the shoulder of the wolf. It was not uncommon, unusual as it may look, to see the lady's companion on perched atop her head, sometimes scurrying down her back, looking at where they had come from. Quite the pair they were. Quite the pair.
How they took and took and took from mother earth but gave her nothing in return.

Ayita wondered if humans were honestly that bad as the stories say. The delta told her to listen to the trees for they know the stories far too well. Ayita laughed out loud trees couldn't talk that one thing she did know she'd tried talking to one once it never answered back. she took a step forward sniffing around there was so much to explore here and it peaked her interest.

no one came, and Kae grinned again. typical. No one wanted to fight her anymore. Her scars were visable proof of her skill. At least, her physical scars. Thoughts of her mate and pups made her ache, though she growled to keep the hurt at bay. She unfurled her wings, expanding them just once, enjoying the feel of the night breeze against them.

Night was her element. She was black as night, as was hr soul. Or so it felt sometimes. She moved forward, her wings again aginst her side. With her wings folded, she appeared to be a roly-poly shewolf. It was when the wings expanded that you could see the feathers, and the lithe form underneath the wings.

Leave it. The hedgehog's voice was rough, gravelly. Kae grinned lopsidedly at him. But I want to see. The grin was cold, harsh. She moved forward, stopping as she laid eyes on a multihued wolf. Her fur fluffed slightly, making her look even more harmles. A trick she'd learned in the sai lands. Let thm think you're harmless until they learn otherwise.

With her companion settled in between her shoulder blades, his tail perked, ears and eyes always alert, watching with the never-ending concern of a prey animal, the wolf turned from her position. The howls had come from behind her. And so she left her spot, she left her thoughts, her meditations, she broke what connection she had had with the ground around her. She'd been talking to the earth. It was telling her things, she could feel the pain of the wound the town had caused, but she could also feel the healing. They were gone now. All of them. It was better like this.

She wasn't in a particular hurry to arrive at any specific destination, and truth be told, in the back of her mind, she was hoping to avoid the owner of the second howl. Today had been a peaceful day. She had spent a lot of time in the forest. She'd studied many plants and herbs and she felt in a grand harmony with all of the earth around her. The energy from all things seemed to flow in and out of her, connecting them all invisibly. It certainly wasn't the day for confrontation, which the second howl had seemingly initiated.

She could feel the tiny claws on her back, barely making it past her thick undercoat to the skin beneath. It was more of a tickle than anything else, just a tiny reminder of her friend, always there, always watching.
There. There is another one.
"I see." The tiny animal announced the presence of the other. Calypsis responded calmly and quietly. She had no way of knowing which howl had belonged to this wolf. The creature was big, definitely bigger than Calypsis, at least more muscley. More notably, she had wings. Though Calypsis was rarely surprised by the wolves she saw now, wings were among the more unusual reactions. They were large, black, foreboding almost. She continued her slow, steady walk toward this new wolf. It wasn't as if she could exactly walk away now.

The distance between the wolves closed slowly as Calypsis walked forward, always stepping over or avoiding sharp remnants of the town. She wasn't good at meeting new people. At first she was always reserved, quiet, not really herself. No matter what, she couldn't stop it, is was just how it was. Still, it seemed as if she would be first to speak, and right as she was about to, a mild breeze brought her the scent of one more. And there is the other. The creature on her should threw his tiny nose into the air. He scampered up her neck, perching himself on her head now and whispering in her ear. There are two!<font color="White" The wolf nodded ever so slightly. In reality it was in acknowledgment of the chipmunks information, but her company would probably assume it was for them. Either way.

"I'm rather surprised to find another out here so late."

Kae waited until she could see both, then unfurled her wings. It was more habit than anything. they were bulky and uncomfortable to keep put away for long periods of time. One spoke, than the other. Kae eyed both, then flatly put in her two cents.

I'm searching for the murderer of my mate and pupnapper of my pups. She didn't look down as her friend huffed, his beady black eyes staring at the other two. His head spines pushed forward as he prepared to defend himself, a typical hedgehog reaction.

She stretched her wings, then let them relax. relaxed, they still stood up. It was both a sigh of her agrression, or it could be constured as a sign of her utter indifference to the two she was with. It depended on how well one knew Kae.

Is doublet even a word? o_O Oh well, it is now.

The other approached and the doublet was now a triplet. She could feel the tiny claws of the chipmunk on her scalp. Such was the way of a chipmunk, always observant, always looking. As a small pup, she had been wholely disappointed with her appointed guide. A puny chipmunk. That's what she'd thought. The multihued pup had wanted something far more glamorous. Some of the adults had large, beautiful hawks or bears. She'd wanted something better. The pup had ignored her creature out of spite. Her tiny mind thought that if only she willed a different animal, she would get it. Her poor friend. The tiny creature had stuck it out. He had stayed with her, following her, advising her, even when she refused to acknowledge it. But as she grew older, the wolf came to realize how truly similar the creatures were. Calypsis loved to observe things. She liked to know how things worked and she had a great interest in plants, all of which led her to become the Shaman that she was today.

The first wolf, the blacker one, unfurled her wings and streched the unusual additions. Calypsis had seen a few wolves before with wings, but most were small and didn't work. It seemed as if this massive pair could easily lift the wolf off of the ground, but there really was no way of knowing for sure. Calypsis took careful note of them, making sure to not focus on either wolf for to long, letting them know all of what she was taking in. The second wolf to arive responded first, announcing that she was fascinated by the night. Interesting. The second replied bluntly. There certainly wasn't much to say about that. It wasn't that Calypsis didn't care, it was more that, despite her revealing reply, the bluntness in her voice didn't invite conversation on the matter.

Why wouldn't other wolves want to come here? Ayita didn't understand why they wouldn't want to come here. The humans were interesting and it was quite fun to go around and see what they sorta lived like. After all humans weren't as good as the animals, they had died from their own doing. The thought of this brought a smile across her maw.

The gray mouse had found a comfortable seat on her head after she had adjusted herself into a sitting position. ((try the duo became a trio? LOL Sorry for the prolonged silence. Drama mamma here. LOL BTW, don't mind Kae. I'm still working out the kinks in her persona. about hedgehogs))

[i]"Most wolves choose to avoid the town." "I think the humans a rather interesting its fun to look around and learn. Though I've never heard of anyone taking puppies thats just cruel to do that to young ones." The second wolf, the chatty one, immediately grated on the dark fey's nerves. She flickered an ear, looking between the two.

Her amythest gaze was direct and concise, soul piercing. She had nothing to contribute, and so she didn't. Her compainion, the hedgehog, let his spines stand slowly, sniffing at the two. He then contorted his body and began annointing his spines. She glanced at him. he was comfortable.

She allowed the tenseness to seep from her posture, though her gaze remained somewhat wary and unwelcoming. She was very much like a hedgehog in that aspect. Protect yourself first, emotionally and physicaly.

Ahh! I love the hedgehog. Adorable.

Interaction between all the wolves seemed limited at this point. The black one seemed completely indifferent to the present company in all respects as did her prickly companion. The second black one, back ablaze, wasn't exactly talkative but she wasn't quite either. She seemed the questioning type. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, thought Calypsis. The lady was herself very inquisitive. It certainly was an odd grouping of wolves that had assembled themselves here after dark. Dark. The sun had disappeared completely from the sky and the half moon was the only light available now. The silvery white light cast an even more unnerving glow around the wreckage of the broken town.

The wolves seemed, at present, to be congregated of to the side of what was once a street of the humans. The hard ground was uncomfortable on Calypsis' paws. She was certainly used to a more agrestic environment and all the manufactured, man-made things around her made her uncomfortable in more ways than one. The fiery black wolf had questioned why wolves avoided this place when the humans were so interesting. There were interesting true, but there was most definitely a lesson to be learned from their downfall. The remains of the shattered civilization gave Calypsis the chills as if she had wandered upon the rotting skeleton of the last of an extinct species. It was just unnerving. To know that these things were gone. Forever. They would never come back. So finite.

"It's not that the humans aren't interesting. It's just. Well. Most wolves just don't come here. It usually gives them a weird feeling in the pit of their stomachs. And I must admit, I am no exception." The tiny claws on the chipmunk on the back on Calypsis' head had moved down her neck and into the crevice between her shoulder blades, the creature's usually resting spot. Convinced that, for the moment at least, there wasn't any danger around, he had releaved himself of his post and sat, relaxed. The black winged wolf hadn't spoken and frankly, Calypsis hadn't a clue what to say, if anything, to her. She had spoken so coldly, so matter-of-factly about her missing pups and murdered mate. It was unusual and Calypsis didn't know what to make of it. She felt a little unusual not saying anything to her, but her guess was that the black wolf was just as happy not to be talked to.

Sorry for the delay... and the shortness, they'll get better, I promise.

It was only moments into the meager conversation that the winged, black wolf chose to remove herself, rather silently, from the interaction. Calypsis wasn't exactly surprised; the other hadn't seemed exactly forthcoming when it came to conversation. She just didn't understand wolves like that. What was the need to go about life so unhappy and distant from everything. It just wasn't needed. Then again, she had spoke of tragedy, perhaps it was recent. No one would know now, but it was uncertain whether any more information on the subject would have been gathered had Kaelan not left.

Her only present company, the fiery colored female, was already apologizing for awkwardness. Great. This was bound for an excellent conversation; two initially awkward wolves slammed together that didn't know a thing about the other. Prime setup. Calypsis brushed it off with a smile as Aison, the chipmunk seated on her head began to relax a little and lay peacefully between her ears, though his eyes were still on the lookout for trouble. Ayita was what the other introduced herself as and the multicolored female was reminded that the wolves had not exchanged names before that time. "My name is Calypsis." She paused for a minute, smiling and nodding her head politely. "I didn't mean to insinuate that you were odd in any way for coming here. I just meant that I don't usually see others out here. It was just a bit of a shock to see two, as you can imagine. What brings you here after all?"

Ayita listened as Calypsis asked her why she was here. "Oh its fine, well in all honesty I can't say what brought me here. Curiosity maybe or fate? maybe you and I were destined to meet? I'm unsure but I enjoy learning and exploring so maybe curiosity besides that killed the cat never the wolf."

Ayita gave a chuckle as she smiled. The question was why was Calypsis here? Did she come here often or did she happen to be passing by as Ayita had been in the begining.

GAH! I'm sorry this took sooooooooo long. It's totally my fault. I'm sorry. *dies*

Calypsis turned her head to the sky for a moment. The night was dark now and the stars where making pinholes in the ceiling of heaven, or whatever it was up there. The half moon cast an odd sort of glow over the whole city, especially the street where they stood. An old, bent over lamp post cast an odd shadow when the moonlight hit it, and all the rumble just looked as if it was about to jump out and eat you. The last remnants of a once great species. Gone by their own doing. No living wolf had ever seen a human before. They died out several generations ago and now, all there was were stories from the elders. And even those seemed to be to preposterous to believe sometimes. Many colored creatures that walked upright, on two legs. Ha. No creature walked on two legs. It was unnatural.

Then again, as Calypsis turned back to the wolf before her, smiling lightly before she began to walk slowly down the street, hoping the other would take it as an invitation to follow, not a desertion, her mind began to go over all the objects here. There were most definitely things she could not define. Plenty of things she couldn't define for that matter. There were a lot of these things, these things that had four straight sticks poking out the bottom of a flat something. Sometimes there were wood, sometimes metal. But regardless, their purpose made no sense to her. And to make matters even more confusing, there where some with only three legs. As the pair walked, each avoiding the pitfalls that came in their path, Calypsis thought about why exactly she had come here. She didn't really like it. And she didn't understand it.

"I don't know, something just, well, it just draws me here. I don't understand because I don't really like to be here; it gives me the creeps honestly. But for some reason, I just think I should come here. Maybe we are supposed to take a lesson from these...humans. I don't know."

Ayita walked after Calypsis maybe they were heading out of the town maybe she shouldn't even be fallowing her. Right now that didn't matter she'd much rather fallow then be all alone again. Though they'd part their own ways soon enough maybe some time they'd meet up again. Ayita shook her head and fallowed silently.

"Oh yes a lesson. Not to be like them at all. They always thought they were better they were wrong."

Ayita gave a chuckle as she smiled. How very wrong humans were though stories had been passed down through her family. She was a fourth generation since the death of humans and her grandmother well great times two? grandmother said she actually lived with humans. Ayita always found that odd.

Ayita stopped for a moment taking in a deep breath. The thought of her family all that was gone. She shook her head and continued in silence after Calypsis.

The hard asphalt, as she'd heard it had been called, was unnatural feeling on the pads of Calypsis's feet. The remains of the, no doubt, once grand city were now overgrown with a multitude of vines, shrubs, and small saplings pushing their way up through the crumbling concrete that once held them at bay. The wild was taking back its land. The humans, whatever they had looked like, had commandeered the area. They had claimed the spot belonged to them but really, how could you own a thing like land? The natural balance was returning, the earth would heal itself, but for now, there was still a significant scab.

Being here, walking among the rubble was a sobering experience. At least, for the first time, Calypsis had a friend, if you could call her that so soon, to walk with. The two wolves waked slowly, passing by crooked, leaning walls that were only standing thanks to some force of God. The buildings in this part of the city seemed all very similar. Each was a roughly square shape with a few windows in the front, all broken out now, leaving a barrage of crystal knives just waiting to slice the skin of an unsuspecting wanderer. The paint was peeling off of all the buildings in large flakes and they seemed like ghosts as the wolves passed by.

Calypsis was taking a new path, one she hadn't yet traveled. Since it was already dark, she was keeping the very edge of the forest just barely in sight so as not to get lost. The moon, a little over half full, provided enough light to walk by, but little more. The wolves, at least Calypsis, didn't particularly have a destination in mind as they walked, it just seemed that they should be walking. Perhaps some great truth would expose itself to the pair tonight, who knew really. All of life was a game of chance. A chance you would live, a chance you would die. But then again, there certainly were things you could do to improve your odds.

As Ayita spoke, Calypsis pondered her words. They always thought they were better, but they were wrong. That was certainly a true statement, or at least as much as she could gather from the stories she had heard about the unusual creatures. They were so odd indeed. All of the places they lived, it was as if they were trying to bury the earth beneath them. "I just don't understand them. This is such an odd place to live. There are no trees, no plants, well, at least, there weren't, when people actually were around. How could any creature live like that?" She was genuinely confused by the creatures. They were like nothing else the lady had ever seen or heard about. One of a kind. And they destroyed themselves. That had to say something about their existence...

Ayita looked off to the distance the faded light of early morning was beginning to crest. Wow she had wandered late this night but for the first time in a long time she was in the company of another wolf and she didn't want to set off to be alone. Ayita had always been a social wolf and loved the pack life she had made a bad choice by leaving. She didn't enjoy being alone though the sleeping mouse on her head always reminded her she wasn't really alone.

"I hate being alone don't you?"

After Ayita asked she felt stupid. What a dumb subject to change to. What was she thinking, well not much. She fallowed a bit more quietly and tried not to think to much. She would need to soon need to find a place to rest, she was such an owl when all alone, but in the safety of the pack she didn't stay awake at night so much. For now she was just glad not to be alone anymore.
