How 'bout a game, Ami? The little voice of Webb the spider sounded just within her ear, causing it to flick dangerously beside him where he perched atop her head, safely away from the groping leaves and plentiful foliage but close enough to toss him off. Careful! You're going to send me flying. So what d'you say? You game? His insistant plea to play a game had been going on for the past five minutes straight, a pause every few feet to make another claim for his case. The idea of a game did sound fun to Ami at the moment, something to keep herself occupied with walking. Though they had set out days, perhaps a month, before didn't mean she was any more closer to finding herself a destination, but she continued to walk as if she knew just where she was going. In a way she did; she was going on a walk, one that would take her just about anywhere, where ever that might be. Webb often asked just where she thought she was going, but, as always when he asked a question, she didn't answer. But that was her; black and white, like a silent movie.

She felt rather than saw the little spider scurry from one side of her head to the other, placing himself before her left ear now with another attempt to sway her into playing. Come on, we've been walking like this for an hour. Well, he did have a point. They had been awfully quiet together, with Ami walking and Webb riding atop her head, still lost and without a clue as to where they were headed. She knew he hated being in the dark, but maybe walking blindly for a while would get him to loosen up. It already seemed to be making a change, him seeking to stop their current wanderings for a friendly game to perhaps get a few answers more out of her. How disappointed he would be when she again didn't reply to his inquiries. Hide-and-seek? Her multicolored eyes lit up at that thought. It was one of her most favorite of games to play with her friend, along with I Spy, considering he could see the tiniest things that she had to struggle to see for herself. There we are, he commented, obviously noticing the brightening of her expression. Stop, will you?

Ami froze in place, setting the paw she had raised to press forward back down beside the other. The small black figure of the spider crawled down across her head and onto her muzzle, turning in place to look back at her. Her own rainbow hued eyes crossed to see his form more clearly, something that no longer gave her a headache. She smiled though he couldn't see it, the gesture below his feet and out of eyesight. She was sure he could see the colors dancing about within her eyes, though, clear as day to his sensitive sight. You know the rules. Set me on that tree, he said, lifting a long, slender leg to point to a nearby treetrunk. Ami obeyed, taking a step towards the trunk and resting her nose gently against it while her passenger disembarked. The tickling of his touch against her wet nose hardly caused a stir at all beneath her skin, no twitching or shifting of muscles beneath. She had long ago grown used to his touch, though his voice was a different matter. For such a small creature, she had figured his voice to sound more high and possibly squeaky, but it sounded with a normal tone, perhaps a bit young considering he was still young himself.

Multicolored eyes rested on his figure as he slowly moved down the trunk of the tree, only to stop a few paces and wave a long leg warningly at her. No peaking. Ami grinned, clamping her eyes down tightly shut while she strained to hear his tiny legs against the bark of the tree. Nothing. There would really be no telling where he had gone. He could move quite fast when he wanted to, though never fast enough to outrun her. Tag was a dangerous game for him, and they learned that quickly when Ami was quite a bit younger, a few months of age. Silently, the gray hued wolf counted to herself, the habit well formed in her already. Count to twenty, then seek. A rustling sound in the leaves nearby made her ears perk up expectantly, but she knew they couldn't have been her spider friend; he was much to small to make that kind of noise and it was too far away to have been him. Probably another forest dweller. Still standing in place, her gray paws began to shift in anticipation for the moment she would reach their designated number. She had tried before to cut the time down to ten or fifteen seconds, but for Webb to cover any decent distance twenty had been the right kind of number.

Twenty! Her eyes shot open and a grin swept onto her face, her tail beating madly behind her. She immediately stuck her nose against the tree she had set Webb down on, poking around with her nose until she reached the base of the trunk. There in the grasses, she proceeded to sniff around a bit, with the usual no luck at locating a scent to follow - he was so tiny, what a surprise. She turned in place, figuring there was a good chance he had passed right underneath her without her detection, and fished around in the shrubs beside her. You're getting warmer, Webb's small voice called to her, causing her eyes to flicker about wildly where she had heard the voice. She prodded around in that direction a bit before shifting direction and retracing her path, moving farther away from Webb this time. Colder. Colder. Come on, Amitola, I know you're better at this game than this, he said as she completely turned away from him, her ears turned back to listen to him. She wrinkled her nose in dislike when he used her full name - she much prefered her nickname. Without him even realizing it, she had narrowed his location down to the shrub beside the one she had been nosing around in, and with a smug smile, she turned and took the two steps to it, pawing at a piece of it in an attempt to get a better view within and perhaps find her friend in record time.

Sorry for the delay, busy weekend.

The weather was warming quickly. Spring was beginning to fast fade into the summer and it did not seem as though there was any protest from the earth or any of the creatures in it. The leaves on the trees were thickening catching more and more of the light that would otherwise spill onto the forest floor, wasted, unused, and altogether ignored until it was no longer there, at which time someone would come along and finally notice that it had indeed been there before and was now no where to be found. As hard as Calypsis tried to pay attention to these subtle changes in the earth's complexion, this afternoon, she found herself to be that very wolf, that came to realize the gradual darkening of the forest, even in the early afternoon. As she walked through the heavily treed area, a lacey pattern of light wove its way along the forest floor.

All the greenery was turned upwards, soaking up the light and putting it to its most efficent and effective use. The towering trees dwarfed the wolf in this section of the forest and with the unusual light, her brightly colored coat seemed like an ocean, the sun's broken rays making the waves as she walked. It was an unusual sight to be sure, seeming almost surreal, or created in some young pup's imagination. Still, here she was. It had been a while since she had visited the forest, and in truth, it was a welcome retreat. It wasn't uncommon not to see another wolf slinking through the timbers. The forest was vast and thick and as often as wolves did come here, there was just so much land that paths rarely crossed.

Abruptly, an unnatural noise broken the serenity of the agrestic world around the traveling wolf. Her stomach had undeniably and fairly aggressively asserted itself. She was hungry. The gurgle had broken the sound of a few stray birds chirping and the occasional ruffle of organic matter on the ground. The wolf stopped in her tracks, surprised by her own body and it took not a moment before the chipmunk, previously resting calming on her hindquarters, scurried up her spine, pausing at her shoulders and looking over the back of the beast towards her obviously empty stomach. Calypsis turned her head with a grin, looking at the creature and shrugging her shoulders, sending him for a ride. "I guess I am a little hungry." Oh honestly Phi, just eat something. You haven't hunted in days, you need some food.

The pair smiled and laughed at one another. The wolf waited patiently as the chipmunk scrambled down her front left leg, wrinkled his nose, sniffing at the ground a moment, and then scurried up a nearby tree, safer from most of his natural predators. The lady looked up, confirming his position in the limbs and began to trot off. Aison never hunted with her, the ride was to much for him to handle, and truthfully, it was quiet possible he could be inadvertently hurt by his close friend. Chances were good that he would take the opportunity to get himself a little lunch as well. The trees now were full of new blooming buds, a tasty treat for the small animal. And both creatures knew assuredly that the wolf would return, stomach full, and pick up her lifelong companion. And so, both satisfied, Calypsis, known as Phi to her guardian, trotted off into the woods, trying to catch the fresh scent of a soon to be entree.

OOC: It's alright. I've been having a bit of a museless weak, so it's taken me forever to get back around to this. x.X And it didn't turn out as well as I hoped it would.

She pulled at another piece of the shrub with her paw, hoping to finally catch a peak at the little bug hiding within. Ami was sure he was there, just out of sight behind the bright green of the leaves and the brown of the branches. Finally getting a decent view into the shrub, she glanced around, her multicolored eyes searching for her dark little friend. After a moment of looking, a frown began to work along her brow, and poked her nose a little further into the greenery for a better look. A soft, obviously amused chuckle sounded just beyond it, behind the shrub Ami was currently digging into. Of course. He must have slipped through this one and was now hidden somewhere else. She smirked, having figured since Webb had insisted she play by the rules that he would as well. Apparently that wasn't how the game would be played this time. Giving a gentle growl, the gray wolf padded around the shrub, beginning to poke around at the one behind it. Perhaps he had darted up the tree without her noticing?

Her nose twitched rapidly of a sudden, attention captured by something new around the area. Another wolf? She was all but certain of it, the scent holding that obvious yet unfamiliar tang to it. Hey. Ami. Where are you going? The little voice of Webb tried to call her back, but she was already moving, her brow still furrowed slightly over her oddly colored eyes. Curiosity was getting the better of her, and she knew it. She knew nothing about the wolf who was within the forest with her, and because of it they could have been huge and looking for a small wolf like herself, a little appetizer to hold them over. Of course, this thought and many other warning ones were far from her mind, instead her thoughts filled with the possibility of a new friend, someone to talk to, company in general. Always the friendly type, the prospect of having someone to be around made her all the more eager to find them, what ever type of wolf they may be. After all, it was Webb's job to worry, not hers.

She caught sight of the wolf before the scent reached her. The bright coloration of the wolf's fur was a dead giveaway within the green wood, standing out almost like a sore thumb. Or rather a blossoming flower in a dry bed, considering how it was her color that made her catch the eye. Upon seeing the colorful patterns of the wolf's fur moving through the trees just to the left of her path, Ami had stopped to take in a full view before bringing too much of herself to their attention. The wolf looked feminine in build, which seemed a rightful thing in her mind considering how brightly hued she was. The gray wolf couldn't see how a male wolf would deal with that sort of pattern without embarrassment or anger., and she appeared to be rather calm if not a little alert. Looking for something? She could only guess. There were plenty of things to be found in these woods, she was sure of that. And speaking of things to be found...

Ami! Turning her head, she saw the leaves upon the ground trembling under the spider's fast pace, watching as he blazed a path straight for her. She smiled apologetically, knowing he hated it when she left him behind. She turned her body to face him as he raced towards her, taking a few steps forward to lower her nose against the leaf litter. He crawled quickly up the bridge of her nose to settle himself atop her head between her ears, sounding a little out of breath when he next spoke. You were supposed to find me. Why did you run off like that? Though she didn't answer with words, she moved back to where she had been standing when she saw the colorful wolf. She had already moved on by then, no longer in view, but a few more paces along that line and she could see the wolf again. Oh, was all her little eight legged friend had to say, staring silently for a short moment with her. You aren't going to say "Hi" or anything? For a split second she actually felt nervous by the idea. What if they didn't want to talk with her? What if they just ignored her and kept going? She knew Webb expected her to call out to them, even if she wasn't going to speak, and she didn't exactly want to give him the idea she was too shy or afraid to do so. Trying to prove such thoughts wrong, she gave a soft bark to at least get her presence out there to be known. Ears perked and eyes focused on the multicolored female, Ami and Webb waited immobile to see what the wolf would do.

Ahh, sorry again. I hate being the reason for delays. Short too, bah.

Calypsis had only begun to search for a fresh scent but within seconds, she caught the aroma of rabbit. The small mammals were incredibly common in the forest, but even more so during the spring. It seemed that the small creatures held up to their reputations. The wolf had to be exceptionally careful when hunting, especially in the woods. She didn't exactly blend in after all and rabbits always had their eyes open for predators. She had just decided to follow the trail and was in mid step when her concentration was shattered. One single bark echoed through the forest and made Calypsis jump almost out of her skin. She spun around as fast her body would carry her, afraid there was some unknown enemy behind her.

When she saw only a curious looking female, her logic immediatly reminded her that an enemy wasn't all that likely to reveal themselves, especially if she had been so concentrated on dinner not to have smelled the other wolf. The wolf was an unusual sight, which was saying a lot because there was little that Calypsis hadn't seen thanks to the humans and their damn virus. But this wolf, she was, well, she was gray. Now a days it wasn't unusual to see a pink wolf, a teal wolf, a magenta wolf, but gray! She was quite possibly the first gray wolf Calypsis had ever seen. This new wolf didn't seem hostile at all, in truth, she seemed more nervous of Calypsis than Calypsis was of her. As soon as the mutihued lady was convinced that this new wolf wasn't about to try and eat her, her tail began to wag a little behind her.

She liked meeting new people, she was just a little shy herself. It was odd really, when she got to know other wolves she was one of the more outgoing personalities, joking and playing easily, but at first, she was very different. She wasn't ever really sure how to act around those that she had just met. She was always quiet and reserved, so much unlike her true personality. Still, she would try to best to make friends with this new wolf. With a tilt of her head, and a happy grin, she replied with a quick bark of her own. She began to trot towards this gray female, her tail still wagging. Why not make a new friend? There wasn't a whole lot of distance between the two and Calypsis closed it fairly quickly. She smiled nervously and then, finally, thought she ought to introduce herself.
"Hi. I'm Calypsis, what's your name?"

Ami was about as startled by the colorful wolf's reaction as the colorful wolf had been at her bark. What ever had been her purpose, she had been quite set on it, oblivious to the goings on in the forest around her. The gray wolf felt a little bad for interrupting something that had the other so focused, deciding then that if the wolf wished to keep going that she wouldn't decide to follow and trail along like a second shadow. She knew how annoying that could get, though not from experience, and knew better how irksome it could be to be drawn away from something you had been intending to do. Her immediate thoughts were of Webb, recalling a time or two when her little spider friend, just trying to be helpful, would say something or stop her from doing something by speaking sense and ruining her fun. What a day without him might bring, but she knew he did a much better job of keeping her out of trouble than she did herself. Without him she would soon be lost.

The scare the colorful wolf had felt vanished very quickly after she realized that it was only Ami who called, and the sight of a few tail wags sent the young wolf grinning. Wonderful, a friendly wolf! She had been hoping as much, not sure what she would have done if the wolf hadn't wanted to keep her company. She wasn't very fond of growls or snarls, and though they were only intimidating part of the time they made her feel more separated from her kind than she wanted to admit. This small gesture was a small success for her, knowing that even if there were others who would rather she just mind her own business and leave them to theirs, there would be at least one friendly face along the way, though she hoped the number of friendly faces would grow. Look at that. You might make a friend, Ami, Webb spoke to her, able to see the wolf too from where he stood. She grinned as the wolf smiled and barked back, changing her course so she was directed towards the gray wolf. She's coming over, Webb stated though Ami could very well tell this on her own. By the tone of his voice he sounded about as excited as she felt.

Her own tail wagged slowly as the wolf approached, hardly waiting at all since the distance between them was rather short. Webb stayed perched between her ears, just as eagerly waiting for the wolf to reach them as Ami was. A bright smile lit up her features as the colorful wolf spoke, her tail still gently waving behind her. She logged away the name, sure she wouldn't forget this wolf and her beautiful fur with its many surprising shades. A name, she was expected to give a name. The smile on her face faltered just slightly for a second before Webb marched down from his place at the top of her head, walking along the bridge of her nose to stand on her muzzle. This is Ami, he stated, lifting a leg and tapping the wolf's nose before him softly. She doesn't speak. I'm Webb, her self-appointed interpreter, he stated, and Ami was glad he had mentioned the self-appointed part. She gave her multicolored eyes a gentle roll before smiling again at the multicolored female, wondering just what she would think of her little eight legged friend and herself.
