Just in case anyone was wondering - here is a description of the award Carly is set to receive:
| QUOTE |
2005 Robert A. MacNamara Literary & Arts Award The American Ireland Fund has created this new award to honour the memory of Robert A. MacNamara, an accomplished poet, talented raconteur, past chairman and long time supporter and friend of the Fund.
This special award will be given to someone of Irish ancestry who excels in the area of literature and/or arts. |
Maybe we'll get to see a video of an acceptance speech - the first of many I hope! B)

I was wondering when Carly would start doing more events related to her Ireland heritage. Michael has done tons of events related to Australia.
This sounds like a great event, and I am sure pictures will surface eventually!

Thanks Nathan for the information on that award-sounds like a really cool honor for Carly. Yay!!!
I looked on the Ireland Funds website and they had some pictures from last year's event, so hopefully they'll post some of this event too.

After touring with the “Idol” top 10, she moved to Los Angeles to work on an album. For information on the gala, call (858) 454-4368, or e-mail bestburke@hotmail.com . |

I looked on the Ireland Funds website and found some pictures from last year's event. They are copyrighted, but you can email them and then copy to your desktop. I think we'll be in luck if they post any pics of Carly. Plus they will probably do a write up about the event like they did last year. Not sure about any videos though.

Hey - found another article on this - this time from the San Diego Union Tribune
(I don't have a link to the full article yet, but will put one up if/when I find it.)
But here is what they have to say about Carly:
| QUOTE |
| Mike Murphy presented the awards to the new leaders, and Michael Neil gave the Robert A. MacNamara Literary & Arts Award to Carly Smithson, the Irish singer who was a finalist on television's "American Idol." She sang for the crowd, and the crowd loved her. |
That's it...still no song list or details, but at least they loved her - not that I had any doubts that they would.
