I wanted to start this thread, not because Carly is singing BMTL on Tour, but because I've been a HUGE Evanescence fan for years and years. I've seen them LIVE four times and each time Amy Lee was totally amazing.

I will post more later about the shows I attended but let's get the discussion started now... :)

I LOVE Carly and Evanescence!!!! I have a huge poster of Amy in my room and lots of posters of the entire band! I have all of their CD's and their Anywhere but Home DVD. Carly and Amy both have a more edgy appeal and great voices!

LOVE Evanescence. I've never seen them live, but I own a few albums and they're fabulous. I've wanted Carly to sing something of theirs, so I hardcore squealed when I found out she was singing BMTL on the tour. :heart:

Me too! I had been hoping throughout Carly's time on AI that she would sing an Evanescence song. Although I was leaning more toward "My Immortal." She would have done such an amazing job...

i love amy . she has a delicious talent and is damn sexy. I was THRILLED when Carly announced on LKL she would be singing BMTL. I always go back and watch Evanesence videos and think about what Carly's forthcoming music videos will look like. I love the video for My Immortal but it always makes me cry. My favorite is the video for Everybody's Fool. which is also terribly tragic, but LOVE IT!

My fav song from the open door is also The Only One! And the vid for Everybody's Fool has a good message and I know Carly will never be one of those fakes!

The Only One is one of my favorites too! (It's on my myspace!) I love Good Enough too.

I still want Carly to sign with Wind-Up Records - can you even imagine if she and Amy worked together??

Since we're talking about "The Only One," I always think of Carly when I hear these lyrics:

I don't know if you guys are familiar with their non-major album songs? I really love You, October and Anywhere. There's a big debate out there about You and how it's a private song that Amy wrote/recorded and never wanted it released. Others say that while this is true, she's now okay with it being out in the public. So... I won't post a link to it but if you find it on your own... ;)

I remember when I first heard Evanescence. I was at my cousin Connors house and we heard Bring Me to Life (this was 3 years ago when I was 12) We fell in love with Amy's haunting voice and when the song ended we had a piece of paper waiting for the radio lady to announce who sang it. Then she said "Evanescence" and we're like Evan what? Because when you first here the name its kind of hard to understand. So before I ever saw a pic of Amy I always imagined Arwen (the dark haired elven princess) from Lord of the Rings to be singing, especially in My Immortal. Then about a week later I bought Fallen. Overall I prefer Fallen to The Open Door. Which album does everyone else prefer? (And yes Shelly I like the song You the best, but I also like Anywhere, and October)

I don't know if I can pick between the two. I love them both so much! I think The Open Door might have a slight edge because it has The Only One :)

And btw, Shelly, just the mere suggestion of Amy Lee's voice instantly reminds me of Carly. And that was long before we knew she was going to be singing BMTL on tour.

And here's something you guys will enjoy. At the aftershow in Long Island Carly said "I love Amy Lee. Her voice is ridiculous!" :)

Oh, Mel, that's so cool! :w00t: You know how I feel about Amy and Carly... :D I have always wondered if Carly listened to Evanescence before AI or if she found them because people compared her to Amy? And does she realize how much people compare her to Amy?

I love both albums and honestly it just depends on what mood I'm in. Open Door is more... edgy. More metal, more rock? I have favorite songs on each album so I don't think I could choose. I've always loved "My Immortal" and I've always wanted Carly to sing it (way before she chose BMTL for the Tour). I completely FREAKED OUT when Carly said she was singing BMTL on Tour and I was so scared she was going to change her mind.

Back to Evanescence: My favorite song on Fallen is Tourniquet, though. I think it's such a great song musically and I think the lyrics have so much meaning. I get so excited when Amy sings it live... which she's done at 3 out of the 4 concerts I've attended.

As a little side note: Amy said at the last concert I went to (this past winter) that "The Only One" is one of her favorite songs. :)

I'm thinkin its about time for another Evanescence album! Does anyone know anything about an upcoming album. I know Amy is learning to play the harp, and I wonder if that will have an influence on the next album :)

My favorite Evanesence songs would have to be Bring me to life and my immortal. i think those songs are awsome! i loved it when Carly sang Bring me to life on the tour. she did great, as usual! :thumbsup:

I was just so happy to hear Carly say in a recent intereview that she is a fan of Amy Lee! I just hope that Carly's album is similiar to Evanescence... with just a hint of Heart and Celine. B)

I don't know if this belongs here or in the general Carly folder, but I often think that Carly will do best as a lead singer of a band, ala Evanescence. alot of people said it before and I really think sometimes that it's the best thing for her.

ANYWAY, I love Evanescence! I love their "Hello" so much! It's so very sad but I love it. Snow white queen is another favorite of mine, Going Under.. BMTL and My Immortal are like...obvious lol. love them.

That would be awesome if Carly fronted her own band! But there are already so many bands led by women with black hair and an edgy rocker style. Evanescence, Within Temptation, and Nightwish. But mabey I'm wrong.

Wow, I read on youtube that Hello was written about Amy Lee's sister who died.. :( and My Snowwhite Queen was written about a stalker experience.. :| I had no idea..it's amazing how songs get a whole new meaning once you know what they were written about.

I knew the story behind Hello, but the whole story about Snow White Queen is news to me. Amy had a stalker? :huh:

Here is what Amy said about "Snow White Queen:"

"I went through some weird experiences with stalkers. It's weird how it works. My lyrics are so intimate that people feel like they really know me, and I don't know them at all. My privacy had been completely invaded and there were a couple of nights where I couldn't stay at my house. So I wrote a song about it through the eyes of the stalker, and with my perspective, too."

And some interesting information about "Bring Me To Life:"

Amy Lee was sitting in a restauraunt, and a stranger came up to her, looked in her eyes, and asked her if she was happy. She knew she wasn't and had to make a change. Now, the beginning part "How can you see into my eyes, like open doors?" refers to her asking the man how he looked into her eyes and basically knew she wasn't happy. ALSO... it is about her then friend, now husband, Josh. "Good Enough" is also about Josh.

Now that I listen to the song it makes perfect sense. What kind of disturbing person would stalk Amy :angry:

I really hope Carly can avoid this downside of fame...

Amy Lee was given the 2008 Songwriter Icon award by the NMPA (Nation Music Publishers Association) at the annual NMPA meeting. The Icon award recognizes outstanding songwriters for their personal achievement and is presented to those who personify the vision of the NMPA and the goals of its members.

I've heard a lot of people say that Carly and Amy look alike... and sound alike too! I really wish Carly could work with Amy on a song - how amazing would that be??
