Title: Long Island, NY 8/4/08 & 8/5/08
Irish Broadway Queen x - July 30, 2008 02:36 AM (GMT)
I guess I should make a thread for my upcoming review of the Long Island concert at the Nassau Colisseum. (Speaking of colisseum, did I completely butcher the spelling of that? LOL.)
And yes, this is six days early. But I'm bored. :P

Carly is a dynamo. Her voice was crystal clear, matched by the intense passion she brings to every note and step. She looked beautiful, so much better than her television look. I cannot believe how frumpy the American Idol people made her look for the show. What did she do to them to deserve such shoddy wardrobe choices? It was a joy to watch her own the stage and I wish she had a longer set.

Best idol concert yet, although I wanted there to be more dancing and duets and trios. This year they kept it more about the individual idol. Each idol had 3 songs a piece, Archie had 4, and Cook had 5. I like that they each had a good amount of performance time on their own, because in previous years, they would sing one song which lasted 3 minutes and then they were off. It seemed more personal this year, because they each talked to the audience in between their songs and each were out for about 15-20 minutes or so. They are all so different it was great. For instance you have tattooed rocker chick Carly who was frighteningly amazing, then she introduces Brooke who then comes out and is mellow and plays calming easy listening music. It was funny but it kept the concert from becoming boring. I enjoyed myself very much and can't wait to see each one of them in their own concerts very soon!

I cannot lie I was disappointed. I wanted to love the concert so badly because this was my favorite season of idol by far. However, there were a lot of things that bugged me about this concert. First of all, I didn't enjoy the whole Guitar Hero skit because I felt that was boring and they could have thrown in another group performance in place of that. I know I went to the concert to listen to the top 10 sing live, not to see all this promotional stuff. And speaking of group performances, there were only two. I have been going to idol concerts since season 2 and they always mde the 2nd half of the cocnert strictly dedicated to group performances, and duets where there is dancing and it was a lot of fun. This year there was non of that except for the two group numbers. Those performances were great don't get me wrong but I felt as though the concert should have put in more of them, especially since the concert only lasted about 2 hours and I remember it lasting almost 3 hrs in previous years. I liked that each idol had their own time to talk with fans and sing a few songs but it wasn't that same it ws use to be.

So, we're long overdue to post reviews, but I thought I'd start with the most recent and work backwards for whatever reason.
So, Long Island, Day 1. We spent the morning/afternoon out by the fences. We stopped by, then went to have lunch with our new friend Ro. After we came back and hung out with some great fans we met. The buses came really late, but Cook, Archuleta, Kristy Lee, Jason & Brooke came out. There were a ton of fans and the fences weren't set up properly. At one point, some girls on the same side of the fence as the idols ran over and were grabbing Archie, which I thought was awful. We had a lot of fun talking to everyone.
As for the show, I was very disappointed with the crowd...we were on the floor and most of the crowd sat through most of Carly's performance. They weren't very excited. Kristy Lee even told the audience that if they were loud, the performances would be 10 times better. So, Carly was amazing as usual - her voice is so powerful. [side note: she was not wearing her gloves at this show]. The other idols were good, though everyone seemed a little off. Michael Johns really nailed the falsetto in Dream On though! I have to admit I didn't pay as close attention to the others as I did to Carly.
The show was fantastic, but would have been better if the audience was more excited, as it sounded like they were the next night.
It was a super fun night. Someone told us Todd was in the audience at the light booth, which was right behind us. I never saw him though.

Wow, yesterday was one, if not the best day of my life. I had so much fun and enjoyed every minute of it. It's so true that things happen for a reason. I was not supposed to go to this show. It was totally last minute that my friend had asked me to go with her.
We left home around 11:15 and ended up getting to the venue around 11:50, that is really good timing. No traffic at all! While we were pulling up we saw that there were not many people waiting by the barricades! Which meant we got front row at the barricades! After a while I saw a lady that looked kind of familiar. Next thing I know Mel & Cheryl from Carlysangels.net are walking up to me! It was awesome to get to meet them! Then Cheryl also introduced me to another Carly fan. We talked for a bit then I went back with my friends.
Three buses arrived around 1. One of the buses was pulling in underground so I thought the boys bus becuase it has the blue paper on it. I was wrong though, it wasn't them. A little less than an hour later, I see three more buses coming down the highway! It was them!! One by one, each bus pulls into the underground parking to drop off the idols.
About 20 minutes later David Cook comes out followed by KLC, Archie, Brooke, then Jason. I met them all except Jason. We tried our hardest but he kept getting away from us. After they all finished with everyone security said the rest would be out after the show.
Knowing that, we decided to go to Dunkin Donuts to get some food & refresh a bit. After D&D we needed to get gas, while we were driving there we see a Papa Johns! So my friend and I had to get out and take a picture infront of it! It's ironic how across from both of my venues there was a Papa Johns
Around 5:30 we got back to the venue & headed inside. We walked around for a while before finding our seats. While we are walking I see an Irish Isles stand! I needed a picture infront of that, of course!
After that we headed down to out seats. I really wanted to take in this show & enjoy it. I feel like I've done so. The crowd was insane! There was sooooo much energy at last night's show! I can tell the idols love to feed off the energy of the crowd. This crowd was much more energetic than my show on the 2nd.
Carly once again was of course, amazing! Her voice gets me every time. I will never get sick of seeing that girl perform! And I've also discovered that it is pretty much impossible for me to get a really good picture of Carly. I shake way too much. The show was amazing! I wish I could go see more!
After the final group number, I grabbed my friends & ran to the barricades. I think I ran over a few people, sorry! Good thing we got out there when we did, there was already tons of people waiting. If we got there a minute later, we wouldn't have gotten first row!
About 45 minutes after the show ended guess who comes out first? CARDD! Seeing them together was so cool! It was surreal. They are so adorbale together! Carly started over on my side first but at the other end. Todd followed Carly about halfway through the line of people, then he went inside. Before he went in they hugged eachother & I heard they kissed but I couldn't see that cause of where I was standing. While Carly was walking away to go say goodbye to Todd everyone starts screaming "Carly!" but Carly says she'll be back . The enitre time Todd was outside my friends & I kept trying to get his attention to come over, but he didn't. He just kept looking over at us. But as he was walking past us to go inside, he waved at me & smiled his little smile
I think waiting for Carly to get to me was the hardest part of yesterday! I kept thinking, what if she has to leave before she gets to me? or what if she goes to the other side before getting to me? There were so many things that couldn've went wrong, but didn't. I was so lucky yesterday. & right after all the idols finished meeting fans outside, it started to rain. I feel like yesterday was meant to happen, everything worked out in my favor. It was amazing

So, we didn't go to this show, but we did hang out at the fences all day (picnic under the tree anyone?). It was a great day, much cooler than the day before (I got sunburned anyway). There were way fewer fans and the Idols came out earlier (same ones as the day before) and spent longer. David Cook especially took an extra long time. I think it must be awfully tedious for them to go down that line. We couldn't stay for the show because we had to work the next day (as it was, we got home at 2:30 a.m.) but I heard from my sources (yes that's you Ro) inside the Coliseum that the crowd was phenomenal and so were the idols!
