Hey Angels! First off, thanks again cheryl for posting that video! i hadn't seen it yet, so that made me very excited!
So ok, since so many of us are twilight fans (and if you're not u should be) i thought i'd share my weekend with u guys :)
Well from last wednesday til sunday, me and my roommate, shana, were in Dallas attending Twicon, the largest twilight convention ever. Not only was it a chance for us to have a vacation and be stupid fangirls, but it was also a great opportunity for me career wise. during the convention they were having an art exhibit, which i participated in.
so ill just start from the beginning. me and shana flew into dallas last wednesday afternoon. and as soon as we landed we were in nirvana! twilight people everywhere! (including the cast who stayed at our hotel ;)
thursday morning we went over to the convention center which was connected to our hotel and i set up my artwork in the vendor hall right in front of the welcome entrance. (a lot of great exposure!!!) that afternoon they had opening ceremonies and the hillywood show people and the evil iguana guys do stand up comedy, if u havent seem them u need to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MKz0gkcgAohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi-X0CaxlVAit's extremely funny! so thursday was getting to know other amazing friends, partying and shopping at all the amazing twilight merchandise booths (and people looking at artwork of course!) my table with my artwork ran out of business cards in the first hour of the first day! i of course was stoked!
friday we woke up super early, met with our new friends, and got in line to meet the band 100 monkeys (jackson rathbone aka jasper's band!!!!). we got autographs and pictures and they were super nice and super sexy!! next we were able to attend a session with an author and publisher from harper's publishing company and they discussed the writing industry and getting published (which was an awesome connection cuz im writing a novel!). after that, we were able to meet london musicians bobby long, sam bradley, and marcus foster. these guys are good friends with robert pattinson and cowrote 'let me sign' and 'never think' for the twilight soundtrack. they are also super sexy and super sweet. then that night at midnight 6 of us girls went out to a bar at midnight to see 100 monkeys concert, which was sooooooo much fun!!! jackson rathbone dancing is probably the best/funniest thing ever!! shana got plenty of pictures (which i can post as soon as she gets them up).
saturday was probably the best day of my life!!! again we got up super early and watched twilight in a room of about 2000 fans, which is a lot of fun cuz everybody screams when edward enters a room. then we attended the Q&A panel with the cast- peter, jackson, alex meraz (who is in new moon, i think he plays sam), kellan lutz, billy burke, and christian serratos. u can watch this on youtube too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w39ke7n69gghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wahl0pva4GU&feature=relatedwe were able to sit a few rows back in the dead center (yum!!!). the actors were all really nice and started making paper airplanes outta the notepads in front of them, i didnt stop laughing. i havent watched the youtube videos yet, but if u can find the video of peter telling his story about the greeting card he gave the cast definitely watch it! oh and peter ran up and down the aisles, which was really funny too.
after the Q&A, i got to meet and get an autograph with the heartthrob kellan lutz!!!! he was soooooooo sweet! i told him he was "my monkey man" haha.
saturday night, there was a masked ball, so we put on our finest dresses and danced. at midnight though, we went back to the bar to see sam bradley, bobby long, and marcus foster perform. amazing concert!!!! if u like robert singing, u'd love these guys!!! oh and apparently robert was there backstage (us girls were freaking out but it couldve just been the rum haha). they put on one of the best concerts ever (except for carly). im going to see them again in nashville this year if anybody wants to go!!!
anyways it was definitely the best weekend of my life!!!! i highly reccommend attending a convention if u are a twilight fan.
one of the best things out of it though, was networking. because of the overwhelming response my artwork recieved, i may get INVITED to these conventions as the "twilight artist". the staff gave me several insights, so im going to be working my butt off to be requested to attend/tour more conventions. if all goes well, i may need ur all's support. but i know how awesome u guys are and i know i can count you!! love u guys...ill get pictures posted soon!
