Title: hip-hop/rap arists feat. Eminem

Omarocks - July 1, 2009 08:26 AM (GMT)
I doubt many (if any) people on this forum like rap/hip hop... and tbh... it's not my favorite/most listened to type of music... but i listen to pretty much every genre from hard rock/metal like metallica, slipknot, korn etc, alternative rock (radiohead, Our lady peace etc), classic rock (beatles, led zep, GnR etc), rock (Shinedown, Offspring, etc)... Other (Marlyln manson lmao... i don't know what to call his style of music)... to rap and hip hop.

So this thread is to post some stuff about rap/hip hop. I admit that i used to be a HUGE eminem fan back in grade 8... his marshall mathers lp album was amazing... and he was the reason i ever started looking into rap/hip-hop music.

I just realized he came out with a new album so i checked it out and then i went back to listen to some of his older stuff and it brought back some epic nostalgia lol....

Eminem is a love or hate kinda artist.... I personally think he's one of the most talented rappers ever... and yes rap does require talent to an extent... his flow, his lyrical setups, his ability to tell stories in his songs, and the passion he imbues into his rapping are all quite singular imo. there are some other greats too like Nas, Mos Def etc... but Em has a way of really making you feel his emotion in his songs ... more so (imo) than the other rappers i've listened too. There's a reason why probably the most successful rapper in history and one of the biggest musicians ever.

I really felt like his best days were behind him (his first few albums were by far his best... with honarable mention to the eminem show) but then he started to rap about some mainstream stuff and changed his style and i lost interest. I checked out his new album and there are some positive things about it... a few great songs...(though i wish he didn't make so many songs about the mentality of serial killers and rapists lmao... intersting to listen too... but a little to creepy for my taste lmfao)... but the positives make me think there may be some new hope for him to get back to old form... i eagerly await to see the approach he takes to relapse 2.....

Anyways i've blabbed on too much...

time to post some eminem vids.... (NOTE: HE DOES TEND TO SWEAR AND CURSE IN HIS MUSIC.... SO IF YOU'RE OFFENDED BY THAT STUFF THEN YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T LISTEN TO TOO MANY OF HIS SONGS LOL) i'll only post ones that are more lyrically acceptable lol.... but some of best songs have a lot of swearing in them and he didn;t make videos for them so they aren't bleeped... so i won't post those ones

My fave song from his new album:
Beautiful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8K0oWUe9_Q
(note there is some swearing in this vid... it has the lyrics listed... (just the Eff word... but the song is great and the lyrics are deep and meaningful)

When I'm Gone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHv9eL8GhbE
(love this song you can feel the passion for his daughter flowing through him as he raps... i admire the way he's tried to give her the best possible life despite the problems he's had with his wife... you can tell he doesn't want Hailee to go through all the crap he did.... I feel bad for the guys that try to hit on her when she gets older... Em is gonna be a tough guy to get approval from lmao..)

Another great song about his daughter it also tells alot about some of the issues with his wife and how he his career flourished
Mockingbird

Stan... this was a masterpiece imo... it was a story-song and it was just so creative and the flow, beat and combintion with Dido was perfect imo.

(And here was his EPIC performance of Stan with Elton John at the grammys... : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wm9XOMZ2Ig )

Of course we can't leave out Lose Yourself... one of his best songs easily... and probably one of his most popular:

Rock Bottom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdXdsF08SWQ

till i collapse (has swearing but the lyrics aren't too bad.... just a heads up)... but it's a great pump up song for workouts:

I like EVERY kind of music.

I am actually REALLY digging Eminem's new album a heck of a lot. My favorite song off it is "Beautiful" and I really love the video. It is a pretty mature album and lacks a lot of the fun songs like "Without Me" and "The Real Slim Shady", but there is one fun song on it "We Made You". But I think that is a good thing. I like his mature and deep side.

Great music. He is classic. Love Stan with Dido and Elton John. Both versions are great. He was one of the first guys I had a crush on when he first came out into the music scene.
