Just found this on Twitter-sounds like a big event for Carly and appears that she's doing the show by herself (not with the band). Love the title they give her "Rock Star" instead of "American Idol Finalist" (Yay!!) :

Here's the official press release about this event-I noticed there were over 10,000 people attending last year, so it sounds like a huge event. Yay for Carly!!!

Hi! I'm Melissa...just found this site a few weeks ago when I heard Carly was going to be performing at State Games of America. I am there right now with my figure skating club, and am leaving for opening ceremonies soon.

I saw her doing soundcheck today...she sounded great! I liked her on the show, and am glad to have the opportunity to see her in person. She really does have a powerful voice...can't wait to see her full performance tonight!

Unfortunately I didn't bring a camera, all I have is my cruddy 15 second cell phone video camera, but I'll be happy to share if I get any decent video.

As I said a few posts ago, I was at her performance as a particpant of State Games of America. I thought she was great! I wasn't able to get video, because I didn't have my camera, and my cell phone only films 15 second clips. And for some reason made her look further away than she actually was.

She sang three songs...the two that she mentioned in her Twitter, and another one that she said she wrote, that I didn't know.

She talked briefly, comparing her experience on Idol to the athletes who are participating in the games, about following your dreams, etc. She seemed really nice.

After attending this competition for 5 years now, this is the first time we've had entertainment that kept my attention at opening ceremonies! I'm just an Idol fan in general, so it was really cool to see her perform.

Oh, and Cheryl...thanks for the good luck wishes! I didn't skate this time...I am mostly a coach. I had six students competing here. A few medals have been won, but most of all we are having a blast! :)

Was hoping video footage would show up on YouTube from someone in that crowd of 10,000. It still may. Sometimes it takes people a while to do. This was great exposure for Carly. :)
