Title: The Journey To See Carly
Description: Oh, what we won't do...
Shelly - July 28, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
I thought we needed a place to talk about our trips to see Carly perform. As in how far did you have to travel? (I know Cheryl and Mel have travelled a lot!) Did you have to stay overnight? If so, where did you stay? (I'd love some recommendations on which hotels I should stay in and which I should avoid!) When you got to the venue, how did you find out where the buses would be?
Or just talk about your experience... the other fans you met, the heat, whatever. :D

Well we (6 of us) travelled long and far to meet Carly! Approximatly 200 miles. I dont know if thats a lot or about average or under the distance everyone else traveled? But it seemed like 4ever to get there.
carlysangels - July 29, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
I would just like to say we had to buy a brand new car right before we left for our wedding because the transmission died. It had 119 miles on it when we bought it and now two trips to Canada & one trip to Indiana later it has 2,500. So much for the warranty...

As the title says, what won't we do for Carly? :carly:
I definitely can't top Cheryl and Mel but I will be driving three hours (about 200 miles) each way to see Carly.

well stoopid ticketmaster didn't have philly tickets available one the first day of the presale when i checked. i decided we'd go for the next closest venue instead of fighting for philly tickets we may not get. so i'm going to the atlantic city one instead, which i think will be way better anyway, plus it happens sooner than the philly one. so yea, i'm driving 2 hours i think? well my aunt is driving but that's nto the point. :P

Yeah, this is one of the problems with living in the Midwest - often we have to travel to KC to see concerts. Typically, we either get really big artists that play in our large venue or we get artists that are just starting out. AI came here last year but since we had auditions here this season (DC's audition city, baby!), they skipped over us this time. :(
Lstn2Me - July 31, 2008 05:04 PM (GMT)
I'm lucky. I will have to drive maybe 25 miles to the concert. General parking is underground, but I don't know where the buses will park. I'll have to find out, somehow. The venue is the Toyota Center, where the Houston Rockets play. It's pretty big, holding 19,000 for concerts.
Toyota Center, Houston

randomkoosh423 - August 3, 2008 07:13 PM (GMT)
alright.... here's my story in a nutshell: drove 3 hours, stood and waited 4 hours, idols never came out, ate some fries, watched the concert which was AMAZING, gave my gifts for carly to security guard who said he'd give it to carly cuz i didnt think theyd come out after, go outside and stand by barricades, meet carly for 30 seconds and got her to sign 2 things, met 5 other idols (kristy, brooke, syesha, jason, and archie), then drove 2 hours, got home at 2 am, took shower, slept for 4 hours. and here i am now haha.
and i cannot believe any of that happened lol

Will you write a review (of the show and meeting Carly) in the Review forum?? Thanks!

Okay, so I just booked my hotel room for my Carly Concert Trip. Why are hotels so expensive? :money:
chantemoi - August 9, 2008 09:17 PM (GMT)
well Cheryl and I live in Ohio and we were in Niagara Falls, Canada getting married and had to drive from Niagara to Columbus, OH for our first concert. (7 hour drive) Carly had just hurt her back and so she didn't come out to the buses that day. The concert was PHENOMENAL. We got to meet her afterwards and it was amazing. Above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. We drove to a friend's house that night to sleep for a few sacred hours and then got up the next morning to drive to Indianapolis. (4 hour drive)
The next day we got up early and went to meet the buses again. We met some really cool fans (and friends now too!) and Carly came out and we had a good chat with her about tattoos and such and videod her opening gifts from some of the fans. The concert was SPECTACULAR as we were in like the 11th row.
We drove home and went back to work for 3 days before leaving again for Toronto (8 hour drive). Got up early and went to the venue to see the Idols before the show. They were really late coming out and Carly was rushed back inside before she got down to our end. We met more really terrific fans that day too! The concert was UNBELIEVABLE. The Toronto crowd was by far the best we'd heard and according to each one of the Top 10 the crowd was the best they'd had on the whole tour so far. Very loud and energetic and responsive. Afterwards we gave Carly the camera Shelly had picked out from all the fans and then we went back to our hotel.
One week later we drove from our home to NYC (9 hours) to attend the Long Island show. We met TONS more amaazing fans and now friends as well!! :) This has been an incredible experience so far....
As you can see - there isn't much we wouldn't do.
"i drove all night...."

You guys are amazing! :)
BTW, was that story some kind of hint towards me? 'Cause for some reason, it feels like it is... :haha:
Matthew - August 9, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
I have to drive 46 miles to get to Manchester. Only 1 hour and 4 minutes, according to map quest. :w00t: Then again, the traffic of people trying to go to Boston airport is going to be ridiculous...
*Bailee - August 10, 2008 12:12 AM (GMT)
I had a four hour drive to get to my first show, Indianapolis. I'm almost positive I'm going saturday ( :w00t: ), which would be another four hour drive. Then the Evansville show is about 3 hours away...so that's like...22 hours total? I think. :haha:

I only traveled 2 hours, I would have traveled 10 more if I was able to go to the Evansville concert tomorrow night, but I have to work, but when Carly has her own tour, I will be doing quite a bit of traveling to see her more then once. Especially to San Diego to support her in her current hometown. :P
